Update on FastPass+ System

Oh how quickly we forget. Do people not remember not being able to get fastpasses unless you were at that particular ride? I'm sorry, but now we're complaining that one has to be in the park??? I never whined when I was at HS and couldn't get a FP for Test Track. Now people are moaning and groaning as though this is something new.

Also, you don't have to pick TT or Soarin' for your kid. Adjust their FP for them so that they don't "waste" that FP.

I agree, and also getting 3 to start with when before if you tripped at rope-drop and fell behind running to SOARIN and got a 5 pm return time, you wouldn't be able to get any other FP's until after 5 when you used it.

I agree some of the things people complain about with FP+ is looking a gift horse in the mouth.

As the saying goes, You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can never please those who want everything,, or something like that.

We have been 3 times since this all began and never had issues, the flexability to be able to switch times on the go or even rides, if the kids want more time napping or swimming or diner running late.. Are you kidding me, its frigging awesome:banana:

Who votes for paying extra like at other parks,,,anyone,,,Who votes for having none,,,anyone.

I just wish they could have the fasspasses for our highways up here.:rotfl2:

I totally agree. We went for the first time with FP+ in early June for a week and we only waited in actual lines for 1 or 2 rides per day. Just kept moving and booking FP+.

There is a trick to the 4th or more FP+. You do have to make the reservation at a kiosk, but once you have it, you can change it within the same park using your phone. I could never get the app to work, but with the mobile site I could pick any available attraction and time. Also, don't waste time searching the kiosk screen for your ride and time. Pick the first thing you see and step aside to "correct it" on your phone.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and also had no issues with Fastpass+. I had read beforehand that there were lines at the kiosks but I was very quickly able to get a 4th and then modify it later like the pp. :thumbsup2

  • Able to book in advance - Good!
  • Able to book on line or with an IPhone App - Really Good!
  • Limited to 3 initial FastPasses per day - Seems a little restrictive but ok fine.
  • After the initial 3 you can only add one at a time - Ok fine
  • After the initial 3 you can only add at the Kiosks within the park you want the fast pass - This is bad bad bad for several reasons. It penalizes people who leave the parks in the afternoon and return in the evening because you have to get to the park to make the reservation. It is also Bad because it creates lines to get fast passes - Disney does not need to create more line situations. It is also bad because it is tying up (a lot of) staff working the Kiosks.

So, if they would allow you to book all of the fast passes online it would be a good system. Save the Kiosks for people having problems.

Patience, my friend. I have said the following time and again here on this forum. MDE and FP+ is an evolving mechanism and will be for a while yet. Patience is a virtue. Some things may come quicker than you think. ;)

Always look a 'gift horse' in the mouth. And get the vet and the chiropractor over for their careful review as well. Such sadness and trouble can come with a 'gift horse' :(

It seems like the posted complaints have gone down, not so many "the sky is falling" from people who haven't even tried it.

I was just there for the last two weeks and asked several different CMs at different FastPass+ kiosks about when we would be able to add the additional FPs using MDE. They said it was coming, probably sooner rather than later, but could not give me an exact date.

This last trip was the first time I have used FastPass+ and we really enjoyed it much better than the previous system of having to run all over the park to get the FPs. The only thing I did not like is if your plans change mid day and you want to change parks, you cannot cancel your FPs to rebook at a different park, even if you have not used them yet. we loved the flexibilty of changing times & rides as the day went by (assuming there was still availability). Every FP was pretty much a walkon, except for Soarin which for whatever reason ALWAYS seems to take forever, even prior to the new system.

The HS/Epcot tier system is kind of annoying but I totally get why they did it. I would be devastated if I could not get on ANY good rides.

I have two questions please...
1. What is the official Disney site that explains all the fast pass rules now.
2. There are 6 in our family. Can we get different fast passes or do we have to stay together. Can some get their 4th or 5th even if someone else in the family hasn't used their first 3 yet. Just thinking that our teenagers now like things we parents don't so how does it work with all of us on the same reservation?

Oh, one more thing - is it possible to get a standard 2 bedroom at bay lake tower 7 mo out for May/June?

Thanks

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/plan/my-disney-experience/fastpass-plus/
This is what it says:
In advance, you can reserve up to 3 FastPass+ experiences per day at one theme park. After you use all of the initial FastPass+ experiences on the day of your visit (or your arrival windows have passed), you can select one additional FastPass+ experience to use that same day (based on availability). The additional FastPass+ experience is a rolling FastPass+ experience—each time you use an additional FastPass+ experience

The whole party does not have to get the same fastpasses and I believe you can get your fourth as long as YOU have used all 3 or the windows have all passed, even if not eveyone in your party has

That is hard to say. Availability flucuates and is never a sure thing.

I really feel like being a PH family we get penalized. I don't understand why we can't pick 3 more FP+ at a different park each day. We pay the extra money to park hop, so I just wish there was that option, I can wish I guess. We found in April of this year the best way to use PH function was to RD at the first park and use our FP+ in the second park later in the day.

With the new ability to add FP+ after you use the first three, our above strategy won't work. Oh well maybe in the future we will be allowed to make more choices in a second park. The MDE will have the ability to know if you have PH when you link your ticket so I can dream right. Anyone else wondering about this or have tips when you are a PH like me and DD? Let me know

With the FP+ system, we have decided it's not worth it to us to park hop anymore. So on our next trip, for the first time, we won't be paying the extra money to park hop. This last trip, it was a big pain to try to obtain the 4th FP+ (long kiosk lines, limited to no availability for the attractions we wanted), so we're planning to just go to one park per day on our next trip.

Oh man, we go next week. Read there were going to be changes in the system. Wish it would happen already. We wanted to add the forth fastpass and headout to a different park. With the package we booked Disney gave us the PH for free. I wonder why. LOL I hope by next week I don't have to visit the Kiosks anymore and I can do it on my phone? :wizard:

Sadly, the app still has some problems that need to be addressed. The first day I was asked by one of the survey takers which version of the app I was using. Well, I had never upgraded the app on my phone so it was extremely out of date. This was at the Hollywood Studios. I was able to upgrade the app and it was working great, or so I thought....

The next day we went to the Magic Kingdom. I had FP+ for the 7DMT, BTM and SpM, and an ADR for BoG, which had the credit card reserve of course. I could not get the app to work at all. It kept asking me to log in, then I'd get a loading screen, then it would go back to asking me to log in. I tried calling (it gave me that option when I couldn't log in) and the Disney tech support told me that I couldn't log in with my email address, and that I had nine :scared1: email addresses linked to my account. All this, even though I had been able to log in just fine the prior day using my email address and my password. We finally went to a FP+ kiosk and they pulled everything up on their screen and I took a picture with my phone. The app was basically useless all day.

The next day was Epcot. Completely opposite experience, the app worked great, I was able to change some FP+ times and even added a FP+ for my daughter who was with her dance team in another park.

The fourth day we were at Animal Kingdom and I again had problems with the app just not working. Did the same procedure with the kiosk and the picture on my phone to keep track of our return times.

We had park hoppers on this trip but it was a complete waste of money. The only way a park hopper will work well is if you can eventually make your 4th, 5th, etc. FP+ with your phone while in another park. I did try and make all my FP+ return times for Animal Kingdom in the morning, so we could have gone back to our villa, then tried to go to a different park in the afternoon, but the app was working so poorly, that might not have worked anyway. They really have to upgrade their WIFI capabilities. I'm sure that had something to do with why the app worked for me in some parks and didn't work in others.

You took the words out of my mouth. We just got back from DW and talked to several folks who were complaining about having to be in the park for the 4th FP. One person even said bring back the old system. Of course I asked, how did you used to get your FPs? You had to be in the park. Their response was yea but ................ then some non-understandable mumbling.
Another awesome feature to the FP+ system is two different times we received a FP alert that one of our selections (Jungle Cruise & Test Track) was down. The system then allowed us to pick another FP from a list of about 7 attractions and gave us the entire day to use it, so no one hour window. Another time, TT was down due to weather. We received an alert letting us know that the attraction was down and that we could pick any attraction from the list and TT was one of them, but the FP was good for as long as the park was open. So we didn't have to walk all the way over to TT, wondering if it was up and running yet, we knew we had all day to go back. Pretty cool if you ask me.:thumbsup2

WE just returned from DW an one of things we did was booked our three FPs 60 days out for later in the day at one of the parks and then did rope drop at a different park and didn't need FPs as we went right on the attractions we wanted. We then left that park after 2-3 hours, hit the pool at BLT where we were staying for awhile and went to the park that we had the FPs for at night. We did this twice and it worked great. There were 9 of us in our party and we had no issues with the FP system. That was even with some people changing their selections and others sticking to the original picks. The only 2 issues were that, 3 of the MBs did not open the villa door, that was fixed quick, and I had to go to guest relations at the MK to prioritize ticket use for two people in our party, once again, no problem. As a matter of fact, the CM even turned the computer screen so that I could see what she was doing and asked me to verify that it was correct. Obviously, we wanted to use the expiring days first and non-expiring days last.:thumbsup2

I certainty am not complaining, just hoping if the FP+ availability for a 4, 5, etc.. Is out there why can't you do it from mobile app when you are a PH. How easy was it for you to get the 4, 5, FP? This function was not available in April, we were only able to do the 3. Interested to know if availability late in the day for popular attractions is even possible? There are only 2 of us on our trip, so maybe a little better chance to get the extra ones later in the day. We will probably always PH even if we can't get more FP later in the day.

We love to shop, dine, and do things park to park every day. It is tough keeping up with my teenage DD who is so in love with all things Disney, she is hoping to get into the college program after she graduates from high school. She would be crushed if we could only be in one park per day.
