Unusual/note worthy deserts

I wondered if anyone could tell me which Disney restaurants (either the parks or resorts) have unusual/fun deserts for kids?

For example I’ve seen one where the kids ‘paint’ on chocolate but I’ve no idea where it’s from?

Are there any other standout kids deserts?

Thanks

They have a dessert that kids can "paint" at Sanaa - and I think Artist Point still has something similar, too. As far as other unusual desserts for kids, Skipper Canteen has a volcano type dessert and California Grill has rice krispie treat "sushi" with Swedish fish that I thought was really cute. :)

Nothing interactive, but the Cotton-Top Tamarin cupcake at Animal Kingdom looks really cute, and it's like two desserts in one--candy and cupcake.

And when you're in HS, maybe try one of those Darth Vader cupcakes. So much chocolate! And peanut butter. Lots to peanut butter.

Edit: Sorry, not restaurant desserts, as you requested.

Omg yes the Darth Vader cupcake!! My niece got one for free for her birthday and it was the best cupcake we had throughout our whole vacation!

Also, the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream is pretty fun to try.

Thanks. These look great. The one at Sanaa was the one I was thinking of so that’s brilliant I’ve tracked it down.

Thank you. That cotton top tamarin cupcake looks fab. Definitely putting that on the list

Thank you we are staying at the beach club for part of our trip so definitely up for the kitchen sink challenge - although it looks huge! I think the kids will be impressed with that one,

DH and I went in thinking we would just order shakes and have a meal, but we couldn't help ourselves when we saw other people getting the kitchen sink. It's really hard to NOT get it. We were able to eat quite a bit of it, but we took out the brownies and other dense items and tried just eating the ice cream and small toppings. If we tried it again I would ask for specific toppings/ice cream because we had some weird things in ours and we weren't even sure what they were lol

These aren't unusual but my favorites

Ooey gooey toffee cake at liberty tree

Almond encrusted cheesecake at narcossee

Maple creme Brulee at le Cellier

Banana foster bread pudding at Ohana

There is also a "paint" a chocolate desert at Yachtsman. My son ordered it even when he was a teenager.

Not too unusual, but Kona has something called "The Kona Cone" on the kid's dessert menu. It's essentially build your own ice cream cone with cotton candy on top.

The paint dessert used to be all over the place. I did see it at Saana in March - the kid in our party ordered a fantastic looking version of worms and dirt with chocolate rocks, I think it might currently be on the Artist Point menu. The Le Cellier chocolate moose is cute (it used to be much cuter).

If it hasn't been mentioned yet I believe Jiko has the paintable dessert as well.

My DGD loved the way some of the desserts looked at Flying Fish and showed pictures of them to her cousins who will be joining her this trip and are also anticipating seeing them in the flesh as it were. They actually taste delicious unlike many of the sickly sweet confections you can find at WDW.

I always think it's so cool how they make such a big production of it, blinking the lights, parading the kitchen sink around while reciting the "spiel" (I wonder how everyone knows to yell "a whole can?" at the right moment), then everyone applauds. It's almost worth
it to me, ordering the sundae just for that!

That's exactly why we did it! And they even offered to record it on my phone which was great! I loved every minute of it and it's something we will probably always remember. I tried to get an ADR for our trip in October at 60 days and they were all gone.

It would be unusual and noteworthy to find any deserts in WDW. :rolleyes1 Sorry, the spelling of desert and dessert was drilled into me by my 4th grade teacher.

Lol. I’ve just come back to this thread as had missed the extra posts. Your right it would be interesting to see the feedback from the kids when presented with a ‘desert’!

What days are you looking for? I am going to cancel lunch ones on 10/20 and 10/21 since there is no Pirate Cruise out of the Beach Club either day. I can coordinate with you if either works.

Thanks for thinking of me but we won’t arrive until the 23. I was hoping for a lunch on the 27
