Update on possibilites of Transformers

From Screamscape today...

I hate to burst the bubble… but more than ever I’m convinced that the project that will replace Stoundstage 44 will not be Transformers: The Ride. I know this is disappointing news to many, despite the fact that the Transformers rumors have grown to the point of having a life of their own, but it is just not meant to be. There has been mention on ParkScope of new paperwork filed with the county that mentions a maintenance pit drain and “Ride Lift Pit drains” for what has been called “Project 609”. This does seem to still indicate that the replacement structure will be tall enough to feature more than one floor. The rumors of a year-round haunt style walk-through attraction also now seem off the table, as the permit clearly mentions a “Ride Lift”. So whatever it is… haunted or not, it will have something to ride in it seems.

WOO HOO! I hope it's not a haunted house either.

I'm completely confused why screamscape posted that, since the link he posted for the information says nothing of the sort.

"What a wonderful day it has been. Universal finally announces the fourth resort hotel they have been mulling over since the concepts of Universal City and Universal Escape, and Orlando's permit reviewers have given us a little nugget of information.

While it is disheartening that Project 609 got its first "disapproval" that is often how we get our information. Most of what we know about Hogwarts Express comes from the "Conditions" section from the permits. As if there was any doubt left, Project 609 is going to be a ride:

"More information required on the type of waste (oily waste?) discharging into maintenance pit drains and Ride Lift Pit drains."
Sounds like the Transformers ride system from Universal Studios Hollywood, but again, that is still speculation. What is no longer speculation is that Project 609 will be a ride and the ride will have a lift. Also, you can cross House of Horrors off of your list!

Autobots, transform and roll out and keep following @Parkscope for your theme park needs."

Honestly, I'm ambivalent as to it being a Transformers ride, but unless he's getting his information somewhere that no one else is, I'm not sure why he posted that.

The only thing that seems to be sure is that nothing is for sure. ;)

No matter what it will be it will be a new ride and that is always nice

I see way too much speculation around the web on this and I really don't get it.

Universal Orlando with every passing day, is getting better and better, and isn't that a good thing? I hope they put Transformers the Ride in and most park goers won't notice the similarities to Spiderman or even care for that matter. I'm sure once completed park goers will enjoy both TTR and Spiderman and it will add to the popularity and reputation of USO being a first class alternative to the Mouse.

Thanks to WWOHP expansion, it finally forced Disney to do something to their parks, which have grown stale over the years. The FL expansion isn't going to match Harry Potter pound for pound and is still too focused on the Princes crap, but it's a small start in the right direction. Hopefully the expansions announced at USO, new hotel included, will spur Disney to do something to the other 3 parks.

I'm also hearing some other things......a small bird told me 18 months.....

Not necessarily. With all of the new technologies today in building a structure, I wouldnt be surprised. Especially with the tilt up, or preformed panels, that are like giant erector sets, the majority of the bldg can be done in a year or so.Its basically built off site, then trucked to the work site, and assembled. Its whats going inside that will take a while, running the sub systems, electrical, testing etc.
The new fire station that we moved into just over 2 years ago, took less then 3 weeks to put the walls up. It was the inside that took the majority of the time, and the contractors werent pushing it. The inital estimate, was about 18 months, and they used all of it. If the contractor had pushed, it would have been done in about a year. That was for 3 buildings, including an office complex, and an EOC built into 1 of the three buildings.

Did that little bird give any indication of what the new attraction might be? If not, hopefully he'll come by and sing again.

I love that Universal is so active. Strike while the iron is hot. :)

Although I really didn't want Tranformers, Stefan from TheThemeParkGuy had this to say...

“If you've experienced Spiderman and you ride Transformers the first time, you may be disappointed. Transformers is not a revolution, it's an evolution of the innovative and brilliant 1999 hit ride. It’s more like Spiderman 1.5.
That's how I felt after the first ride.
But something happened when I rode it over and over again: I started to get addicted and felt like it was getting better and better the more I experienced it. Why is that? I stopped expecting something totally new and experimental, I stopped comparing it to the Spiderman ride, let go and just absorbed it the way it is. And it's a hell of a brilliant ride, with endless-appearing curved giant screens, a floor change carried out so ingeniously that you won't notice it and ride vehicle movements matching the action on the screens timed to the split second. Highlights include a road appearing on the screen on which you all of a sudden seem to be driving - you literally get sucked into the screen; being pulled through an office building; jumping over robots, between skyscrapers and at the end, dropping over the edge. The only weakness of the ride is the lack of atmospheric settings between the screens and the total absence of animatronics. Yet I would call it, together with Disney Sea's Journey to the Center of the Earth, the best ride in the world to date.”

So, I've changed my mind. Maybe they can improve on the weaknesses and make it even better.

I'm pretty sure it will be Transformers, and here's why...besides the 18 month turnaround I'm also hearing as fast as 13 months but that seems to far fetched to me.

Either way, we're talking about them building and opening an entirely new attraction, I DON'T think they could create a new attraction with unique scenery and programming, therefore what we're looking for is a copy of an existing attraction somewhere else.

I'm going to give it a 95% chance of it being Transformers at this point.

.

May not be as far fetched as you think. Todays builders usually have a clause built into their contracts. If they finish before hand, theres the possibility of a bonus. If they finish on time, they typically dont. If they finish late, theres penalties involved. Extra money is a powerful motivator to get done ontime, or early, and correctly. Typically, the contractor will absorb the cost any mistake they make.

So 16 months then. That way they still get a bonus, and the studios gets a new ride sooner. :scratchin

Well, if it's Transformers, plus whatever is going on in the Amity area, that's just my luck. I can squeeze in a trip only every three or four years or so, wife not a big fan, so every time I plan one - for this October - all kinds of neat thing start happening.

Last trip, 2009, HP was under construction. Now I get to stare at two new construction sites and wonder what I'm missing. Oh well, at least we'll get to see the Minions plus an upgraded Spiderman.

Here's a question....

Is Transformers different enough from Spiderman that both could co-exist or are they too similar?
