Gotta go. Talk to ya guys later!

Hey, Staley, you still here?
Of course!! how are you doin? We had a very chill day around here to. I got to see dh for a whopping 5 minutes before he went to bed today.but we made up for it when he got up...

Anyways!!!! Alex broke my heart today...
He started crying and telling me how much he missed his grandpa.
I felt SOOO bad for him! All I could do was hold him, and tell him that we all missed him, and we just have to remember how much he loved us.

on the 'making up for it.'
Poor Alex, that's so hard for kids. DS7 is more attached to DH's dad, DS3 to my mom. DS3 was named after DH's grandfather, but he was only a baby when Grandpa passed. DS7 remembers him, though, and occasionally sighs, "I miss Grandpa M. He died, you know..." I just don't know whether to laugh or cry, and wind up doing a little of both.![]()
Damn it, you just made me bawl!Yeah... Alex and my dad bonded from the minute he was born. My dad was there, held him, and that was it for them. We lived with my parents when Alex was a little baby (Alex and I, before dh and I got together.) Alex and my dad were together all the time. They would always sit together on his chair and watch cartoons. That is a HUGE memory for Alex. When we went to Reno for Labor Day.... Alex comes up and sits in my lap... mommy, I want to sit in grandpas chair when we go visit Grandma.![]()
My mom had just given that chair to my sister!!! OMG.... I couldnt even find it in myself to tell him it wouldnt be there.
We walked in the house... and he noticed, and got all quiet... But he never said anything. I told my sister about it, and she was BAWLING. "You put that baby on a plane down here, and he can sit in Grandpas chair all he wants!!!" So he will get to see it when we go to California.
Their bond was unreal. Alex would have chosen Grandpa over me if it came down to it. ALL he would ever talk about was our next trip to see grandpa. They would nap together... play together... grandpa even taught Alex how to pee standing up!
It just sucks... you know?

DS3 is in my lap and just noticed the tears. He put his arm over my shoulder and said sadly, "Mama, you cwyeen." He gave me a pat-pat-pat on the back for good measure. Now he's annoying me trying to stick a forefinger up my nose!![]()
Oh, gee, the pressure!![]()
OK, so DS3 is playing with two plush handpuppets that make noise. The frog one ribbits to a tune when you open and close his mouth. The duck quacks to the tune of Easter Parade. They're pretty cute.![]()
No, I haven't seen those. You mean uncooked ones, right?![]()
That is exciting!
My kids are knocked out... I let them stay up a bit later then usual... They both took really long naps today, plus I wanted dh to sleep in a bit. Have you seen those pre-seasoned chickens at the grocery store? I bought one at walmart the other day...(it was on clearance
) and I swear it is the best chicken I have ever had!!
Even dh, who HATES chicken loved it! They have a package of pre-seasoned chicken breasts at costco, I think I am going to give that a try next!

I do a mean chicken all on my own, and it's sooo easy! Basically take an onion, cut it in half, and cut two slices off it. Then take the remainder, quarter it and put it inside the bird. Then put the two slices under the skin on the breast meat. Then rub margarine over the skin and sprinkle liberally with garlic powder. It is sooo yummy, and the bird comes out super-moist.
I saw something on a cooking show that I'm thinking of trying out. You know how a stuffed bird takes extra long to cook? Well, you take the stuffing and put it in a little foil bowl you've made, and lay it on the center of a cookie sheet. Then break the breast bone of the chicken and cut the bird in half, removing the breast bone. (The two halves are still attached, though.) You lay the butterflied chicken over the stuffing bowl. I think it cooks in like an hour, you don't get the fat in the stuffing or on the bottom of the bird like if it were whole, and all the meat is edible. (The way I currently make it, the bottom meat is really fatty and we don't eat it.)
I've never made stuffing myself, though I've helped my mom at Thanksgiving. So I kinda want to try it out sometime...
Oh, the rack is what I do with it now. But while some of the fat drips out onto the pan, a lot of it stays pooled at the bottom of the bird, probably because of the skin. When the woman on TV cut into the part of the butterflied bird that we don't usually eat, it looked so yummy!Very cool! I have just never had chicken like this before... It was CRAZY good! The flavor went all the way through it! (I cant do onions...![]()
Plus what they do to dh...
) Thats really cool... I have never heard of doing it like that! Have you tried putting you chicken on a rack in your roasting pan? That way the fat drips into the pan, but not onto the chicken.
