Pop Daddy - this is gonna be a long post dear...you've been warned. ;)

I was reading this thread in the Theme Parks board about the worst things people have witnessed in the parks. There was a lot of the usual: stroller runner overs, wheelchair disrespecters, line cutters, public piddlers, scantily clad no fashion sensers etc.

But there were also a few that really bugged me , such as a lady who pushed and shoved her way into a row at B&TB and fell on someone and then began shouting racial slurs at her and otherwise behaving like a loon, or the guy who berated and pushed a CM on the Pooh Ride and esp. the idiot who claimed she was a CM and spent an entire evening parade harrassing a family with racial slurs and other nonsense and eventually physically assaulted people. Then there was the oh so classy lady who took out a spatula and beat her small child with it.

None of these people were removed from the parks and IMO, they should have been shown the door and not refunded. In at least TWO of these cases, I truly feel that if the incidents occurred as the posters say, that not only should these people been booted, but assault charges should have been filed.

What about the people who walk around with really offensive shirts on? Should Disney be allowed to ask people to turn their shirts inside out if the choose to wear an R rated shirt to a PG rated theme park? IMO, they should. If you want to wear some classless shirt with Bleep You written all over it, than that is your right but not to wear it to a theme park full of small children. Same goes for graphics of naked people etc. on shirts.

How about the people who think it's okay to spit on other people, or walk around naked (such as the guy who was walking around a food court in the hotel with his, as the poster put it, winkie flapping in the wind through his unzipped pants). I mean can't spitting on people put them at risk for any communicable diseases you may have? Isn't walking around with your private parts exposed illegal???

IMO, these types of behaviors are being allowed to slide more and more it seems, and I personally think Walt Disney would have wanted these people sent on their way and not interupting the family atmosphere of his dream parks. Not only that but it serves as an example that this kind of trashy behavior is not accepted by the general public.

There was also a post about a moron who complained about prices of meals at a resteraunt and got his meal for free, while everyone else in the place paid full price! Should this have been allowed?? Isn't this kind of taking customer service TOO far??

So what I'm wondering is what do you think SHOULD constitute an offense worth kicking someone out without refund?

In my world, if I ran WDW the following would get ADULTS kicked out :

*Any intentional physical assault on another guest or CM, whether they are related to you or not. IMO, if you want to beat your child/spouse/parent I can't do much, but I can kick your pathetic butt off my property so you don't do this in full view of others.

*Anyone who spits on a non related guest or CM (siblings spit on each other sometimes, I understand this)

*Anyone who uses a racial slur towards or continuously berates another guest or CM. They'd get one warning to knock it off.

*Refusal to turn inside out shirts with overtly sexual pictures or sayings or swear words. Again, that's your right to wear it, but not on my property.

Also

*Complaints about the cost of food or goods would not be met with free meals, but with suggestions as to where you might consider dining that costs less

*Line cutters (not family members catching up but OBVIOUS cutters) would be pushed back to the end of the line.

What do you all think?

I agree with you, but Disney is probably afraid of litigation and won't take action unless it is an extreme case. If I see a lunatic I walk the other way, it's not worth getting upset over on my vacation. I did yell at a man once for throwing his butt on the sidewalk in Future World, to me that should get you ejected from the Parks!

Same here.

While I'd love nothing more than to see some idiot get the boot, Disney can't be bothered with some personal injury attorney flapping his mouth about his client's denied civil rights. Or big, bad corporate Disney repremanding some "poor, innocent baby", who was simply slobbering as babies do.

I do liability claims for a living, and I know the 'ins and outs' of this nonsense, and believe me, Disney will not win if they give some moron the boot.

I've been reading that thread as well and if all those stories are on the up and up many of those people s/h been dealt with by Disney. Unfortunately it doesn't sound like many of these situations were brought to anyone's attention (the winky story in particular comes to mind :rotfl:). So the combination of Disney not wanting to rock the boat and guests not wanting to rock the boat means some people know they can act just about any way they choose and get away with it.

I like to think that I wouldn't let gravely inappropriate behavior continue w/o trying to do something about it even if I am on vacation. I usually have a very impressionable mind right by my side and she doesn't miss a thing.

BTW, EsmeraldaX I saw your post on the thread asking what was wrong with the language another poster used. I went through the entire thread looking for the original post. I guess "shut up" is more than some people can handle  . These days that barely registers with me unless it's coming out of DD's mouth.

And here I thought I was being a prude for not wanting to have to see people walking around in Bleep You shirts or my favorite, the 10 year old boy I saw on last trip wearing a shirt that said I heart S-ts (derogatory word for women). He was with his dad who was wearing a t-shirt with a nude woman in a sexy pose on it and his mom who I felt really sad for.

But I can even handle shut up.

I think it's sad that this kind of behavior has become accepted and that places like Disney are so afraid of a legal system to panders to morons that they can't even take a stand against it.

We went to Dollywood several years ago. There is a sign posted at the entrance that offensive language or pictures on shirts will not be tolerated. The wearer will be asked to change shirts or not be allowed to enter the park. I think this is a great idea. Let people know before they enter that there may be a problem. I agree that if someone wants to wear a shirt with offensive language or pictures, that is their right, but I also see the rights of a business owner, which Disney is, to be able to restrict such behavior in their parks which are mostly visited by families.

We went to WDW almost two weeks ago. We were at MK Sunday night waiting in line to watch Mickey's PhilharMagic when we noticed, ahead of us, a teenage girl go after a teenage boy, she punched him and kicked him. The father had to intervene and stop them. After the show was over and we walked out of the theater, DH asked me, "Did you see that?" I turned around and it was the same father that had separated the siblings, he was now going after the son and hit him across the face really hard. The boy ran away from him with the father chasing after him, everyone was standing there watching in disbelief. I don't know if someone said something to them, but we didn't.

My parents work 2 days a week at dollywood. That rule is indeed there. My parents wish that there were people employed there that enforced the rule. It is not their favorite thing to have to confront someone with or approach a parent with. I am sure many of the employees just look the other way hoping someone else will enforce the rule.

It is amazing the things my mom esp. has witnessed at her job in the park.

Excellent list, but it's really a shame that something like this even needs to be posted. Unfortunately, common sense is not necessarily common.

I was at MGM a week ago and decided to ride the Tower of Terror..which is my absolute favorite ride in WDW...we got on the elevator with these really annoying people...they were cursing and swearing like no end. Their were about 4 children on the elevator with us...mind you I'm 13 and care about children hearing language like that...I've only used a swear word twice and that was when I was pretty angry...but these kids were about 4 and 5...their mother turned around and that made them quiet for about 30 more seconds...when the ride was over I couldn't wait to get out...

WDW should take these things a little more serious. They have a reputation to live up to. They should print rules out on the back of passes or something & when passes are purchased they should be reminded to read them. If they break the rules - out you go, the person(s) being kicked out can't say anything because the rules would be clearly stated.

I think so too.

I guess I just have a hard time understanding why a company cannot enforce common sense rules without having to fear lawsuits. I think it's sad.

I don't know which thread this is your talking about, but are people doing these things, especially spitting, hitting and exposing themselves and no one is doing anything about it like reporting it? Or are people reporting it and then nothing is being done about it?

As far as the man exposing himself, I would have said something right there and then to him. Strangely it might have been a mistake, he might have not been wearing undies and he might not have known he was exposing himself, but that is also a tactic that sick pedophiles use to get their kicks.     Did no one confront that man? I don't get embarrassed for myself telling someone to XYZ, but I do get embarrassed for others if they are walking around not knowing, I'd rather tell them and spare them the embarrassment. Then again, it could have been a sick, disgusting human being  and if I saw him do it again after saying something to him, I would have had no problems calling the cops, or at the very least, security at the hotel.

The t-shirt thing, I would make them turn them around. I don't see anything wrong with that. Free speach and all, there are appropriate places and times for everything.

That sign at Dollywood is a great idea....warn the customers prior to entering that poor behavior or appearance will not be tolerated. That way, Disney has a bona fide, legitimate reason for asking someone to leave.

I agree that the rules should be printed on the back for the CMs to refer guests to. When I was in MGM last year I was heading out of the park at mid day to go back to our room at the BCV. Some people were getting their hands stamped to return later but people were in a line waiting to go through the exit gate. My 2 friends and my husband had gone through before me and I was just about to walk through the gate (I was directly in line behind my husband) when suddenly a hand shot from no where and punched me in the nose!! I guess this boy (looked about 14) was in a hurry to get his hand stamped to go somewhere else. I think I simple sorry would have been nice though. The CM on the gate said nothing, stamped their hand and let them through before me!!
I guess this rudeness doesn't just apply to Disney though. I went to DLP at Easter and we decided to go to Paris for the day. We were in the Louvre art gallery and there was a group of people around the Venus de Milo statue taking pictures. I waited for people to move so I could go to the front to take a picture. I was just about to take the photo when a Japanease man put his hands round my waist, picked me up and moved me out of his way!! If he had waited 10 more seconds I would have taken the photo and moved. My male friend who was stood behind me at the time couldn't believe it and made a comment about it being rude to man handle women. I guess the guy couldn't understand him though!!

For people just being offensive, Disney should be able to handle it in a calm manner, but for people being abusive, committing assault (hitting, spitting, racial slurs), exposing themselves, I would call the police first, then let a CM know they were coming, and who they were coming for.

Disney does not have the power to make criminal arrests, I don't think, and I'm certain that the CM's, as well meaning as they may be, have probably been instructed not to confront people that may escalate into a bigger problem. That's security's job, but even they will be limited in what they may do as park security, not a law enforcement official.

I think the best they can do is try and escort a guest either out of the park or a backstage area to wait for police if they were commiting an arrestable offense.

If you witness a crime; and assualt, indecent exposure, child abuse are crimes, even if it's in Disney World, I think people have an obligation to report it to the real authorities, rather than pass the buck to a theme park operator who's best interest is served by pretending there is no problem.

How about the people who think it's okay to spit on other people, or walk around naked (such as the guy who was walking around a food court in the hotel with his, as the poster put it, winkie flapping in the wind through his unzipped pants).

If I saw Mr Winkie flapping around my resort I'd have either made some nasty comments about cold weather or lack of size loud enough for him to hear or told a CM to call the police. While it's true a CM shouldnt necessarily have to deal with the offender they could at least call security or the police themselves instead of turning a blindeye.

I think, if I was reading the other thread correctly, that people did report it to CMs but that nothing was done and the offenders were allowed to go back about their day.

The "winkie flapping" reminds me of the "Friends" episode a few years ago & Phobe's boyfriend whose "mouse was out of the house".
