Hey everyone, this will be our 1st trip to the World during the busier times (June 7-11). I have been planning like a madwoman, and would like to know if any of you pro's out there have ever used the UG touring plans and stuck to them. Are they that helpful, or are they geared more for the inexperienced "world" travelers.
Thanks in advance, Suzie

we did it a few years ago and it really does work, BUT remember to be flexable. I love the book and find the advise to be great, but you do need to be flexable if the plans change. When we used it we did most of the major rides before noon, but we were tired by lunch time!!!

For just about anyone and has several different touring plans depending on what your party would like to see and do.Some involve some extra walking to follow remember if you get to a step in touring plan and if there is a bottleneck just skip to next step in touring plans.Have a wonderful vacation::yes:: :goodvibes :wave2:

I just did a search of the boards for that very topic! Everything I read was people singing the praises of the touring plans and the book in general. I'll definitely be using the plans on my first trip! :sunny:

... the best advice I can give is use them but as other's have said, be flexible. If you use the plans you will see all the attractions you want and, literally, spend hours less in line.

Which plan were you considering?
Did you see the part in the book about Custom Plans?
For $12 they will do a Special Plan, just for you based on your interests!

HINT - If you wish to be a True Type A Theme Park Commando take the plan out of the book and have it Laminated @ staples/Office Max! Other guests will turn GREEN with envy!! LOL

I love the laminating idea. There are times on Kali River Rapids, Splash Mountain, and during thunderstorms that lamination would really help.

Kitkatsmom, the Unofficial Guide's touring plans are step-by-step itineraries that tell you how to see the most popular rides in each park while minimizing the time spent in line. On a busy day in the Magic Kingdom, you can save up to five hours of waiting in line. Developed by a team of experts from industry and academia, they're widely regarded as the best theme park touring advice available.

As CanadaPT says, it helps to have a plan and to be flexible. The Unofficial Guide discusses this point extensively while describing the touring plan strategy. It's a nice read.

Suzieqinga, if you have specific questions about the touring plans, feel free to drop me a line: testa@ncat.edu.

Sincerely,

Len Testa

Q. - Based on your field research - Shoud I carry the 1/2 liter water bottle or the .75 liter bottle.

Obvious factors would be Added weight Vs. Extended range...

Please compare and contrast the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Thanks!

The UG plans are the best! We have done them so many times that I practically have them memorized! I love it when a new attraction happens and I just have to look in the new UG to see where to fit it in! LOVE THE UNOFFICIAL GUIDE!!!

Angie

Thanks elemusing!

OLT2004, it depends on how you're carrying it around. Every park has water fountains within reach, so I like to carry the smaller bottle. It means more frequent fill-ups, but it's less to carry around. And it's less expensive.

Hope this helps!

be careful with filling up the water bottles in the water fountains. We became very sick last year.Everyone in our group that refill their water bottles from the water fountains got sick.

The touring plans are at the back of the Unofficial Guide to WDW. They are one of the main topics of the book. You can't find better information on rides and attractions anywhere.

There is also a website that will create custom touring plans for you. I am sure someone can point you to it. I would say that these custom touring plans are best as an addition to the book, I would not buy them instead of the book.

The touring plans work and if it is a busy time of year they are all the more important. I had been several times to WDW and too many times to count to DL when I first found them, and I found a ton of useful information. A few things I already knew, but many of the things I learned would have taken multiple lifetimes to figure out on my own!
