Ok I just bought a used bathing suit on eBay. It was listed as "new without tags", which means it *could* be new but I interpret that as possibly used. This suit is "the one"! It is $168 retail and I paid under $60 and I loved it soooo much. Now my question is, once I receive the suit how should I wash it??

The same way you always wash a bathing suit? :confused3
Hand wash or in a machine. Whatever is your preference.

But do you think it has to be specially disinfected?

If you are satisfied that your usual laundering methods get the job done on, say, your underpants, I would apply those same strategies to the bathing suit.

Glad you found a deal on a great suit!
I bought a couple of suits on ebay, getting ready for our recent trip to Mexico... One was really LIKE NEW... I do see some very, very, minor wear in the other... but is still great!

Anyhow, I think a thorough washing or two with plenty of gentle-wash detergent or Tide would def. do the trick. I do like to hand wash my suits, as I think it is much less wear and effect on that lycra/spandex fabric.

I think, the less wash and wear and chemicals the better.

I would just wash it as normal. What would concern me was how do you know if it will fit? You can't return it and sizing can vary. To me a bathing suit is something I must try on before I buy it.

True!!!
The ones I bought, I was familiar with the style and the brand.
It sounds like the OP is pretty confident as well.

I went to the manufacturers website where they had bust/waist/hip measurements for their suits and the seller posted it as well so I'm pretty confident. Also I read the reviews for this suit on Amazon and everyone said to order 1 size up and I did. I do not wear that size but these suits run small.

Gasoline!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Ew. More power to you, but I couldn't do it. I think I'd have to wash it several times before I wore it. That's probably irrational, but the thought just creeps me out.

Do you try on bathing suits before you buy them? Do you think your the only one who's tried that bathing suit on before?

OP just wash it in hot water and it will be fine.

Since when does "new without tags" mean, maybe it's new but it's probably used? :confused3

The seller has a very good rating and perfect rating and insisted that this suit is unworn and unused. I am just assuming that it is used. I have no idea if it was used.

But you might get that same disease that you get from sitting on toilet seats.

Sometimes, but I leave my underwear on, if I do. Lately (past few years), I've been ordering them from Land's End.

am I the only one that wants to know what kind of bathing suit costs $168?????
and for $60 you could have gotten a brand new ( no question about it ) bathing suit.
jmo.
