I am not a fan of George Clooney personally, but he is an excellent actor and generally finds himself in a good movie. We went to see "Up in the Air" this past weekend. It's about a guy who travels around the country firing employees for companies and bosses that don't have the guts to do it themselves. Those who have been fired can probably relate to many of those in the movie, but they were not the focus of the story, Ryan Bingham (George Clooney) was. His aspiration? to make the 10 million miler club. He lives in hotels and airports and is home just about 44 days a year. Its an unromantic comedy with stereotypes; "Get in the security line behind Asians, they travel light". "Don't get in line behind a family with kids, there is no stroller than can collapse in less than 20 minutes". "Don't get in line behind old people, they are oblivious to how much time they actually have left on earth". He is an easy guy to like. He is an easy guy to dislike. He is a corporate 'HITMAN'.He will appeal to your cynical side. While it won't go down as a great movie, I was thoroughly entertained.

It's been getting really good reviews from what I've heard, and has been nominated for something like 6 Golden Globes. I'll probably end up going to see it because quite a bit of it was filmed in St. Louis (including some in the lobby of my office building, as well as in the church where my parents were married.)

i read the movie spoiler for it, and it looked really good! i totally forgot about it, and today is the discount day for movies at the theater...darnit.
