UnOfficial March 2012 Trip Planners Tread-DIS Meet 3/8 Info Pg 1

All this talk about Biergarten, really makes me want to try it - after all, we will be in Epcot 2 days... :surfweb:

Ok, seriously, I am contimplating running to the WDW website to see if there is any way of switching around some ADRs to make it work... We have never had an ADR in WS. :confused3

Thanks guys... :worship:

Huzzah! Another person there at the same time as me! :woohoo: Are you going to do a PTR?

I don't think I will be this time. I did for our last trip and it was fun though. We're only going to have 2 ADRs, I already have Le Cellier lunch and I'm trying hard for one at 'Ohana for dinner. I don't know what else I'd put in a PTR. I think I will do one for our Fall trip though. There will be many more details to that one.

We're also @ Pop (Feb 29 - Mar 9).....maybe we'll run into each other

That would be great!

I don't blame you at all for not wanting to stray too far from your resort.

I've heard wonderful things about GG, haven't heard any valid complaints yet. But I'm open minded anyway. I heard nothing but horrible things about Tony's and it was one of our better meals in May. :confused3 We'd go back.

We had Biergarten in May for the first time.... zomg it was YUM! The kids even enjoyed the music and food! There was one dish, and not sure what it was (a beet or red cabbage dish perhaps), and I had thirds of it. (It made it on my dessert plate, and I finished off the DS's portion since he's a picky eater... I did not go to the bar three times for myself. :lmao:)

I wished we could have gotten more TS restaurants, as I'd love to go back to Biergarten and make it a must do. Then again ... we are skipping our must do this trip (WGP).

DH is just cranky in general at WDW. He's not fun to go with ... but I love him and he loves us (and takes us because he loves us so much). Epcot is probably his favorite park (closely tied with DHS) ... he loves WSC. But in May, I had to put my foot down and give him "what for" at Epcot. He was ruining everyone's fun. Granted, we met up with some locals, and he straightened out the rest of the day ... but ugh, it was a rough morning.

I wrote about it here:

And here:

:sad2:
:lmao::lmao: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We are trying Tony's for the first time this trip too. DH loves Italian plus his pallet is not very discriminating, all places have both good and bad reviews but the photos I have seen of the food at Tony's look good to me , glad to hear you liked it. I have heard great things about WGP but have never tried it recently, back when they first built DTD/Pleasure Is. back in the 90's they had a small CS pizza only I think and for CS it was ok pizza. We opted for the DxDP first time ever using a DP so doing a lot of TS this trip.
DH never ruins everyones trip just mine, he always has one or more days where he poopers out before me I am more the crack of dawn til close the park type, him not so much. Last trip I did miss MK but that was a combination of DH needing a rest on arrival day and then we were suppose to go to MK our last night but Ddil who we went with decided she did not want to go there so we spent our last night in DTD. This is DH and my first trip alone anywhere ever, I already warned him if he acts up I might push him off the balcony :rotfl:

I highly recommend the Biergarten, if paying OOP the lunch is around $10 less , at dinner I think there is only an additional two items in the buffet. Tables seat 8? I think so you will be seated with another party or parties but we enjoyed it we met two couples last time and chatted a bit, it was all good.

I'm so annoyed, I just had to share this somewhere with people who'd understand. I cannot find my Disney binder! I'm not sure were I put it away, I guess. :headache:

That is so frustrating, I lose things all the time around the house. Good Luck in finding it

Well, you can detail what you're doing, on what days, and roughly when and where. :thumbsup2

If you decide to do one, let us know! I'd follow along. :goodvibes

Mmmmmm! We'd go back to Tony's this year, but I really wanted to try CP and 1900 PF for our MK days.

WGP was something we've had every year ... so I'm a bit worried about NOT going. And we're only not going because we have no plans to visit DTD in March -- otherwise, we'd totally go to WGP. And it's possible that this may change ... If we end up with some extra funds for an OOP meal, it's very possible we'll hit WGP on our AK day (if we don't swim or something).

I had one of the BEST meals ever there last year ... and to be honest, I was worried, since they had changed their menu. I'd show food pics ... but all I have are pics of empty plates ... because the food arrived and I lost control. :sad2:

If you push him off a balcony, give us all a call first so we can come observe (and I can show my DH possible consequences if he's a cranky-pants). :lmao:

Tables seat 8. We were with two other families in May. The place was almost vacant, so they still seat communal, regardless of how busy/empty they are.

I tried to chat with the families, but they were all a bit ... :snooty: So... :confused3 But it was still YUMMY food, good music and show, and you won't leave hungry!!!

I'm so annoyed, I just had to share this somewhere with people who'd understand. I cannot find my Disney binder! I'm not sure were I put it away, I guess. :headache:

Oh noes! :sad1: I hope it turns up!!

Lidian - Are all those pics from Tony's? They look Delicious. Yum

The couples we sat with were both older like DH & I , both of the men were ex Navy same as DH, the couple from Maine were very friendly and it was the wifes Birthday. The other couple son and dil were with them but did not talk. Overall it was a good expierence I hope in March we get good table mates again.

I will be sure to call you before I give DH the big push :rotfl:

I tweeked my ADRs a bit yesterday, same places just time tweeking, I am thinking of not bothering looking for 'Ohana I think my list is good.

I booked HollyWood and Vine for Breakfast, no reason other than early entry into DHS. I know I have seen several reviews saying the breakfast buffet is good but now that I have been looking for them can not locate them :headache:
Has anyone done the breakfast buffet there? I am wondering if I should change it, years ago we went to a Aladdin's breakfast buffet at DHS and it was great we went 2 times maybe 3 but I don't recall if it was at H&V:confused3

Yup, those were all pics of Tony's! I have some 2010 WGP pics I can post ... just not May ones, or ones of the best dish I ever ate there. Well, unless you want to see how it looks with an empty plate... :confused3 :lmao:

We still had a good experience, but we ignored the other two families after they made it apparent they didn't want to have anything to do with a family with kids. We weren't going to let them ruin our meal. It wasn't like we were being forced to be social -- just all sitting at the same communal table.

I'll be waiting for your call. :rolleyes1 :lmao:

I've never done breakfast ANYwhere at WDW.... so our Kona one will be a whole new experience. We're not really breakfast people ... more of a poptart and cereal snack before our day. I've not heard anything horrible about H&V breakfast. I know in 2009 we had a lunch schedule there (but due to my sun poisoning, I didn't make it -- but everyone else did). I recall everyone saying it was "okay" ... nothing memorable, nothing great. It wasn't bad by any means, but DH has requested us to exhaust all other options before going back. He said he would go back ... but would prefer other things. I imagine the food would be the same foods served at other breakfast buffets. It would make sense to have it the same, anyway...

We did H&V breakfast. It was great for us. We did it before rope drop, and the place was not crowded at all. The buffet very similar to Chef Mickey's IMO. But you get more character time because it's not as packed...My DS I think he was 8, accidentally dropped the syrup caraffe on the floor and it broke. He was in tears, and closed down one side of the buffet because of the sticky mess. I felt so bad for him....my older DS (16 or 17 at the time) refused to help him and he didn't know to use a bowl and tried to get the syrup right on his plate. Poor baby. The CMs and characters really cheered him up. And the manager brought him "pixie dust". While we ate, my oldest DS got our TSM FP too. I asked the waitress if that was OK, and she said, go for it! It was a laid back BF, other than the syrup mishap, I say keep it! :thumbsup2

hey pas -

obviously we are not going for the characters but I do like to mix up where we eat, DH would be fine heading over to Cap'ts Grill everyday in fact when we stayed at YC I think we ate there about 5 times for breakfast during a 10 day trip. Thanks for the input. Your poor DS, he must have wanted to shrink into the woodwork. My two DS were 10 years apart in age and I coujld see my eldest not helping his lil bro either.

Wow, busy weekend on this thread! :thumbsup2 Lidian, thanks for the pics of Tony's! We are trying it for the first time this trip also. We had ADR's for it last time we went, but ended up canceling the day of and opted for CS at Casey's instead...go figure! :confused3 Anywho, we have it booked for 7:30pm this time in hopes of getting a porch table to watch the MSEP while we dine. :wizard:

It's stories like this that make me love WDW even more! :cloud9:

No problem! :thumbsup2 Like I said, we'd go back in a heartbeat! :goodvibes I think it would be awesome to have a view to see MSEP while dining!! I'm an early eater ... so I could never wait so late for dinner! :scared1: When something as early as 6pm is all that's available, I get a little antsy .... I like to eat around 5:30. :lmao:

Epcot - Future World

House of Innoventions at Epcot’s Innoventions East is now closed, presumably due to the recent announcement that Green Builder Media will be transitioning it into what will be known as the ‘VISION House.’ No specific date has been provided for the re-opening other than an expected time frame of May, 2012.

DHS

The Studio Backlot Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now slated to close on February 13, 2012 and re-open on March 11.

MK

The Ice Cream Parlor at Magic Kingdom, scheduled to close on January 9, 2012, is not scheduled to re-open until March 28.

I have to say I was upset when I read about the Back Lot Tour being down while I am at WDW. :sad2:

I hope this isn't actually accurate. I've only seen it posted on a (reliable) website, but not an official one. Maybe it's wrong, or the dates are wrong or something. You can't take away my Backlot Tour!

Yep, me too! I was upset over Innoventions ... but Backlot makes me want to reschedule my trip!

ACK! Thanks for the FYI... Really bummed about BLT - it's something we've never done and it was on our must do list. Hopefully it opens earlier than scheduled - sometimes that happens. If I was given a choice though - I'd hope BTMRR opened first. :lovestruc

And, in case you didn't see it, because I've posted the info every where I go... :rolleyes1 DH purchased all of our flights as a Christmas gift yesterday - airfare dropped for our most wanted flights - and he jumped on the opportunity. :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

First Congrates on DH getting your flights!

I have to say I debated about posting this info when I read it but then given the fact that the official Disney.Com site tends to be the last updated for all information from hours to special events and reburbs etc I decided to post it.

My first reaction was "say it isn't so" I have not done the blt since late 90's our last trip we never made it there so this is a real bummer for me.

Interesting... I would be upset if the people sitting by us were snobby... I am a fun kind of gal, so they would probably get annoyed with us very quickly. :rotfl2:

We didn't mind. We just pretended they were sitting at OUR table and we were nice enough to not make them move. :lmao::rotfl2: And if we got on their nerves, who cares. I'm sure my kids whined and got loud ... but if they didn't want to be social, then so be it.

Oh... it's so tempting ... but we have dinner ADR for GG -- and I'm super excited. Maybe we could do lunch? :confused3 It would be OOP for us, but I'm sure we could swing it. We could just make one ADR for all of us or something?

Honestly ... I'd rather both be open. I can't believe you haven't done SBLT! I am still hoping it's a rumor and not true. No official word yet ... fingers crossed!

Josh of EasyWDW is also reporting the same information and he is usually pretty darn near 100% spot on about all things DisneyWorld. BTW(his site is not where I first saw about the closings)Just Say'in. :)

Of course this is nothing compared to my waiting 52 years to go to DL and then having the Railroad down for refurbishment.
