Unwanted Guest and Heat Wave!!

We stayed this month at OKW, the first unit we had we opened the dishwasher to put some glasses away for the evening and inside was a very large roach. I called the next morning and they came over during the day when we were gone and sprayed. My wife shut the dishwasher with the roach in it and we never opened it again. We don't eat in the units so it did not present too much of a problem except it made us uneasy about our luggage, etc. The next week we had another unit which we went into about 6 at night the temp outside was about 55 degrees inside it was 92. I called house keeping and reported it. I opened the doors for an hour or two and shut the heat off and turned on the air. It is getting so I expect some kind of problem everytime I enter one of these units at OKW. There were some small problems that I repaired like the front closet door falling off and some of the blinds were all screwed up. When we went down there in October there were no problems which was a treat.

Oh my! I would be no good at fixing anything, it's a shame you had to spend some vacation time on work, but maybe you like to putter around? Dh called housekeeping when a door wouldn't stay on track. It was fixed.

Bugs are in Florida, everywhere, but I agree, I would be squeemish about my luggage and worried that I would be bringing something home with me.

I hope your next many vacations at OKW are without (bad) incidents.

I was looking all over for Roachy when we left OKW after the Marathon. Were you in Bldg 35? That's where we left him. Though we did see him over near the bus stop one morning. We really have to stop leaving our pets behind for other people to find.

Hey with anyplace in Florida, I don't care how clean it is you are gonna find bugs. If you only saw I then you are in good shape!

Sorry you had problems. Try Boardwalk Villas - they are very clean and since they are smaller, all the discerning bugs head for OKW! Just kidding........

roaches and ants are ubiquitous in FL, almost impossible to keep them away forever. I wouldn't worry about it but bet you'll see both types again in your stays.

We had ants at Boardwalk, so it isn't immuned to bugs.

Luckily we haven't seen a roach! YUK!

We had ants at OKW also (in the laundry room of all places!)

I was thinking we should bring bug spray with us, but then I was afraid it would leak in our luggage.

Guess we will just hope for the best.

I would love to know what building you were in. I stayed at OKW in Aug. and building 62 - 2 bedroom and loved it. Not a single problem.

He must of ran across the street that is where we were staying. Our unit was right behind the bus stop. Another rule broken at OKW!!!

I have been staying at OKW since 94 and that was the first bug I saw inside the units. Hope it is my last!
