UPDATE on post #36: Buying a used bathing suit on eBay

Ok I just bought a used bathing suit on eBay. It was listed as "new without tags", which means it *could* be new but I interpret that as possibly used. This suit is "the one"! It is $168 retail and I paid under $60 and I loved it soooo much. Now my question is, once I receive the suit how should I wash it??

If it is used and the seller says it's NWOT that is in violation of eBay's rules. If you see that it has been used you can use their buyer protection plan.

In restaurants we eat from silverware and drink from glassware that other people have used.
In hotels we sleep on beds and pillows that other people have used.
In public places we use toilets and sinks that other people have used.
In all sorts of places we sit on chairs and place our hands on handrests that other people have used.
In clothing shops we try on (and buy) clothes that other people have tried on -- perhaps even purchased and returned, for all we know.

Balking at a bathing suit is selective squeamishness.

Also, I've I never personally purchased a NWOT item that arrived and appeared to be used -- they've all appeared to be things that people've bought, kept a while but never used. I know that I've removed tags (or lost receipts) and been sorry later that I couldn't return the item. I imagine NWOT sales are something along the same lines.

Well actually, the suits you try on in the store normally have a paper lining in them that you take out when you buy it--or at least all the ones that dd has tried on has had them. And most stores will ASK for you to wear your underwear while trying them on. (many have signs in the dressing room)

OP, personally, I would wash it in the hottest water the suit can take. I have read that you can add peroxide to the water to disinfect or vinegar.

If you can find Lysol liquid in the little brown bottle it will also disinfect material. I use to use it all the time to wash the kids' sheets when they had been sick. But its not always easy to find anymore.

Not sure why everyone is being so snarky on this one. :confused3

I always wash our bathing suits and dry them all the way through. They last well and none have shrunk.

I just recently found a suit on consignment for $4. I just threw away the bottoms and bought new ones to match. It ended up looking better then the original bottom anyways.

The original bottom was a maternity high cut THONG!?!:scared::eek: Not sure who thought that would be a good idea but I'll save the innocent eyes from that image! :rotfl:

Makes you wonder huh....LOL!!! I cracked up when i read this...thanks for the laugh..needed one today!!

Update: I just received the bathing suit in the mail and I noticed two things. It had a small tag still attached to the suit and the crotch guard sticker firmly implanted in the suit. The only problem is the suit appears to be so big (I ordered one size up per the reviews) but I still have not tried it on. But am happy overall.
