The social worker has found Wierd Guy a house he can share with his dogs, he'll move in ASAP but has at least moved from outside my sister's place. Someone has also been and taken the remainder of his stuff so their house is now empty.

Some aunts and grandparents have had my neice since Saturday and will through until Tuesday so sis and BIL can concentrate on some serious cleaning (I live too far away to babysit.) Last report says they have totally cleaned out two rooms so far! To give you some scale of the task they have, here are some pics of the house as it was when they got it. None of the stuff in the rooms is theirs, it's the junk left over from him and it's all got at least an inch of dust according to mum:

You mean he just up and left ALL that?!

Oh, your poor sister. Best of luck to her.

Oh my goodness!! Sending pixie dust to your sister!! At least he's out, but what a mess!! :scared1:

What a mess!!! Good thing he is gone..but it's ashame she and her DH have to clean that mess!!!

OMG! I guess they'll be hiring a skip for all that. Anyway they can get the weird guy to pay for it? bet not. My favorite is the hat rack.

Wow, I can't believe they have to clean up that mess.

Wow Queenie! Yes it is a nightmare to clean up but from the pics it looks like it will be gorgeous! I love british houses! That was the one thing I missed about not being able to move to London. DH and I found this wonderful Mews house that was a bakery at one time.

Good luck to them getting everything straightened out.

Have they changed the locks so wierd guy can't come back?!

Best to them on renovating the house. It is going to look gorgeous once the junk is gone and a good cleaning is done.

Yeah he just left it all, mum said his brother came over on saturday to help them out by taking some stuff to store (clothes and prize possessions) but about 90% of the stuff in the pic is still there.

They have had the locks changedso they're ok now. I finally got a pic of the front of the house sent last night and it's gorgeous. It's the first time they've ever had a front garden and it makes such a difference not having the door open straight onto the sidewalk. Sis has invited me and OH over tyo see the place - why do I think this may be a ploy to get some free labour!!!!

Been there, done that. It was family to boot. We purchased our house from my grandmother's estate. My aunt was living w/her when she passed and was the one in charge of the estate. Along with the house came the fridge, stove, and a big chest freezer. I was assured everything (left overs from the estate and aunt's possessions) would be out of the house and it would be cleaned by the time we moved in. WRONG!!! DH and I get here to find her moving out when we were trying to move in. Let's see, the fridge still had things in it and needed to be totally cleaned. Same with the freezer- it was half full. The basement had TWO old hot water heaters that were left as they were replaced. There were tons of old tools down there that needed to go. Oh, and a large trash can of canning jars- half were broken. Buch of odds and ends that had to go. The utility room had a large base cabinet full of more tools and junk. The two bedrooms upstairs were filled with old junk (those hadn't been used since I can remember). We found several quilts between the interior wall and the outter wall (small crawl/storage area). Those were covered in what I would assume was squirrel pee (found lots of walnut shells with them)- oh man did those things reek!

We bought the house with the intention of remodeling it. Never did I think that our "as is" purchase would mean "as is to the extreme". And to add insult to injury, I think she took a couple of my boxes of tupperware as she moved out!
