We just got home from church and I was in the kitchen hurrying to get dinner on the table. Laura was in her room and called me to come. I was calling back to her "what is it Laura, can it wait"? She kept saying "just come here!"
So I went to her room thinking she wanted me to change the channel on her TV or something. When I got to the doorway she was sitting on the edge of her bed and she just stood up! I screamed because this is something we've been praying for!!!! She hasn't been able to stand on her own yet!!! We help her stand and then she can walk with the walker, but it takes a lot of leg strength to stand up!
I am so THRILLED and we are so blessed!!! This will give her so much more independence now if she won't always have to wait for someone to come help her up when she wants to move!! We have so many reasons to be extra thankful this season!!!
Just yesterday I was thinking there hadn't been any great strides in her progress in awhile and maybe she'd gotten to a point where there wouldn't be more progress and she'd just be like this from now on. I thought that would be okay, I mean we hoped for more but at least we have her.
Anyway I couldn't wait to come here and share this latest good news with my DIS family!!!
