Well, here's the update.
After several phone calls with the Director of Product Development and the person in charge of Compliance, I have been pointed to a section in an addendum to the POS where it clearly states that your must be using a vacation home properly reserved to use the recreational facilities at your home resort. This was in my package from 4/2000. Section 12.2 Personal Use.
This does not eliminate the right to pool hop, of course, which is a current member benefit. Merely it addresses the right to use recreational facilities even if you are not staying at Disney (for example)
So, there you have it - at least for those of us who have bought after this date (I have no idea what is in the POS issued before this date). Perhaps this will clear up some of the posts about the right to use common elements at your home resort.
Some of the confusion is because I reside in NY - so we get 2 complete sets of documents - the Fla and NY docs. There are some peices of information which are difficult to discern among the docs, but it is there if you ask.
BTW, the 2 women mentioned above went well out of their way to clear this up. We faxed information back and forth, and each call was returned quickly and courteously. No one tried to give me a fast answer - they helped dig until my question was completely answered.
They represent exactly what I would expect from Disney, and I would gladly give out their names, but would be afraid that they would be overwhelmed with questions and calls. They are also the type of people that remind me why (even if I don't like the answers I sometimes get) I felt comfortable enough to spend lots of $$$ on DVC.
Bottom line - if you want an answer, ask someone in charge.
