UPDATE - ALL restaurants from 2008 back on for the 2009 DDP!

everyone on restaurant watch HAS TO come back next year and ressure everyone on restaurant watch 2010 that it will all work out, k?:lmao:

LOL, that's basically why I'm here. We don't have a definite trip planned for 2009 yet, but we did the waiting game last year because we went in mid-Jan of this year. Last year, though, the updates had started to come out by this time so I'm just as confused as anyone else. My guess would be that they don't want to pay their graphics people to update the brochure twice this year, and it'll all be updated at once rather than twice like last year.

This really ****- I loved the DDP- no appetizer and tips and now, lost most of epcot restaurants and cost more.... This real definitely change the way I plan my disney trip in the future....

Agree, it stinks that the appetizers and tips are not included anymore. We're still going to be doing the DDP for our 2009 trip because the $200 gift card included with the package will cover the tips and a few appetizers here and there, making it functionally equivalent to the 2007 plan, which we liked.

The Epcot restaurants are not "lost." They just haven't been announced for 2009 yet. They most likely will all be back again.

I just downloaded the 2009 dining guide on the dvc member site and it doesn't have many of the restaurant that was on the 2008 guide. Almost 1/2 from epcot and downtown. :confused3

Disney can't add a restaurant's name to the 2009 dining guide until they have a signed contract with the restaurant in hand. Many of the Epcot world showcase restaurants wait until the last minute to work out an agreement each year. It's the same every year... people think they won't be participating and then at the last minute find out they are participating after all.

It's possible that the restaurants you're concerned about won't participate in 2009, but it's not likely. They know they'll have a lot more guests filling their tables if they participate than if they don't.

my reservationist (is that a word) said I get 2 snacks
Maybe they meant two total per night if there are two in your group. :confused3
2 snacks each per night would not be the regular DDP.
You might want to clarify what they meant, as I doubt very much you will be receiving 2 snacks pp per night. Unless you booked something different than what you think.

Thanks for clearing that up... I was a little nervous- I just came back from my trip last week and looking to book again in Feb. since i have DVC points left over. I guess i'll wait few more weeks to see if anything changes.

You don't have to post on a thread to subscribe either, you can just go under "thread tools" to subscribe.:)

ty sondra. I mentioned that and got bashed so I edited my post.
Thankfully a moderator deleted the wonderful post where I got picked on for basically saying the same thing, albeit with probably a little bit less tact than you did.

I hope that is the case. I wonder if there is a way to figure out the numbers, I am sure the restaurants have an idea of how many people pay vs. using the DDP.

Would people actually not go to these restaurants simply because they aren't participating or would the love of the food still cause them to go even if they had to pay out of pocket?

I for one only goes to these table service restaurant because of the ddp- the food is good ... but not good enough for those prices.

I agree, I think though that it would be interesting to see what the ratio actually is, although we will probably never know.

I do not know how much to trust this... but I just called Disney Dining and asked if the CRS places are on the 09 DDP and the lady told me that Maya Grill is on there. She said that she tried to make a ressie under the DDP for Maya and it took it as being on the list. She told me a couple in Epcot were still not letting her book under the DDP. Just thought I would let you know what she told me. I still waiting for the final list because all Dining CM say different things.

The ones I'd pay OOP for are mostly the ones not yet on the list. I'd happily pay OOP for Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining and maybe Tutto Italia, but I only go to others (Le Cellier, Sci-Fi, Brown Derby, many of the resort restaurants, etc) because they're on the plan. So if the plan doesn't include the non-Disney owned restaurants we'd just skip it, eat at the restaurants we enjoy most, and maybe even venture off site (or more likely to the Swan/Dolphin restaurants, Fultons, Rainforest Cafe, etc).

We sooooo want to eat at Teppan Edo and I am getting impatient waiting for the final list.

I spoke with a CM re: CSR and the maya is on it and tutto italia..i also pulled up wdw participating restaurants and more have been added:worship:

Surely those who are booked for Jan/09 want to know what is on the plan or not on the plan, this makes no sense.......
