Okay, we are on the Wonder for 3 days and here are the new rates for the computer......the worst thing is Unlimited is gone!! Today is the first day for this. :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

You can now use your laptop and the Internet Cafe on the same package.

.75 per minute
50 minutes - $27.50
100 minutes - $40.00
250 minutes - $75.00

We asked at Guest Services and they said the same thing will happen on the Magic this weekend.

That STINKS!!!
Thanks for Sharing this info with us. I'm cruising in a few weeks and this will definately affect me.

That sucks! DH has to work on our 7 day cruise and I budgeted the cost of unlimited. Now I have no idea what its gonna cost us! $75 for only approximately 4 hours:scared1: I'd much rather pay for unlimited, especially if its a slow connection.

If DH has to work, won't company pay for his time online? My DH always bills his company for our internet time when we are on a cruise and he is doing business. Hey, it could be worse, sometimes my DH carries a satellite phone to do business.

Just my thoughts...

:surfweb:

Ugh, this is NOT good at all; we have 2 cruises planned this year. I run my own company, must be in touch every day and will have to work each evening for a few hours. I had put of going on cruises and finally bit the bullet because of the unlimited on DCL. :sad2:

I would think internet access is a acceptable business expense to the IRS, is it not?

Most companies will; however the usual cost for internet access is $9.95 to $19.95 for 24 hours of access at hotels and such; not big prices like this. And they pay that when the person is on a company business trip.

Your husband is very lucky they will pay his internet access when he is vacationing and working.

DH is self employed so while company technically pays, it still comes out of our pocket!:sad1: Sure you can right off expenses but its not like you get all that $$$ back!

DH is basically in the same boat as jemiaule! So this change really sucks!

Not a matter of luck. DH is pretty much working all the time so his company expects him to work vacation or not. If you are in a start-up, just because you are not physically there, you still have work to do. Just a fact of life.

He will communicate every day for at least a few hours no matter where we are in the world, vacation or not.

What a bummer!! At least DH gets it paid for by company credit card not out of our pocket.

Unbelievable! Well while the site was down today the internet info was updated. Although 250 minutes costs $75 on the Wonder, the SAME 250 minutes is $100 on the Magic. What a way to nickel and dime! How disappointing.

From the wesbiste:

Well in that case his company should definitely pay. When my employees go on vacation I want them to BE on vacation...not checking in with work.

No one is ever on a vacation in a start-up. Just goes with the territory.

Well shoot - if it is going to cost me $100 for 250 minutes I might as well bring my laptop and do the wireless access instead. It is the same price and I can sit in the lounge or out on deck.

Here is the info on the wireless access I got from the DCL site:

Wireless Internet
Enjoy the flexibility of using your own wireless-ready laptop computer at 10 locations throughout the Disney Wonder® and Disney Magic®. Download or upload your personal files; surf the Internet; stay in touch with friends, family and business associates with e-mail. Take advantage of your familiarity with your own computer with our wireless service.

Ship: Disney Wonder® and

Wireless is the better option.

It might be better to download emails and read/respond to them offline with an email client - quickly logging on and off each time.

You could definitely be more miserly with the wireless internet using your own computer whereas with the internet café terminals, you have to be connected for the webmail (and meanwhile the meter ticks).

Um, my company was once a start up and I still expected my employees to BE on vacation.

I want them relaxed, I want them to have fun, I want them to have time without work.

Mind reader! :lmao: I just posted I should probably do that instead.

Lucky employees!! Neither DH or I have ever been in a start-up like that didn't expect almost 24/7. Rewards can be pretty good, I have to admit.

Hrm, what do you all do...maybe we need to change that ;)

Bad Jemi, no recruiting on the message boards. (Honest mods that was humor!!)
