This is a continuation from my prior "Up on the Roof" post.
I think I got my directions all mixed up but this is a definitely sorta western-looking direction: <IMG width= "300" SRC="http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid64/p3a77edca06335d6fae47212d4a47f64c/fbff8fc7.jpg">You can see the metal shed we first had put up. The area enclosed to its right is our hot tub area. You can see our deck, my two "swamp" maples, the barbecue DH was cleaning, another decidious tree which I forgot what it is and an evergreen tree.
To the right of the evergreen is a deep shade area and this spring I moved several hostas over there. (You can barely see them.) I took out some Siberian iris plants from there and moved those to the front and they are getting buds now! I left some lily plants that were there alone because even though they didn't do well in previous years, this spring they seemed to multiply and I wanna see how they flower. If they don't flower well, I will move them to a more sunny area. This is where I wanna put some lily of the Valley along with the hostas.
Not much else to see here except my CLEAN GUTTERS!! I did a great job!
Now, let's look the other way!:

There used to be on this side of the fence three large maple trees which we took down on our own. Inside the pool area there was a crabapple tree which was the first tree we took down (who puts a crab apple tree right next to a pool??) On the far end of the pool area there used to be two HUGE blue spruce trees. They were gorgeous and we had such privacy. But they were growing on the lower level in front of the wall (which used to be rotting railroad ties) and the branches covered the entire cement area right up to the pool. At first we just sorta umbrella'd them. Ya know, cut the lower branches up but still, the pine needles were too much. It killed me to have them removed. I wish I was into taking "Up on the Roof" pictures back then so there could be a comparison shot.
Same area, closer shot:

We keep our garbage cans, old bricks and such in that little coral area in front of the shed. There used to be another swamp maple in this area just behind those two small evergreen bushes but it had been rotting out since before we lived here. Then it was hit by lightening a few years back and we came home to our house and car covered with a very large branch and fortunately, no damage. Then the next year when another large branch fell into the pool during a wind storm, ripping the winter cover, we decided it had to be removed too.
The pool is completely fenced in by chainlink. I had all the evergreens professionally topped years ago because they were much higher and I attempt to maintain their size. They have filled in quite a bit since topping them.
So, you get a bird's eye view of my problem area behind the pool which used to have nothing there because the blue spruces hid that area. Oh, they did have the same evergreens bordering that side also but because they didn't get much light for so many years they were not worth saving and we removed them.
I now have Rose of Sharon along that fence line and in that area is also my hydrangea and my new mountain laurel and two (oops - now three) azaleas, my peonys, the canna lily DH got me last month, scarlet corabells, blackeye susans and some dianthas that came back this year (I thought they were annuals).
Gosh, I could go on talking all night about this area. I haven't even touched about the side where the circle patio is. But I am probably boring you all to death if you are even reading this far. Teenson just came home and I think it's time for me to hit the sack too. Thanks for popping in here and checking out my yard.
Any constructive suggestions would be very welcomed.
