Universal Whats up?

:rotfl2: that's so wrong.

But back to the topic...Spiderman has, IIRC 70 (yes, SEVENTY) different computers controlling it. It probably still is the most technologically advanced ride on the planet and with that, things do tend to break down on occassion.

As for Test Track, yes, I worked for 3 months on a contract at Disney where I walked the parks every day. Test Track, TTA, and Splash Mountain, all went down many many times while I was working. It's pretty obvious too, because nowadays you can hear quite loudly the speaker of the ride ops or a recording saying that the ride has stopped, please stay in your seats, etc.

You see I have been on test track once in one night and nothing bad happened. The next tday I went on Spider-man and it went down twice. I guess it must have been a very bad day beause six years ago I went on it twice and didn't break down.

If your family and friends let little things bug them on trips, then it's best you go alone and don't worry about impressing them. You basically wanted them to share in your excitement, but they wanted nothing of it just because of a few glitches.
You'll have more fun if you come back to the parks on your own and tour early in the morning. You can go where you want, when you want.
People have this fear of being alone in a park. It's the complete opposite. Many people see my coaster shirts and start talking to me. For the coasters, I get in the 2nd row, and there's usually a seat in the front row available when the gate opens. I go on the rides many times, usually in the front row, without waiting much.

You could very well be right. I guess the reason why I felt so bad was because I wanted to impress people with the ride, but we just happened to have got their at the wrong time. We didn't get there until 6:00pm because we went to the other attractions first (I wanted to save spider-man for last since it is the best).

Next time, maybe around winter break this year I will just go with a small group of friends. Its true when you travel with family you go slower through the park, My freaking mother stopped at every bar they had there (that pissed me off, we could have made it to spider-man earlier). I do have a question, what time zones does the spider-man guy come out for pictures. I missed him this trip.

Disney doesn't break down as much as Universal.

I noticed lots of people keep quoting me on this. It wasn't me that made that statement. I was my parents, they think that universal is the only one with problems. That shows a little ignorance.

are you thinking of when they ride in on the atvs...storm, cp america, wolverine, etc?

it' s in the park guide book and i think when i was there lst oct, the hours varied......i know 3:00 was one of the times

Obviously you weren't there the day that I was when Small World broke down. I was on it for an HOUR and they didn't turn the music off.

That's right, an HOUR.

Rides break down. Deal with it.

Sounds like your parents are Disney people. Some of them seem to always think the worst of Universal. For some people, you cannot have the best of both "worlds". I love both Disney and Universal and have a great time wherever I am. I think you will have a much better time with your friends than your folks. They tend to get a little grumpy in old age:laughing:

Timmy Boy is right that there is a lot that goes into the rides. The coolest ones are bound to break down from time to time at any park. Maybe you don't notice it as much as Disney because there are more things to do.

Have fun on your next trip!

Yep, Disney's attractions never break down. You know why? They're magical!

And you know what else? The Easter Bunny exists. Well, he did. Unfortunately, I saw him get run over by a car the other day. My car. No more chocolate eggs, kids.
I have to go off topic and add something to this. Several years ago, I was driving my kids to school right around Easter time and there was a dead rabbit in the middle of the road. No biggie, right? Well, when I was driving back from school someone had placed an Easter basket and several carrots next to the poor rabbit! Sick humor? Maybe, but I'm hysterical just thinking about it!

Back on topic:
We used to go to Disney several times a year and certainly multiple visits to Epcot each time we went. It actually took us two years before we got a non-stop, everything working properly ride on Test Track. TWO YEARS!

In all the times I've been on Spiderman (and it's probably about a hundred by now;) ), there was ONE time the soundtrack was off. That's it!

Now that is funny!!! Sick but funny!!!

the more complicated an attraction, the more chances of something going wrong. we've been on Spiderman when audio/video didn't synch up, things like that. they've always taken us off and led us down the hall to the next Scoop for a re-ride.

but I've been on a rope swing and had the rope break on me as well, things just happen.

road kill with a basket, elvis, the rope breaks...ouch

you guys crack me up.
i love threads like this !!

I am talking about the guy dressed as spiderman at the spider-man ride. I remember people would take photographs with him before boarding the ride.

Excuse me but I actually do deal with it. I have already mentioned that I still went on the ride after the breakdowns. The people that have to deal with it are the elders.

i think he/she means that Spidey is usually seen taking pics in the gift shop after the ride....that's where i've seen a lot of his pix taken.... if you really want a pic w/ Spidey, go to Confisco's at IOA for character breakfast....he's there....

love the siggie.....everyone loses a brain once in awhile

look it up if you don't believe me. a friend of mine is Mormon and he was 'Elder Nance' while on his mission, he still has the name tag. :snooty:

he's never experienced the joy of riding Spiderman, however. :charac4:
