I would love some suggestions for what to do after we get off the ship. My DH, DS and I will be heading to the Swan for 5 days once we get off the Magic but first we have to get DD to the airport for a 3:00 flight home. The problem is that the kids (18 and 14) are usually wiped out after the "last night" partying. My initial thought was to get a day room at the Hyatt MCO and let the kids rest, get DD on her plane and then head to WDW. I've already tried the Hyatt Airport and they are booked. We will have our own car. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

We just did the Hyatt thing - I thought the kids (4 teens) would use the pool before our 3pm flight, but the paid for a movie and proceeded to all fall asleep about 15 minutes into it! They were so tired that I can't imagine they would've been good for anything but sleep that day. You could keep trying the Hyatt - in fact, they'll probably have day rooms open up that day. It was well worth it.

You might want to look into getting a day room at an MCO area hotel via Priceline. If you bid at the highest star level, you will get one that is very close to the airport for $28 to $33 (probably the Marriott or the Renaissance). All of the ones that I have stayed at have pools. They are near the North Exit of the airport, in the same vicinity where the Hertz and Thrift rental car lots are located, and there are plenty of restaurants around too.

Would it not just be easier to go to the Swan ask for early check in ...and then take DD to the airport from there...???/
Can hang at the Swan and enjoy everything they have to offer lunch at the board walk .... only takes 30 - 45 minutes to go to airport.... IS she the 14 yr old.... u will be off the ship by 9 am
could be at the world by 10ish ????

We had a 3:00 flight as well. We got to the airport by 10:00. We had muffins and coffee (the kids hadn't eaten much breakfast at 6:45!), then DH sat with the luggage while the kids and I shopped. By 11:30 we went up to Chili's for lunch. Then it was my turn to watch the carryons while the kids and DH did some more shopping. By 1:00 or 1:30 it was time to head through to the gates - security in Orlando can take half an hour to get through. We plugged in the DVD player for the kids and sat and read by the gate. We boarded at 2:30.

I had anticipated a HORRIBLE five hour wait in the airport and was already regretting passing on the day room, but with lunch, a little shopping and a DVD player, it really wasn't bad. We were all tired, so no one was interested in doing much more than sitting, reading and watching movies.

Thanks for all the great ideas! We might just head back to the Swan and leave for the airport from there. That way, DH and DS can relax and enjoy the hotel while I take DD to the airport. She is the 18 year old and has to get back to reality and work....gotta save that money for college!!

Thanks!

We used the "day room" at the Hyatt this week. It was well worth the $60. We got to MCO at 8:45 am. Checked into the Hyatt at 9;00 am. Our flight wasn't until 4;50 pm.

We took a nap, relaxed at the pool, watched some T.V. in the privacy of our room. Then had lunch in the airport, walked to our gate at 4:00. I will do this every time unless we get a flight before 12:30 pm.::yes::

If u felt comfortable u could just put her on the shuttle from The Swan Mears does a pick up there ..... i think it is About $25.00

Could set that up when u arrived at the Swan...

If I understand your original post, the Hyatt told you they were sold out -- DON'T believe them. They did the same thing to me -- infact told me there was no such rate.

I called the 800# for Hyatt and had it booked in a matter of moments!

We used the room yesterday after our cruise and it was super awesome to be able to sleep and shower before our 4:30 flight home.

We picked up a few more charms at the Disney Earport, ate at Chili's, napped, showered and proceeded to our gate with no inconvenience at all! It was awesome to have somewhere to put our carryons while we ate/etc.

We cleared security in less than 15 minutes and our line was passed the initial ID check point.
