We just got back last week and it's time to start our QSDP reviews. We had gotten a pin for free quick service dining at any resort so we chose Port Orleans French Quarter as that is our FAVORITE mod.

First off I want to preface this report by saying we are foodies. We are three adults me, dh and 24 year old ds. We enjoy eating and having fun. We had NEVER done the QSDP before only the regular DDP so we had the usual concerns. Would it be enough food? Would it get boring? Would we be disappointed not eating in all or familiar places?

I am beyond happy to say the QSDP was the BEST!!!! We loved it and I mean we loved it. The spontaneous way we were able to dine was perfect. The diversity of really good food available perfect. The peacefulness of not rushing from one place to another to make a priority seating reservation beyond perfect.

So here we go...

We arrived on Saturday after a GREAT flight on JetBlue ( I hadn't flown in 11 years so this was a biggie for me) and after being dropped off at POFQ by the Magical Express we headed right to MK. We were starved our flight left NY at 6:45 am so other than a bag of chips on the plane we were ready to "mangia" (that means eat in Italian, sorry).

We headed to Columbia Harbor House. Now, no screaming please but we were delirious from hunger and forgot to take a picture but not to worry I can describe in detail...lol

COLUMBIA HARBOR HOUSE- Received an A from us all the way around. My son and I both had the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich. Perfection on multigrain toast. This sandwich was white tuna with lettuce and tomato on toasted multigrain bun with potato chips. The tuna salad was ice cold and so fresh tasting. My husband had the fried shrimp basket that consisted of a large portion of fried shrimp that was erved with cole slaw and steamed fresh broccoli, or French Fries. Guess what he chose? Yup, the fries. He loved it. We had sweet teas to drink and my son and I had the apple crisp for dessert and hubby chose the strawberry yogurt. OK, seriously strawberry yogurt??? At home he wouldn't touch a yogurt, but hey whatever, it's Disney  We sat upstairs and just relaxed. We watched people coming and going from the Haunted Mansion ride and really began to relax...We were in DISNEY :cool1::yay:

Columbia Harbor House is (was) the best kept secret in MK.

We eat there two or three tmes each trip.

paw:109 days until our next trip

Saturday evening we went back to the room and unpacked and got settled. Love that Magical Express. Our luggage was waiting for us as well as a Mickey head towel animal. We decided on Wolfgang Puck Express for dinner being our close proximity at POFQ to Downtown Disney.

WOLFGANG PUCK EXPRESS I give this eatery a B+
The real plus here is that you order your food and waitstaff actually brings it to you and clears your dishes. That is an added plus when you eat the QSDP. Now I had seen pics of the bacon wrapped meatloaf and I must admit I couldn't wait to try it. For some reason (probably because I am me) I believed the gravy all over the meat was a savory brown gravy. Nope, not at all. It is almost like a tangy BBQ sauce. My son and husband loved it. I on the other hand wasn't thrilled (ducking here). It was OK but it just wasn't what I was expecting. The fried onion straws were a nice touch but the real show stopper was the potatoes. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were AMAZING!! So creamy and perfectly seasoned. For dessert my son and I had the creme brulee and my husband the creme brulee cheesecake. Both were delish but I must say the cheesecake was over the top delicious. I wanted hubby to trade and he just licked his fork with gusto and declined :confused3.

Great start! WPE is the best QS location hands down. I'm a big fan of the meatloaf, but I can understand why you were disappointed if it wasn't what you expected with the sauce. DH & I were in WDW about the same time as you, so I can't wait to see your dining from that same time. Can't wait to read more! :thumbsup2

The next day, Sunday, we headed to Hollywood Studios. I had been dreaming of Starring Rolls Cafe since our last trip and again it did not disappoint.

Starring Rolls Cafe I gave this eatery an A. Hubby and I each had the turkey focaccia and ds had the black forest ham sandwich. Each sandwich came with a drink, bag of chips or fruit, and any one of their amazing and I mean amazing desserts. The eating area is outside but it has umbrella tables and it was pleasant. Both sandwiches were fresh tasting and super huge. For dessert I got the Butterfinger cupcake (oooh baby) hubby got the Napoleaon, and ds the banana split pastry. All of them were top notch and we were beyond stuffed when we finished. Really great meal!! Dh and I had eaten half our sandwich already when ds reminded us about pictures that's why his ham looks a bit "messy" and his chips are askew...lol~

Thank you everyone for following along!! It makes writing the reviews so much more fun knowing you are all along for the ride !! Wait until you see our snack pics...

More coming right up...

Here are some of the "yummies" you can get with snack credits at Beverly Sunset Sweet Spells (I think that's the name) on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood Studios...

Monday was EPCOT and I heard so much about Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway we just had to try it. The food was again very good and plentiful. The nice aspect of Kringla was that they either gave you a garden salad or fruit salad as a side with your entree. This was a very nice touch.

Kringla Bakeri og Cafe I gave this eatery a B+. I had the Norwegian Club Sandwich which was turkey, ham, and bacon. I asked them to toast it and it was AMAZING! Really really tasty. I also picked the garden salad for my side and it even came with sliced cheese on it. Very good again. The biggest disappointment for me was the chocolate drizzled sweet pretzel. It really was just OK at best. It tasted somewhat flavorless and the texture was blah. Maybe it wasn't fresh I'm not sure but it just didn't do it for me.
DH got the roast beef sandwich but he didn't want his heated. It had cheese on it and he said it was very good. He got the garden salad as well and picked the Berry Cream Puff for dessert. OH MY!!! I so should have ordered this. The cream was not overly sweet and the berries were so big, ripe, and juicy. Again, I humbly pleaded for him to trade desserts again, the fork was licked, and head was shaken...WHATEVER!!
DS ordered the ham and apple sandwich heated. Again, another positive vote. He devoured it. He had the fruit salad on the side and the sweet almond pretzel for dessert. He said everything was great!! I would definitely return here without hesitation!

Your sandwich sounds right up my alley...and that cream puff! Well I would be guilty of eating the cream and fruit and ditching the puff part :rotfl:

Beautiful report so far! Thanks for doing it.

I'm not a fan of that chocolate covered pretzel from Norway, either! Surprisingly, the sweet almond one is MUCH better...and I usually don't care too much for almonds. In fact, my whole family can't wait to go back to have that almond one again. Did your DS let you taste his?

OMG Now I'm sooo HUNGRY:laughing:
Great photos. i really wanna try those Caramel Apples but--$10 is a little too much. I can't wait to try WPE when I go in October.

I need to backtrack just a bit. These are missing pictures because we went back to the room and hubby kept forgetting to bring the camera back at night:confused::confused:
..
We ate dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express again on Sunday after Hollywood Studios

Wolfgang Puck Express I ordered different this time no meatloaf for me. I ordered their Pasta and Meatballs. I am Italian, I am from NY, hence I know a bit about pasta and a bit about meatballs. For a Disney World Italian food location this was excellent!! I mean it. The pasta was al dente the meatballs were packed with meat and not a lot of fillers. Very very good. Would highly recommend. DH had the meatloaf again he really loved it and DS had the Chicken and pasta Alfredo. He loved that! This was a much better meal for me at WPE and I even ordered the creme brulee cheesecake and it was super good.

On Monday after EPCOT we ate at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory
at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory OK this was just a mediocre meal for us for one reason; salt. This meal was sooo loaded with sodium I literally felt 20 pounds heavier the next morning. Hubby and I both had the fried chicken dinner. It was cooked really well, nice and crisp bu the chicken (not even the skin) tasted salty like they had brined it which they could very well have. It came with mashed potatoes (very good) and I had collards (salt city). Our ds had the rib and chicken dinner which he loved; actually couldn't even finish. We all had 3 Beignets for dessert and they were heavenly. I actually saved 2 of mine for breakfast the next day. Albeit a bit chewy but still good ;).

Thanks for the warning on the fried chicken, looks like we are going to stay at POFQ in Oct and that would be something I would order but its no fun waking up the next day with sausage fingers and toes from the salt lol!
