Hi-
Last month I alerted Diser's to an online auction that was being held for Serena, a little (now 20 month old) girl who is undergoing a kidney transplant. Thank you to those of you who visited the auction; they were able to raise close to $30,000!!!
I wanted to update anyone who is interested, and ask for prayers. Serena had her transplant on Tuesday. She received the kidney from her mom, which is usually the safest (vs a cadaver organ). Unfortunately, the kidney is not yet working. The good news is that it is not being rejected yet either. They are now going to just wait and see if it will start to work, which could take weeks. Serena's mom will be released today, but Serena will likely be hospitalized in the pediatric intensive care unit for several weeks.
The fact that Serena has lived to this point is a miracle, for sure, but the transplant offered hope for a near normal life. Please pray for Serena and her family, they are not willing to let go of their little "Rena".
Thanks-
