SHAWNA!

of course now that I'm back you'll be gone again.

I hope we find a place too, it's very discouraging and put me in a bad mood.

CHRISTINA!!!

I dont have much time because I'm trying to get the kids ready for school but it's SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!

Did you know Morgans DL date has been moved to Nov. 10? We will be there through the 14th!

:rotfl: Well I'm back now but you're gone again. Oh well, I'm hungry and must make food. That's awesome you'll be there in November. where are you guys staying? Are you leaving on the 14th? Or will you have a day in the park on the 14th?

Hi Alison,
Did you get a chance to read my response to WDW yesterday???

SOOOOO.....are you trying to pick a fight or what?:lmao: I seen the response, but I still like WDW better. But that's just my opinion. Maybe I just went to DL so much as a kid that WDW is still new to me. Plus I really love the water parks. But I think probably what really makes me like WDW better is that I don't feel like I'm right in the middle of the city. I know that's what Walt didn't like about DL (all the hotels, fast food, etc...) so he bought lots of land so no one could build right next to it.

Actually I do like both places and I think they both have some good & bad qualities.

Are you allowed to send home baked treats to school?

I don't know the rules here but MN law is NO home made treats. In fact, even bake sales are discouraged.

It was nice at Head Start to say.. sorry that's the law.... less sugary treats sent to school. :thumbsup2 Instead we were force fed at every home visit, "please please eat!" , our families loved us..... and loved food!

Once again the good thing about living in the country - we can send homemade goodies to school. Of course, that's probably because we only have 1 bakery in town and it's only open limited hours.

So what do they do if you Break the Law, send you to jail? Where you are forced to work in the prison kitchen making homemade cookies!:rotfl2: I can just see it now, I'm sorry Mamm, you can't volunteer in your son's classroom this year because you have a prior Felony Cooking Baking for Underage Minors conviction!:lmao: :lmao:

See! Now I guess I have another reason why that I forgot about. I really really try not to use the oven till it gets below 90 or so, since then it costs me more in A/C bills!!! It's still almost 100 degrees here, so you are right, I do start cooking and baking more in the fall/winter than I do now.

I CANNOT wait, we are supposed to hit high 80's by the weekend!!!! It's just a cold front moving through that won't last but a few days, but I'll take it! Isn't that sad that I am able to describe 85 degrees as a cold front? But at this time of year, it's RARE!

Andrea

85 would be a hot front here! Even though I don't have the hot flashes all the time now, my internal body temp. still feels real high. My family had an Intervention with my 2 nights ago. Apparently they are protesting that I had the air conditioning on the other morning when it was 45 degrees outside! This should be a very interesting winter - I'm thinking they might kick me out of the house and make me sleep out in the trailer!:lmao:

ohhhhhhhh ummm hmmmm, DS11 is watching the Smurf's on demand. Why did I like this show as a kid???? :confused3
152.gif

Because it was the only thing on tv! You had your choice: Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner show, Smurfs or the Pink Panther!

Hye! I found Shawna's butt crack friend.

040.gif

Just say no to Crack!

Interesting that this came up this evening... I went to curriculum night @ DS3's preschool, and the teacher said we could bring in cupcakes for birthdays, but they had to be store-bought. I was really surprised, I've never heard that before.

Just bake them yourself, wrap them up real pretty and send the homemade goodies to school in a white paper sack. Tape a little tag to the outside of the bag that says "Suzy's Homemade Treats & Goodies Bakery", they'll never know the difference!:thumbsup2

that's the way it is here too. No homemade stuff. Shoot I honestly was looking forward to knocking out 8 dozen cupcakes in a night like the commercials. I know thats crazy but that just sounded fun. Now I cannot do that. I have to buy the tasteless ones at the store. And cookies???? Oh my I dont like bakery bought cookies but that is all they will take.

See Above!:thumbsup2

Interesting...
Mention poop, and Alison appears.
Display a butt-crack, and Shawna appears! :rotfl2:

Well I would have appeared if I had internet access at home. DH had to work late last night and I was so bored I read an entire Harlequin romance novel in 2 hours!

So Morgan's ankle is dark green with hues of purple. It's about an eight inch long bruise and about 4 inches wide. PRETTY!

OUCH!!!!

So just how bad does Daddy feel? My DH would be absolutely devastated if he'd done something like that. He would be spoiling that child ridiculously. Guilt is a beauiful thing, isn't it? :rotfl2:

DH is feeling guilty because DS has to wear glasses all the time now. He feels like it is a "bad gene" he passed down. Never mind that my family is half blind also!

Dh and I have to find a new place to live because our three months of free living in the company flat are up. All month we have been trying to just get a viewing of a place but by the time we call they were just taken.

This new place shows up on the market (yes only one!) so we call first thing in the morning, we book a viewing for today at 2. We just got back, we liked it so we called to submit an application, guess what it was taken this morning at 11!!!

As it turns out 3000, yes 3000 students have just arrived last week, so we're competing with all them for a place. And they do things so strange here, they rent it to the first person who applies. In canada they take applications for a few days and the choose the best one. So don't have a chance and we have to be out in two weeks.

Put on your jogging shoes Christina! You can outrun those students and get a good place!:thumbsup2

Oh ladies and when you send those secret homemade goodies to school here's a few tips:

1. Take a few small white bakery bags from your local bakery section of the store to put your home baked goodies in, makes them look "professional".

2. Also don't forget to throw in a couple of those small squares of wax coated tissue paper, so it looks like you picked them up at a bakery!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm so in trouble if the Dis morality police are reading our thread! There will probably be an entire thread devoted to the horrible lady that breaks the Baked Goods Laws!

Please everyone, don't tell the Baked Goods police where I live! I guess I will now have to scratch MN off my list of possible places to live.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Alison!

No I wasn't trying to pick a fight.:lmao: I just wanted your opinion on what I said. I do agree with you on the part of about the city thing. And we never tried the water parks there, because it was too cold.

On to the baking subject. As much as I hate the "no homemade" law, I can somewhat understand it. If something came to school homemade, and I knew the kitchen it came out of :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: , I don't know... At the school where my kids go, they'll really good about letting us bake in there for parties if we want. So it is still homemade. We just have to let the cafeteria mistress know ahead of time, to make sure we won't be needing the ovens at the same time she does. Now for some schools this might not be allowed, but ours is small enough, and I practically live there too. Geesh...........I've been involved there for 20 years!!!

I also have another ideal. Go to the local super market, and order plain cupcakes or cookies. Bring them to the class along with store bought frosting and sprinkles. You either decorate them yourself right there, or let the kids do it. Bingo!!! :dance3:

Hi Tinkermell, I was just joking about picking a fight over DL vs. WDW! :lmao: My kids had only been to WDW, so June was there first time ever at DL. I asked them which they preferred and they both said WDW also. I would have thought the short flight to CA would have won them over. I think we also have such cruddy weather here all winter that they love to go to Florida in the spring.

Neither of my kids have ever been able to really celebrate their birthdays at school. DD's birthday is during spring break and DS's is during the summer. I'm not much into baking, so if I do send something it's usually those little vanilla/orange sherbert ice cream cups or something similar. I just let the teacher know and drop them off and the cafeteria lady puts them in the freezer until the teacher sends someone down for them!:thumbsup2

So anything new going on with you??

So tell me Tinkermell, how well did you handle your teenage daughter dating?:rotfl2:

No, not so much. I have to go and do some gardening at the moment. Time to dig up all of my annuals and get the soil worked up good. Thinking about doing my own composting, but not sure if I want to bother. :confused3 My garden is way too big. I need to down size it. It's the monster that has gone overboard. What to do.........what to do?

Anyways, have a good day!

I think her dh had the same issues my dh had. About sharing the family time, kwim? I know that Frelan got all stressed out with all the extra people around.
And Staley, your DH was in a fine mood! I actually have pics of him on rides and smiling!!

Andrea

yeah he was fine around me too when we went for the margaritas and Staley, you said he was stressed out because of the heat...so which is it? the xtra people or the heat...make up your mind:lmao:

I didn't know you could do that. Any benefits/drawbacks? How do you do it? :confused3

I would just call and have them put it as a notation on your ressie. I would gather that DLR hotels work the same as other hotels. I did it at the Hojo's in june, and told the that we will be coming in around 9am and they had a room for us. It would just depend on if they have the room available for you. But if they know you are coming in early, you would think that you would have first pick if there is a room available.

keep in mind though that you guys will be there during GD's and the probability of them having a room ready before 3pm is highly unlikely :sad2:

Albort I always wonder so I'm gonna ask, does it bother you that everyone on the dl pages tries to find you or do you care? Some of them are obsessed wtih finding you, it's pretty funny for the rest of us but I always wonder if it freaks you out. :3dglasses

pfft dont let him fool ya christina...he loves it....:rotfl2:

It's actually been a pretty cold summer here. It has been down in the 40's at night this week and the leaves on the trees are starting to turn. I always find Fall kind of depressing, it means the start of the rainy, cold weather. At least with Spring, it might be cold & rainy here, but it holds the promise of Summer!
