update on vb opening - now 11/20

My wife just spoke with DVC and VB is now not going to be open until 11/20.

We had to cancel our 11/7 trip but may re-book to HH or to somewhere else in Florida (not through dvc). I know Sanibel could use some tourists!

It's hard to keep up with the VB saga. Just an hour ago I received the letter announcing the soft opening on the 8th....

they are closed until 11/20 - member services found out this morning 10/13 - the letter just repeats what was on the dvc site for a week or two and is old info

we re-booked to go to HH, which is a longer drive from Tampa, but we are determined to have fun!

I called yesterday and they told me November 1 - we are supposed to check in on the 11th - bummer.

This is sad news.

I'm sure a lot of the CM's would like to get back to work.

We drove by last week and they looked like they were working like crazy. There were many trucks and people all over the grounds of the resort and even a cement truck that was getting ready to pour something.

Last time, they were closed but many CM's and red cross volunteers were staying at the resort. They day they opened, things seemed a bit busier than I thought they would.

Many people in VB who work on the barrier island are out of jobs and it is so sad. They have to stand in long lines for unemployment assistance and emergency food stamps.

We check-in on the 24th for 2 nights. I'll let you know how it goes.

I know they must be working on the beach cottages because a few of them had much of the sand completely washed out from under them.
