Both last year and this I mentioned it to the teacher at the orientation (right before school started) and gave dates and more detail in a follow-up email. Both times the teacher said it was no problem, and was very positive. In fact, this year the teacher said she is all for kids taking trips and having family fun. :thumbsup2

I also went to the office, because I was thinking last year there was some sort of form to fill out. But this year they said no form, just to let them know the dates so the school doesn't call home when he is absent, looking to find out if he was expected to be at home or at school. So that's done already.

We didnt have an orientation before school started, we had one in May.. I think I will head down to the school in a couple of days to talk to the teacher.

I saw this Mickey statue in their store. It's just light plastic and has wheels on the bottom. I asked them if it was for sale and they said "We don't know yet. We'll e-mail you or call you if you'd like to know the price." They said it comes with a hat.

Wow... that is ummmm... Interesting looking. Dh wants the one of Mickey dressed as a Jedi, with a lightsaber. I want to get it for him, but i cant figure out how to get it home!:lmao: :lmao: I guess we could leave Mikalah behind, and put it in her car seat!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well, I'd better get to bed. As Scarlet said, "Tomorrow is another day." :rotfl:

Good night! :cloud9:

EMPD, sorry your day was busy, but thanks for the cute pictures this morning!!!

FunnyG, thanks again! I hope we can meet up in October atleast one day, even if I have to come and get you!! I can pick you up on the way in Wednesday AM and we'll figure something out!!

Moto, thanks for the Tink cake, it was very cute.

Well I just hung out today, a friend invited us over for a playdate for the kids and lunch at her house so I went. DH did call this morning around 9am, to which I was shocked!!! How bad is that? Sometimes I just have to laugh. I am shocked that my own husband called me for my birthday, that's so funny!!!

Anywho, we are going over to my Aunt's for a bit so I'll see you all later!

Andrea

hmmmm, that might be a good idea. Work out details later.

Hi everybody!

What did I miss!?!?!? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I left in July for Florida/WDW/cruise. Came back to Vegas in time for school to start in August, and headed to DL on Labor Day. Can't believe how much I missed the Homeland.

How was your summer?

OMG!! PATTI!!! WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??

HEY LOOK IT'S PATTI!!!

i have not said anything to my DD she would be crushed about vanessa but she also realizes that she is just playing a actor on HSM so that helps a bit

I agree that it's not a wise thing to do; however, I consider myself a fairly conservative and very level headed person, and trust me, I did some DUMB things in my youth. Not nude photos, though.

The closest I came to that was on our honeymoon. DH wanted to take a nude photo of me, and I just couldn't. So I grabbed a couple of leis we got at luau and placed them strategically. You can tell I'm topless, but nothing important can be seen. It's actually one of my favorite photos of myself, because I look so young and soooooo happy.

Those are always fun!
I tok pics of hubby once, unclothed with strategically placed doorway.. gosh we were so freakin young then.. we hid the pics away in our trunk. Can't thave the kids find them KWIM??

Guess what we're watching tonight? Here's a hint: It's a DVD.
Here's another hint: DS3 has DH's blinking cube game clipped to his pajama top again... :lmao:

Aloha, my little Chiquita Bananas!!!

So... we did laundry today, and took the kids to o drive through at the big M, and ordered pizza for dh and I after the kids went to bed.. Thin crust, nothing like pizza on a cracker!:lmao: Alex was a real turd AGAIN today:sad2: But he is sleeping now, so i am happy... Hmm, what else? Not much, I guess... Oh, and dont worry, there are No nudey pics of me floating around out there!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

i challage you to a duel!!!

buzz lightyear style! :P

And pixster wins! :thumbsup2 :rotfl:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Good job Pix!!! What does she win? Her own personal Millennium Eye?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

OMG!!! That was too funny!!

the one song stuck in my head is you are the music in me...

i like it though and i try to sing but sometimes, i cant go high enough :'(

Hyena singing along night! :P :P :P

Nice score! I will join forces with FunnyG and we'll take you down! :rotfl2:

hmmm only if DS14 can take my place, I sux!

Alex? Are you sleeping again?:confused3 :lmao:

Darn, I really want to eat something, but I know it's really bad to eat just before going to bed. And I need to go to bed in about half an hour...OK, earlier if I start falling asleep. :rolleyes1

I saw these cool hats in Vault 28 in DTD. They cost $85/Ea!! I wanted to see if they had them but they said they were mostly all out because of the VMA's.

This one is my favorite!

Those are cool, I think we looked at them last time we were in the store.. I must say tho.. they need to get better merchandise display arrangers.. Have you noticed the cute and out of ordinary stuff is on the highest shelf in the case while the boring bling stuff that you can get at Claire's or any old mall store is front and center? Makes it really hard for short people to look at the cute watches .. tippy tippy toes to see it... grrr!

DS7 hadn't done ANY homework since starting school, and I've been telling him every afternoon, "You need to do your reading. Do you have any other homework?"

Last week I saw that he had a special project that is due tomorrow. He hadn't done it, so I told him this afternoon, "OK, today you need to read, you need to practice your spelling words, you need to do any math homework she gave you today, and you MUST do your project."

He threw a hissy, said I was supposed to print pictures for him. I stopped him in his tracks and said, "Whose homework is this? Right, it's yours. And did you tell me you wanted me to print photos? No? Oh, so whose fault is it that they're not printed yet? Yours? Oh, OK then, because it sounded like you were blaming me." :sad2:

We got home and practiced his spelling words: I read them off and he spelled them all correctly. Wow, that was quick! So much for practicing every night! :rotfl:

No math, so onward to the project. We reviewed the fun stuff we did over the summer, then he had to pick an object reminding him of a special person, another one reminding him of a special place, and a third reminding him of a special activity. So he chose a photo of his birthday party as his special activity, the baseball field as a special place (his first summer playing on a baseball team), and a goofy photo of DH with a lit fireworks sparkler tucked into his cap for his favorite person. Kinda cute. :goodvibes

Then on to reading. He asked if he could read the next Harry Potter book. I was trying to talk with DH by then and he kept interrupting, so I said, "Sure, go read the first chapter." And good grief, he DID!

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: He is such a good reader!! I was that way when I was his age, all about reading!!:thumbsup2 Of course, i have been sitting here on the same book for about a week, and I am only halfway through it.. Sounds like a fun project!!!:thumbsup2

Hey, i have been meaning to ask you, how is his school about letting him out for a week for vaca? When do you usually tell the teacher?

My little sister has it lucky! She just started middle school but she doesn't have a lot of homework! I saw her first homework assignment was to draw and color a postcard and it had to be addressed to her teacher. She had to write what she did during the summer.

I went to private school and they gave us CRAP LOADS of homework!! It was awful and my older sister and I went to the same school. Sometimes my parents would get mad at us because we were awake at 2am finishing up term papers

I really don't like N's social studies/language arts teacher.. way too much homework!! Spelling sheet, language sheet, make up a fill in the blank worksheet using spelling words (means double the amt of sentences to write), study sentence structure notes for 20 minutes, do a writing assgnmt on a reading, read 20 minutes daily and write a summary in log. PLUS he had math homework. 6th grade work?? sounds like college classes!

I love the big figs, they sell them online too, sometimes they have a good deal on them. Once our finances are better we hope to invest in big figs to decorate our home... all the more reason to buy a house! Need room for those bad boys! HA!

You can always have them shipped to your home!

I noticed that too! The Mickey was high on a shelf in front of the store. I always feel like I'm trapped when I'm in that store. It's just too small and not enough room to walk around....especially when people are looking at certain items and it's hard to get around them sometimes.

You're right about the cheap accessories.....they probably cost a fortune there but look like something you can get for $1. They do need better merchandise and I wish they would lower the prices a bit. :faint:

LADIES!!!! ALBORT!!!!

I'm super excited today because it's Wednesday and tomorrow I can start making my dinner reservations for Disneyland!!     Woot!!!

Good morning, hyenas!
Overcast, but rumor has it there will be clear skies by noon and a high of 75F!

DS7 off to school, DS3 squirming in my lap, so just a quick hello this morning before we get going on errands. Hope you all have a good day! :)

Yay, Christina!!! :woohoo:

Sorry to hear about the pulled muscle. We just tried out the wii bowling. DH was so pleased with it until he had me try it out, and I got strike after strike. And when DS3 tried it, he got like 125! :rotfl2:

I would guess that Goofy's is a safe bet: Plenty of characters, and a lively 'show' that gets the kids up and dancing with the characters. I think it's the most popular character meal.

Lilo & Stitch is a lot of fun, too. Also involves a little 'show' and playing a musical chairs type game with the kids. Typically only 5 characters.

We're doing Minnie & Friends this time around, in hopes that DS3 gets to see the Pooh characters there. He would LOVE that!

If you have girls in the party (and good-natured boys) you might consider Ariels (Princess meal). For a quiet, more sedate meal, I'd suggest Chip & Dale's (Storyteller's Cafe.)

We're going to do Storytellers for the first time this trip, too, but I don't expect the boys will enjoy it as much as the livelier meals, and I think typically there are only 4 animal characters there. :)

Poor Christina  I know how you feel. The first time I played the Wii I was soooo sore!! My dad and my siblings played too and they were sore also!! :rotfl: Especially from bowling! ;)

When you play baseball you don't have to throw real hard. I thought that you had to but now I just flick the wii-mote and it works that way too.

I haven't played my Wii in a long time. I do miss playing Wario Smooth Moves. That game is funny! :teeth:

I remember hearding that when the Wii first came out this one lady played bowling. Well I guess her strap on the wii mote wasn't tight enough and when she threw her arm forward, the wii-mote flew out of her hand and broke her TV screen! :rotfl: I think she sued Nintendo too, which is so dumb! :sad2:

Another person lifted their arm too high and the strap got caught on their ceiling fan. It sounds awful but it's kinda funny envisioning that!

Pizza Port, excellent choice Albort! Kid friendly pasta and pizza, salads for the parents or yummy Alfredo. You can buy a whole pizza too. (Pricier than Domino's)

Plaza Inn is nice, HUGE portions. We buy two plates of the chicken meal and share it between the four of us ( 2 adults, 11, and 14 yr old boys) .. and feel overly stuffed at the end. It's 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green/yellow beans, and a biscuit $12.99. Served on platters! Refills for pop (soda) are free. The only sucky part is seating can be a challenge inside, though we have lucked out and snagged an inside table the last 4 times. Check the left side, most people go to the right.

White Water Snacks inside the Grand Californian is nice, easy exit from DCA (yes, you can go back into the park that way, ignore the signs which say hotel guests only). Made fresh and big portions, adults will be satisfied with child portion meals. Small kids can easily share the chicken fingers meal- BIG pieces and tons of fries. They also have premade salads, desserts, sandwhiches, and fresh fruit trays. Prices a bit less than in the parks, and better tasting too.. DCA has crappy dining options IMO.
It's very peaceful in the outdoor seating area.
If you're really quiet, one of the Disney cats might come up to your table for a treat. (She doesn't like fries, give her hamburger or chicken and she will even let you pet her for a minute. I have had the same white/orange/brown long hair tabby visit me on two trips.. a year apart!)

IHOP on Harbor has kids eat free, but heard they have horrible service... sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

McDonald's on Harbor, there is a 10% off coupon here. Print a bunch!
http://www.anaheimoc.org/Articles/Archive/Webpage10153.asp
Maybe buy those treat coupon books? Free fries, free drink, ice cream, etc.. I had really old ones from 2002, gift certificates don't expire in California. If you're walking back and forth to the hotel, it's easy to pop in and have a treat on the way..... mmmm ice cream cones!
They do have the dollar menu at that location, it's just hiding behind a freezer.

GRRRR
Hubby found out last night that his dialysis center will be stopping fourth shift treatments in 6 months. They have a new center opening up and won't need the late shift anymore.

The 3rd shift starts too soon, hubby will be still teaching his last hour at that time. Hubby said he needs a "3 1/2 shift"

His doc told him the insurance we picked won't cover home treatment (Kaiser).
But docs don't always know insurance, have to wait and see what happens ,keep in contact with the center's social worker.

His other option is peritoneal dialysis. Tried it once before, he developed a horrible inguinal hernia .... things were kinda drooping down below! :scared1:

Got the hernia fixed and developed peritonitis a week after discharge.. that was scary, painful experience with a long stay in hospital. Surgery and IV antibiotics.

soooooooo, I'm kinda peeved and scared about how it will all play out.

Technically his employer must make accomadations for disability, he could do the first shift dialysis. He has prep first hour so they wouldn't need a sub, but he likely wouldn't be able to have a homeroom. And according to contract , teacher's are to work X amt of hours per day.. hmmmmm

Uck! Isn't she like 12??? (Sorry, dizzy! I mean really 12! You do look older than Miley Cyrus!)

That sucks - hopefully in the six months you guys will be able to figure something out -

Good Morning Hyena's!!!

Figured I would check in!!! I have been working a ton lately at DH's store (I really like the extra income, the break from the kids, and DH likes the break from work, and knowing that someone responsible is watching his store) I actually ended up working 34 hours last week - and will probably continue to pick up hours (the VP was there last night, and usually if you show up to a store 30 minutes before closing, it can be pretty scary - but it wasn't, so all is good :thumbsup2 ) Besides that, I have known the VP and the others for a long time - both as DH's wife and as the accountant for the company.

DH is going to talk to the VP today about our continued living situation - so hopefully I will know later if they are going to be willing to keep helping us out - and where exactly we should live in two weeks  I am pretty stressed and scared about what we are going to do - but I just hope it will all work out ok. Once we figure that out we will probably discuss the October trip, and whether it is going to happen. I know DH really wants to go to the bird show - so that definitely works to my benefit!!!

GOOD MORNING HIP, HAPPENIN' HYENAS!! I'M BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only have a few minutes to say hello! Had an awesome time and WDW and raised $1,625 for breast cancer reasearch.:woohoo: But my desk is piled high with work and I need to try & get all of it done, esp. the bills paid because boss is in town this week to sign checks.

Highlight of the trip: I got a Dream Fastpass at Epcot!!! (Bad news, didn't need it because the lines were so short). Also ate & drank my way around the world at Epcot. End result, drunk by the time I made it to Morocco!Thought I was going to have to get a wheelchair and be rolled out of there!:rotfl2:

Lowlight of the trip: Coming down at water slide at Typhoon Lagoon there was one of those Gecko lizards that I hate so much in the middle of the slide and I went right over him on my butt! Needless to say I'm sure I killed him, but having an icky lizard headed straight for your "unmentionable area" while going 40 MPH is quite upsetting!:rotfl: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I was freaking out and screaming on the last 1/3 of the slide. Not a pretty sight!:scared:

Have to take my home computer to my neighbor to get the update internet software, so might not be able to talk for a couple of nights.

Hope everyone has an AWESOME DAY! By the way, Florida is HOT this time of year!
