World Showcase Pavilions

We planned on taking our time to explore what all the World Showcase pavilions had to offer. We normally breeze right through or skip some countries all together so we were in for some new treats, starting with Canada. We walked up the stairs and enjoyed the sights of the waterfall for a little bit. We almost went to watch the O Canada! film, but opted to pass. We knew we'd be back in Canada later for dinner, so we moved onto the United Kingdom. We walked through the souvenir shop and discovered Christopher Robin's room in the back, which was a total surprise. It's one of those little Disney things that I had no clue existed. We walked through the shops of France drooling over the fragrances of the perfumes and desserts. I made a mental note that France would be a contender for dessert later in the evening. Morocco was completely deserted, which was kind of an eerie feeling, but we enjoyed looking at all the knick-knacks. I started to get a little overheated and tired, so I asked Chris if we could take a break. We picked a marble bench in the shade and reminisced over the areas in Morocco we had taken bridal pictures at in 2011. Then we went through the giant gift shop in Japan and came out towards the back near the anime exhibition. We cringed a little, but ventured inside since we had never done it before. It was a nice little space, but completely empty. Portions of EPCOT need to be revamped badly, this area being one of them. I'm sure a whole section dedicated to Studio Ghibli would do so much better than just a generic overview of Japanese anime, but that's just me. :confused3

Our next stop around the world was The American Adventure pavilion. I know this is going to come as a shock to some of you, but we had never stepped foot inside this pavilion before! :guilty: Chris always says, "we're from the USA, I don't need to see it", but I managed to drag him inside this time. We arrived right as the Voices of Liberty were singing, so we grabbed a bench and listened to a few songs. The pavilion was really pretty. We even went to explore the gardens and saw where Bethie had her vow renewal! :bride:

We finally went in America!

We passed Italy, because it was roped off for some street performances, which we didn't feel like watching. The scents and sights of caramel made Germany the second contender for dessert in the evening. I tried to find Mulan in China because she is my favorite, but I never seem to time the character sightings right. We didn't feel like waiting, so we went to our favorite pavilion, Norway. We rode Maelstrom, went though the gift shop, and hung out with vikings. Last on the list was Mexico. We went inside and decided to cool off with some drinks from La Cava del Tequila, since tequila is my favorite! Chris had a classic margarita and I had a pomegranate margarita.

This place was nice and quiet and felt so secluded from the rest of Walt Disney World. I will definitely be returning here again! :thumbsup2

It was almost time to use our fast passes, so we headed back over to ride Soarin' and then jumped on Living with the Land and Nemo while we were in the same area. Once we were done, we decided to head back over to Canada to get ready for our dinner at Le Cellier!

I love the new Test Track! We also had a blast during the design phase - we made the most ridiculous looking car and were cracking up the whole time! It was a blast!

You should really try to visit during the Flower and Garden festival sometime. I thought it was fantastic, especially now that they added the food/drink booths! ;)

I don't want to get too excited, but there is a good possibility that I could be going to the Flower and Garden Festival in 2014! Quite a few friends of mine are asking us to go back to Disney!

 It's not like me to take so long to write up a trip report, so please pardon me.
I've been caught up in so many crazy things this summer like, closing my old Disney Store, getting transferred to a new Disney Store, moving to another state, and starting grad school. I have a little bit of downtime in the next week, so I'm gonna try and finish this up! :thumbsup2

Dinner at Le Cellier

Being on the DISboards, I've learned that Le Cellier is probably the most raved about restaurant on Disney property, so I was excited to finally try this dinner for myself!

We arrived a little before our reservation, but they managed to seat us right away since the dining room was at half-capacity. Even though there were plenty of empty tables, we were placed next to another couple in a line of 2-seater tables against the wall. This was the closest table/seating configuration I've ever experienced at Disney and did not enjoy it. I felt like there was no way for me to carry a conversation without half the restaurant joining in. Needless to say, I whispered to Chris the whole meal.

Anyways, we moved on to the menus to make our selections. When we opened them, we were in for quite the surprise. They were light up menus--so clever for the low-light atmosphere!

A spell book? Nah, just a light up menu

We both ended up ordering the same things: the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup and the "Le Cellier" Mushroom Fillet Mignon. The soup was so creamy and the pretzel breadstick was one of the softest pieces of bread I've ever eaten. I sopped up every ounce of that soup with the bread. The fillet was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were very tender. In the end, they really did live up to the hype. :thumbsup2

After dinner, we decided to go over to Mouse Gear to pick up a few souvies. I added a Sofia the First pin to my collection, but didn't really find anything else of interest until Chris picked out Oswald ears and then I spotted A MULAN HAT (my favorite character)! I was so ecstatic I almost began to cry.

Seriously, isn't this an awesome hat?!

From here, we decided we had digested enough of our food to go brave drinks at Club Cool. This was another first for us so we didn't know exactly what to expect when sampling, except that Beverly was disgusting. Following in the footsteps of my friend, Jackie, I made sure to take our reaction pictures when trying Beverly.

I don't think Chris knew what he had just ingested

A little apprehensive

We made sure to try all of the flavors. Some sodas were too sweet, some were just plain gross, but overall it was a pretty neat place to try.

The sun started to set and crowds were picking their spots for Illuminations. I made my decision and went with the bakery in France for our final treat. Chris got some fruit-filled dessert (that he inhaled so I never managed to get a picture) and I got a chocolate-mousse tart. SO good.

We sat on a bench in France, while I finished my dessert, and decided to leave before Illuminations began so we wouldn't have to deal with the crowds. We bid farewell to my favorite park and headed back to Art of Animation.

New Fantasyland

We woke up the next morning ready for our Magic Kingdom day. The game plan was to head straight for New Fantasyland and go on Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid! I couldn't help but get overwhelmed when I walked through the castle gate. Everything was beautiful and I felt like I was truly apart of each story. I can't wait to go back once Snow White's ride is open. :cheer2:

Beast's castle!

We got to Prince Eric's castle, got a FastPass, and then jumped in line. We walked right on and I was SO excited...until we started to descend to the fathoms below and our clam car did not rotate properly. :scared: It was quite frightening, actually, because we were falling out of the car and towards the other guests ahead of us. Once we leveled out we missed the rest of the ride because our clam-mobile didn't turn to face the scenes. We got off and told a cast member that our clam was broken and they let us hop right back on! The second time around was so much better. It was such a cute ride and I was very impressed with all of the details. After we had finished our second journey, it was time to use our FastPass, so we went back for a third time.

Under the sea!

Once we had gotten our dose of Ariel, we decided to head over to Gaston's Tavern for some breakfast.

We each ordered a LeFou Brew in the souvenir cups and a cinnamon roll to split. The cinnamon roll was so fresh, soft, and the perfect size to share. The LeFou Brew was a little on the sweet side, but was actually pretty refreshing.

Breakfast

My highest expectation was actually for the decor in Gaston's Tavern. I could ultimately care less about what the food was like (and that's crazy since I'm a huge foodie), but it would not have made the experience if it was completely lame. However, it was pure magic. pixiedust: Guys, I was able to sit in Gaston's chair and admire all of his decorating! Look at these details:

From here, I told Chris I wanted to attempt to try and stand in line for lunch at Be Our Guest (mind you, it was like 9 something in the morning and we would probably be standing for about 3 hours :crazy2: ). I was not able to snag a reservation before our trip and was completely bummed out, but I had read that if you lined up super early, you'd have a fairly good chance of getting in. When we arrived, we saw a few groups of guests turning around and walking away from cast members standing on the bridge. Things didn't look very promising, but we went up anyways. Turns out we were in the right place at the right time, because when we walked up to the cast members, they asked us if we'd like to be a part of their FastPass+ test for the restaurant! :thumbsup2 I jumped on the chance and practically grabbed the tickets out of their hand. Chris and I giddily walked away to digest what just happened. WE WERE GOING IN!!! :dance3:

Lunch at Be Our Guest

We didn't have much time before our Be Our Guest FastPass+ time, so we quickly went to pick up a FastPass for Space Mountain and then turned right back around. I think I was still in disbelief that we were able to try the restaurant, that is, until we approached the castle and saw the massive stand-by line that we were able to bypass. :p I snapped right out of the fog and giddily skipped down the bridge to the castle...We were able to walk right in!

Stand-by for lunch

You can see the ballroom as soon as you enter the restaurant. Needless to say, I started to tear up.

We turned to the right and went down a hallway lined by the armored guards. The line split up into two sections and also had menus posted for those waiting to order.

If it's not Baroque… ;)

Now, since I religiously read trip reports I kind of knew that the order process had to be quick and I also knew what wanted to eat, however, poor Chris was in the dark. The cast member at the register was very upset that Chris wasn't prepared with his choice, so he kinda just picked the first thing that stood out. :confused3 We cashed out, received our magic rose, and proceeded to pick out our table in the ballroom.

Guys, I'm SO excited!

It's snowing!

Our food arrived very quickly, which is a plus. I ended up ordering the Ham and Cheese sandwich with a Chocolate Cupcake and Chris had the Steak Sandwich. I was too busy with picture taking and watching the "snow" fall outside to notice that Chris had hardly eaten any of his sandwich. Come to find out, he was having a pretty horrible experience. He did not enjoy the order process and his sandwich was on the verge of being inedible (big, tough piece of bland steak). I thought my lunch was very good, but I suppose it is kind of hard to mess up a simple ham and cheese. I was very upset to know he wasn't enjoying Be Our Guest and kept reassuring him that it was because it was still in the test phase and that lunch is always more underwhelming than dinner. He swore he'd never return. Oh well.

After our meal, we wandered into the other 2 themed dining rooms to take a few more pictures. Each one of them beautiful in their own way and superbly detailed.

I wanted to get Chris out of there as quickly as possible so he wouldn't rub his negativity off on me, so we decided to head back towards Space Mountain and also meet up with my friend, Lauren!

Rides with Lauren

Chris and I decided hop on Space Mountain and have my friend meet up with us at the end of the ride in the gift shop. Lauren is a fellow Disney Store cast member and was actually in Disney World at the time for the College Program. She dished all the details of her program and sounded like she was having a ball. We ended up riding on the People Mover, Carousel of Progress (her first time!), and Haunted Mansion together before she had to dash out to get ready for her shift.

Meet Lauren!

We said our goodbyes and then headed over to the new Storybook Circus area. We got in line for Dumbo and loved the queue. We only waited in the children's play area about 10 minutes before we were in line again.

On Dumbo

We always seem to have horrible luck picking out our elephant cars--and this time was no exception. We never lifted off the ground. :( Dud elephant aside, it was a beautifully redesigned version of the previous classic and is definitely more efficient for high-volume crowds.

We walked across the way and hopped on the train (a first for me!), and rode it over to the Main Street entrance.

My first time on the train!

Chris and I were getting worn out, so we decided to call it a day and headed back to our resort. Later that evening, we walked across to POP Century and get some Tie-Dye Cheesecake. :) I absolutely love that stuff and Chris had never had it before. I posed for a picture with Duffy and I sharing a piece and sent it to my Disney Store cast. :upsidedow

Dessert!

We headed back to the room and started to pack up for our departure in the morning. :(

Departure

The plan this morning was to check out and go have breakfast at Kona Cafe in the Polynesian Resort. My father had driven over from the Gulf-side of Florida and was going to take us back over so we could visit with my niece. We were seated almost immediately and had a very filling breakfast. I made sure to order my favorite: Tonga Toast! :lovestruc

We wrapped up our meal and took a small walk around the lobby before hitting the road. I snapped one final shot with Duffy in the Poly and sent it to my Disney Store family.

ALOHA!

And with that, another Disney trip had come and gone.

I hope you all enjoyed our little adventure and thank you so much for reading along! (It took me a while, but I finally finished! :thumbsup2 ) There is one more post that I have which I'm sure many of you will be interested in: the [dreaded] invoice breakdown!

:)

The End

I kept all of the receipts (minus Splitsville because Chris paid for that) and was able to track all the money we spent on food and souvenirs.

*I also left out our resort fees, which included a $70.88 deposit, plus remaining balance of $141.76 at check in, resulting in: $212.64 for 3 nights after the cast member discount.

Overall, I spent $532.63.

Hopefully that will help some of you with budgeting. I know it's crazy to view numbers like that and see how quickly the money disappears!

I'm sorry Chris didn't enjoy Be Our Guest! We've had dinner there twice and absolutely loved it. But it sounds like they still had some kinks to work out for the lunch. I hope he's willing to give it another try eventually!

And you're so organized with your spending and your spreadsheet! I've been starting to do that for food, but I would love to try and keep track of all the souvenirs too ;)

Thanks, Becky! I hope I can convince him for dinner too. I'm sure the idea of table service will be more appealing to him. I think I've turned him into a Disney dining snob! :snooty::lmao:

It's crazy to see where all the money goes!
