Interesting how Universal Studio's ticket prices usually slide under the radar as compared to Disney's ticket price increases.

Story in today's Orlando Sentinel reports that Universal Studios is revamping their ticketing, adopting the strategy that Disney has been using since 2005. In effect, the longer you stay, the cheaper per day.

Glad I bought my 7 day tickets a year ago for 85 bucks! :cool1:

Saw this over on the UK board, think I'll have to see if there's any UK agents selling the last of their stock on the good deal ASAP :)

:goodvibes

Darn. The girls won tickets. Now I guess James and I will have to buy them at the higher rate. This will also affect how long we go. It will be a shorter trip.

I was glad of the heads up on the UK boards and bagged 14 day 2 park Universal tickets from UK agents for $124 :)

The Dreams Unlimited 2 park that last 7 days are a great deal at $99.99 if still available :)

Check the DIS facebook page. In light of this announcement, they posted the link for 7 day tickets for $99. They do not expire, so snap them up if you know you will be going in the future!

I wonder how well this is going to work for Universal. At $99 I can see people buying the 7 days pass and using it, but at $170, I would personally go with the shorter 3 day pass and they would lose at least 3 days of my business in the parks. Maybe it's just me though. I know Harry Potter is going to generate alot of business for them, but with the price increases maybe people won't stay as long as they were originally thinking. KWIM?

Even with the cheaper 7 day pass, I do not plan to be there any longer than 3 or 4 days. Staying on site, there just isn't enough to do any longer than that.

Agree. We were there for 4 nights last year. After the 3rd day we pretty much hung out by the pool and relaxed. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. :beach:

Gotcha. I've never been to Universal, so I was wondering what the average stay is. If it weren't for HP, I would probably never go to Universal, but I will plan a trip to see HPW, I'm thinking 2 days will be enough for me now.

So do you think the new model will entice people to stay longer? It worked for Disney, will it work for Universal?

Thanks so much. i just orderd my tickets. I tried to look at Universals ticket prices today but their site was down. We will be in Orlando next week and I just figured I would get tickets when I got there. You really saved me some money!

Thanks for the heads' up. I just ordered the 7-day 2-park ticket from Undercover Tourist for $107.95.

I honestly don't think it will. Heck at Disney you have a lot more reason to stay longer. Four Parks, countless resorts and activities, Universal just don't have that kind of draw to go for a week or more.

Thank you Corey, I just bought three!

I'm sure I know this answer but these tickets don't have an expiration do they? Meaning, of course, a ticket that has not been scanned. I'm trying to decide if we will use them this year or not. I used the "print my own" option.

The tickets will not expire until you activate them at the gate so you can hang onto them for as long as you want. I would recommend changing the tickets once you arrive since the "print at home" tickets are actually full sheets of paper. Go to Guest Services once you arrive and exchange them for the "regular" tickets.

Thanks for the information and tip! I hung on to those paper tickets all week last time and while it worked, it wasn't easy. We are camping this Spring and paper+tent camping=wet paper. :rotfl:

Phew! I just bought my tickets with my package from Kathy with Dreams!

Thank goodness!
