Unsafe ride at Seaworld Orlando evacuated today

DH and I rent scooters. He is disabled; I'm just old. Anyway, we aren't allowed to be on Thunder Mtn together just in case the fire dept has to evacuate us -- they don't want to deal with more than one scooter person at a time.

Whenever we go on Space ship earth, they always ask DH is he could walk down several flights of stairs. (he uses a wheelchair/scooter at disney). He always says yes, but he doesn't say it may take him an hour or two. Now that would be an adventure! Ride would probably be back up again before we got down. LOL

My Mom has a scooter too. They always ask if she can do the stairs and she says yes, but it will be slow. And I mean very slow. And they always say - great, no problem.

We got stuck on Grizzly River run with a boatload (literally) of jr. high kids celebrating the end of school. They were fairly rowdy and DH and I felt responsible for keeping them from scrambling out and down the rocks while waiting for cast members to get to us. Not fun and we didn’t even get a ride in a cherry-picker or a FP for our trouble.

Yes but seeing Ursla's head pop off was pretty traumatic...

Even shutting down for some non-standard issue, like a bolt.

Go out to your car and remove a screw that is holding your glovebox door on. Is your car now unsafe to drive?

I imagine that happens a lot with theme/amusement parks. Find something that has nothing to do with safety wrong, but you must shut down and evacuate the ride for liability reasons. Not saying that is what goes on for those ready to attack that I'm wrong, but it's just something to think about.

I was stuck in the middle of Test Track with my daughter. They didn't come remove us, but they shut down the ride and evacuated the queue. Inside, we moved 10 feet then sat for 10 minutes. Moved 10 feet and sat for 10 minutes. Took us about an hour to get out the other side.



Also saw an issue with the Magnum 2000 at Cedar Point when it was new. We waited an hour in line, and an extra hour for the front seat. Got to talking to the people around us also waiting extra for the front seat. When we got off, one of the trains of people were stuck at the top of the hill and they had to "rescue" them. They were stuck up there a good hour or so and had to walk down that skinny set of steps along side the rails.

Later we saw the people that were behind us in that line. They were the ones stuck up there hanging over in the front seat. We missed that by 1 train car.

The worst ride breakdown I’ve ever heard about was It’s A Small World. The boat got stuck for about 15 minutes while those cutesy dolls became creepy singing the theme song over and over and over.

DD (40-ish) refuses to ride It's a Small World because of the repetition (even when the ride isn't broken down.) gma and gpa make sure the kids go without mom.

I have been going to WDW multiple times per year since they opened and I have yet to be evacuated from a ride. Stopped? Yes, I have sat in a ride vehicle 20-30 minutes many times, but never evacuated. I have always wondered how I personally would evacuate in either HM or SSE during the parts where the car is moving downhill backwards, but so far nothing. The longest I have been stranded was 30 minutes in SSE, right by the burning of Rome smell.

I've seen footage of various Disney rides pause due to problems. This isn't all bad. In The Great Movie Ride, the gangster cast member had to improvise during the setback. Or in other rides, the lights go on and you get to see some of the inner-workings of the ride.

I'd be more worried to be stuck on the teacups and the person next to you has a sudden evacuation.

I was evacuated from the top of Tower of Terror once, just before it moves forward into the drop chamber. Lights came on and we were unloaded and taken down an elevator. Option given to get on another ar or free FP (I got back on!)

Last time we was at Seaworld my husband said he didn’t feel safe on the rides, I dismissed this and said to him something along the lines of of course they are safe or they wouldn’t be allowed to run the rides. And then this morning when we are at the park we see one of the rides (the ride called “mako”) being evacuated!! Surely that’s not normal for it to be evacuated?

Don't let him near Velocicoaster at Universal then! Lots of air time.

There is a staircase right along the side of the track of SSE. I've had to walk down them once. We had pretty much just started the ride too.

I have seen the stairs, but my concern is being in a reclined, nearly horizontal position and trying to stand up in the tilted vehicle to step out onto the stairs. There isn’t much to pull yourself up by and the front of the vehicle would also be in the way. I would probably just ask to be left alone and take a nap, since I was already lying down.

We got stuck on Incredicoaster for over 50 minutes in the pouring rain. If you aren't familiar, that ride is an over the shoulder harness style. The rain had shorted something out and the mechanics couldn't figure out how to unlock us. I was definitely getting claustrophobic and panicky by the end.

It was 830 pm when we got off and we were soaked to the bone. We got offered 3 FP for a park that was closing in 90 minutes and was a ghost town anyway because of the rain.

It doesn't rain often in Cali but when it does it does definitely don't ride the outdoor rides!

Me to, but the scariest would be the escalators. What if you're halfway up and it breaks down. You'd have to stand in one place until they can rescue you.

We made it to the stormtroopers on ROTR. Then we waited for 30
Minutes in front of the one that moves so it feels like he’s looking at you. We had dinner reservations so we were taken out an emergency exit (not on the ride though)

I've been lucky and never had that happen, but it must be a nightmare.
