Untitled DL chat thread. Everyone is welcome! Part 12

Oh dear.. that would have me running for the hills!

I know!

I had to go back and edit my statement, it was actually celery, not lettuce. Still! I did take a lot of classes with the professor doing the chimp research, so I did get to tour the facility and see the chimps a couple of times. We had to learn "chimp etiquette" before being around them, and it was very intimidating being in a room with them. I was so afraid to break the rules by looking them in the eye or staring too long or accidentally smiling!

I sat in the back of the room (to minimize any potential damage), but one doofus guy in my class sat front and center, and made it his mission to harrass the chimps. He was staring at them, and smiling and waving his arms when the professor wasn't looking at the class. (These are signs of aggression to a chimp.) The matriarch of the chimp family left the room briefly, but came back, sat and signed with the professor a bit, then opened her mouth and spewed a bunch of water all over the stoopid kid. It was so deserved and so hilarious, but of course we weren't supposed to react in front of the chimps, because it just encourages bad behavior.

I really enjoyed the classes and the professor. He told so many anecdotes about the chimps, and they were really funny or really thought-provoking. Like the chimps used to name all the lab techs, and it had nothing to do with their actual names, since they can't pronounce or spell. One white kid had a big 'fro (very long, curly hair), and so his chimp-given name (sign) was to pat the top of your head, indicating his 'fro.

CooL! I'm getting such a kick out of the TRs from you and Spongie and Shawna! Makes me wish I'd written one up for our last Disney trip. Maybe I'll write one up anyway (way late!) if I can find my notes. I'll have to check the notes and see if anything interesting or funny happened (besides meeting the hyenas, that was OBVIOUSLY a hilight of the trip!!!)

It's never too late for a trip report!! You should write one, that would be cool to read I didn't find Spongie's TR I saw Shawna's and she's so lucky to have seen the HSM cast!

I guess it's a cold. Today I'm sneezing BIG sneezes, and my queasiness is still up and down. I feel better this evening, didn't feel well this morning. On the plus side, DS3, who had a fever last night and didn't sleep well (therefore WE didn't sleep well, waiting for the spewing to begin!) seems to be back to normal. He didn't eat much for lunch, but really chowed down for dinner, which was a surprise.

Thanks, I do hope he's over it now. He seemed pretty happy tonight, though he did go to bed earlier than normal. In fact, I should get to bed. He's probably going to be getting up earlier than normal tomorrow!
