Well, here's the update.

After several phone calls with the Director of Product Development and the person in charge of Compliance, I have been pointed to a section in an addendum to the POS where it clearly states that your must be using a vacation home properly reserved to use the recreational facilities at your home resort. This was in my package from 4/2000. Section 12.2 Personal Use.

This does not eliminate the right to pool hop, of course, which is a current member benefit. Merely it addresses the right to use recreational facilities even if you are not staying at Disney (for example)

So, there you have it - at least for those of us who have bought after this date (I have no idea what is in the POS issued before this date). Perhaps this will clear up some of the posts about the right to use common elements at your home resort.

Some of the confusion is because I reside in NY - so we get 2 complete sets of documents - the Fla and NY docs. There are some peices of information which are difficult to discern among the docs, but it is there if you ask.

BTW, the 2 women mentioned above went well out of their way to clear this up. We faxed information back and forth, and each call was returned quickly and courteously. No one tried to give me a fast answer - they helped dig until my question was completely answered.

They represent exactly what I would expect from Disney, and I would gladly give out their names, but would be afraid that they would be overwhelmed with questions and calls. They are also the type of people that remind me why (even if I don't like the answers I sometimes get) I felt comfortable enough to spend lots of $$$ on DVC.

Bottom line - if you want an answer, ask someone in charge.

Glad to hear they came through for you. No way were they going to let you use the facilities across the board but I'm glad they were able to show you in such a way that satisfied your need for hard evidence.

Makes sense.

So, next we need to curb the practice of locals and non-DVC or cash paying guests dropping in and using the pools.

Actually this does not clear up anything for me.

When I read this paragraph I take from it that, as long as I am staying at ANY DVC resort on points, I have the right to use the facilities at my home resort.

So if I were staying at OKW resort on points I would think, based on this paragraph, that I have the right to stroll on over to BWV and swim with no problem.

And if I'm not mistaken that is what the people who were asked to leave the pool at BWV had done.

"must be using a vacation home properly reserved "

I think that eliminates resorts other than DVC. The only vacation homes are at DVC resorts.

:bounce: Okay hee is the deal- You can pool hop when staying at a DVC Resort as a Member- however you may be turned away at any point if the pool is at full capacity. You should always call the front desk and ask to speak with recreation to be sure they are not close to full capacity.

They would like to eliminate people staying at Days Inn- and using the resort pools by telling the guard they are there for a tour or to eat at a resteraunt at the resorts.

Remember to have a room key with you to show you are a DVC member as regular resort guests CANNOT pool hop.
