Universal or Disney World???

Yep, NY is amazing. I live here in the city and a lot of Greenwich Village looks JUST like that, it's awesome! I don't find the music to be too loud. But then again, I like loud music.

The thing you're not understanding is that while Disney is GREAT, it's not for everyone. What is a "classic", family-friendly experience for some is a boring, babyish experience for others. Not everyone likes the same things.

That is exactly what I mean when I say Disney is different and has its own purposes! :thumbsup2

Are you talking about Disney World?? Because I have been to WDW 10 times at the least and I have been AMAZED at how spotless it is. The CMs are tested numerous times throughout the day to make sure they are cleaning up every last thing. I have NEVER seen any kind of litter or junk ANYWHERE in WDW. So I highly doubt Universal is 100% cleaner.

You can't say it is better themed and has better rides because they are completely different. It is like comparing apples to oranges when you say a statement so directly. Walt Disney World is a classic and the themes are remarkable! When in Fantasyland, you are only in Fantasyland and are unable to hear or see any other land. Same follows through with the other lands. MGM Studios is incredible in that the theme is present everywhere! Disney does an outstanding job on keeping with the theme. Also, the rides are extremely unique. Example: Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

Why do you list one song of many? For Universal you listed a few tracks, but for Disney you mentioned only one artist. Disney does NOT play that particular artists over and over again.

You cannot make the statement that Universal is more "adult". If you say that, you have NOT seen WDW through and through. Maybe if you go to to WDW sometime later, open your eyes more, you may actually see something besides what you WANT to put down.

Uh...The Grand Floridian is ranked up there as one of the better hotels in the United States! It carries a five star restaurant called "Victoria and Alberts" which is known as the BEST restaurant in the state of Floridia and is also ranking up there in the United States. I could go on and on about the GF as I have researched the place countless times for both the positive and negitives of it. For a hotel that is considered a high class best nationwide, I don't see how a hotel in Universal ranking less, is considered better. Maybe it is that way in YOUR opinion...but think about the facts first.

You took the words right out of my mouth!!!

I love both but, WDW is more my taste.

We always try and spend like a week at WDW and the like 2 days at Universal.

I love the atmosphere at disney cause it makes you feel like a kid again but, I do love some of the coasters at Universal.

None of thier rides top WDW's for me, though. :smooth:

Ok, I've been to the one Universal Park, i guess the main one. It does have very nice areas to walk through. If you like walking around it like 500 times in the day. It was REALLY small, unless I missed something. I mean I didnt go to islands of Adventure, so that could have something to do with it. But if that park is that small, it makes me think about Islands of Adventure. Disney has 4 parks to choose from, Universal has 2. And one of them, I know you can do in less than a day. And there are some really awesome looking parts of Disney that you dont find in Universal. Im going to WDW in less than a month. I'll take some pictures and once i get back I'll post them so that you guys can see that judging a park can't just be on a New York Street.

Yeah Universal Studios is pretty small. Although I sort of like it that way. You can do a lot and not completely wear yourself out. :confused3

Also Islands of Adventure is pretty big. I would say it's about Magic Kingdom size. Maybe a little less.

Disney has 4 parks to choose from, Universal has 2.
Why should that matter? I mean, Cedar Point is only one park, but I'll place that over both Disney and Universal. :confused3

And one of them, I know you can do in less than a day.
My mom and I can "do" Epcot, the largest Disney Park, by 3 pm sometimes. It all depends on how you order things.

And there are some really awesome looking parts of Disney that you dont find in Universal
Well of course you don't find them at Universal. It's at a different park.

We arn't judging it off of a New York Street. We are judging it off of...

1. New York Street
2. The Lost Continent
3. Suess Landing
4. Jurassic Park
5. Marvel Superhero Island
6. Port of Entry.

...and more.

:confused3

You're telling me that you can go through ALL of EPCOT by 3 pm? You do ALL of Future World and ALL of the World Showcase by 3 pm? That is simply outstanding!!!!!! You have time to walk through and enjoy EVERYTHING the World Showcase has to offer *shops included* and ride ALL the rides too? This includes queue length and show times. You can walk through The Land in its entirity as well as the Living Seas? You can sit through the Universe of Energy as well as Spaceship Earth as well as doing everything else? I HIGHLY doubt you can really "do" EPCOT by 3 pm. Most people can't even do EPCOT by closing and that is if they speed through! Sure I can "do" WDW in one day. I can enter a park, exit a park and enter again and simply call that "doing" a park. I have been to WDW every year since I was 7 (sometimes we went twice a year) and I know my way around EVERY park like the back of my hand. Even if I took every shortcut and ordered things perfectly, it is nearly impossible to "do" EPCOT from opening to 3. Sure you can go to the park and pick and choose what you want to do and consider that "doing" it, but because you didn't provide substantial backup to that statement, it makes for a VERY unlogical thing.

We don't do all of it. But this is what we get done by about 3.

Test Track (Twice)
Mission: Space
Soarin'
The Land Boat Ride
The Lion King Movie in The Land
Spaceship Earth (Twice)
Universe of Energy
Innoventions
The Coca-Cola Thing
Sometimes Honey I shrunk the Audiance
Living Seas
The Mexico Ride
Malstorm or whatever it's called
The America movie thing
Sometimes the Canada movie

We also walk through a good 90% of the shops. My mom gets some wine in Germany. Also take in consideration that we eat breakfast and lunch. Now I know that that isn't all of Epcot, but it's still quite a bit of stuff to do. Trust me, if you know what rides to hit at what times, when to get your fastpasses, and you can time your meals just right, you can do quite a bit in a short ammount of time.

Okay so you do about 1/8 of what EPCOT has to offer. By adding in that you do the largest park by 3 suggests you do it all and now you contradict yourself. You could essentially say you did a small amount of any park and get the same idea across. What you should have said was that you get a small portion of EPCOT done by 3. Half those rides I would never do again due to being bored out of my mind! LOL (just a side note lol) I could never get myself to do the Universe of Energy, The Land boat ride, Maelstrom, the Mexico ride, The Lion King ride, the America Movie, Spaceship Earth twice, and the Canada movie all in one day! I would be passed out after just riding the Universe of Energy LOL. What you have listed there is a little bit more realistic but also a VERY unexciting lol. I would have to wonder how you can get most of those shows done added in with rides by 3 however. Some of those things, in fact, a good amount of those things don't have Fastpasses and so you have to wait the stand by time. If you can get all that done by 3, I don't think you are seeing much of EPCOT at all. It would require good powerwalking lol, perfect timing, and hardly enough time for lunch. To me, this is something that could get done by 3 with a plan and a rush to get it done by 3. The point of it all is to enjoy everything, not rush it. That is another thing about Disney. Some people who claim to get stuff like that done very quickly are the people who tend not to see Disney for what it is worth...

I would say we do more like a third-two thirds, and this is how we do it.

Once the park opens, we head to test track. The crowd splits into three groups. First it splits in half with one half going to Soarin', and the other group heading to Mission: Space and Test Track, later that second group splits.

My mom and I are naturally fast walkers, and we kick it up a notch to try to miss the lines. Usually by the time we get to Test Track, we are close to the front of the group, and we usually just walk right on. After we get out of that we get fastpasses to go on it again.

After doing that, we head to Mission: Space. The longest listed wait time we've ever had for that ride was 15 mintues, and that 15 minutes was more like 5-10. After that, we check the line for Energy. Its usually either letting in, or it's only like a 5 minute wait until they do so, so we ride that.

Once we are done doing that, we head over the The Land. We just get fastpasses for Soarin'. Usually it's for like, 2:45-3, but sometimes it's a busy day, and we get nailed with 5, but mostly it's the first. After that we ride The Land. It's usually about a 5 minute wait. Once we get off of that, we eat a quick breakfast. My mom and I arn't big breakfast eaters, so I usually get like, a yogurt and a juice, and she gets some strawberries or something. :confused3 After we eat we watch the Lion King movie.

After that, we head over to the Living Seas. Walk around, see some fish. We usually skip the Crush thing. We've seen it once, and that's enough for us.

After Living seas, it's Honey I Shrunk the Audiance. That's all we really do in that area.

Then it's on to Spaceship Earth. My mom and I love it because it's so relaxing. Nice time to get a nap, seing as how we are both tired from getting up at 6 am. We ride that, then hit both inoventions. The things we really hit in those are the Plastic thing. The Fire house game thing, and the house of the future. We also skim over everything else, spending a few minutes here and there.

Once we are done with that, it's usually around Noon. This is when we head over to Mexico for lunch. After eating we ride the Mexico ride. (Just to laugh at how stupid it is). It's then on to Norway and the Maelstorm. We also walk through the shops there. Its then on to China, Germany, and Italy. The way we walk through the countries, is that we just walk through the shops. It's airconditioned, and there are less people, so that's what we do. By then we are at the American Adventure. (so corny :sad2: ). We watch the movie there, and walk through the shops. We then spend time in Japan and Morocco. We walk through France, (again going through the shops), the international gateway, United Kingdom, and Canada. We usually see the Canada movie. After that, we go do the Coca-Cola thing, ride Spaceship Earth again, use our Test Track Fastpasses, head over to Mexico so my mom can get a Margarita and I can get a Conga, then depending on what time it is, use our Soarin' fastpasses. By then it's usually about Three, and we've usually done everything we want to do. We don't like, run through the parks or anything. We just plan ahead of time. We know where people are going, and we go the opposite way. We know where we are eating, and when we are going to eat. We just know what we are doing. :confused3

Disney all the way! I had to post again! I really dont have to much interest in Universal..

That is not possible and here is why:

Future World opens at 9:00 am and the World Showcase opens at 11:00 am.

You said you do Test Track first. That ride is 5 minutes and 34 seconds long. You said you then get a FP. Okay. Now you go Mission Space. Figure in 5 minutes of getting there. That ride is 14 minutes long with a typical queue of 15 to 120 minutes. You said you usually get on with a 15 minute wait. Okay, (lucky you! lol I seem to be cursed when it comes to catching a short line like that lol). From there you go to the Universe of Energy. Figure in 5 minutes of getting there. That ride is 45 minutes long with a queue of 15-60 minutes. You then head over to Soarin' and get FP, figure in 8-10 minutes of getting yourself over there and getting FP (usually there are a lot of people getting passes and so maybe a wait of 30 seconds will be apparent). You then go to ride The Land. That is 14 minutes long with a typical queue of 15 to 60 minutes. Now you go get breakfeast. Figure 5 minutes finding a spot to order from and another 3 minutes getting the food (yogurt and juice). At this point it is about 10:30. (figuring in the minimum queue wait). You eat, figure in 5 minutes. Now you spend some time at Innoventions. Figure 3 minutes getting there. You say it is about noon by the time you get out of innoventions so figure in a time of 1 hour and 30 minutes spent there. So now that the World Showcase is open, you head over to Mexico for lunch. Figure in 10 minutes of getting there. Figure in 45 to order and sit down and eat. Now you get on the Mexico ride. It is 8 minutes with a typical queue of 15-60 minutes. (imho, it is 8 minutes of hell! LOL). So now you go over to Maelstrom. Figure in 7 minutes to get there. The ride is 14 minutes long with a queue of 10-30 minutes. You walk through the shops, figure in 10 minutes. Now you walk through the shops of China, Germany and Italy. Figure in 15 minutes (at minimum). So now it is off to the American Adventure. Figure in 7 minutes to get there. This ride is 28 minutes long with a queue of 10-30 minutes. You then walk through the shops. Figure 10 minutes. Now you spend time in Japan and Morocco, figure in 20 minutes. Oh and if you were wondering, it is now 3:20 pm. You now walk through France, international gateway, United Kingdom, and Canada. Figure in 30 minutes. Now you watch O'Canada. This ride is 13 minutes long. You visit the Cola place. Figure in 8 minutes getting there and 5 minutes walking through it (if you go quickly). You ride Spaceship Earth again, figure in 5 minutes to get there and another ride length of 14 minutes with a queue of about 15 minutes long. Use the Test Track FP and wait about 4 minutes. (Typical FP queue for this ride) The ride is still 5 minutes and 34 seconds. You then go BACK into the World Showcase to Mexico. Figure in another 8 minutes to get there (powerwalking lol). Get your drinks. Figure in 5 minutes. It is now 4:09. You then go to Soarin' and use the FP. Back to Future World so figure in about 8 minutes getting there. The ride is 7 minutes long with a FP queue of about 15-20 minutes. By this time it is 4:39 pm. This is using minimun time amounts.

1. Your estimated times are for the most part, off.
2. My mom and I can do it. Honestly, come with us, and you'll see that it is indeed possible. :confused3

The ride times are official and by using those times, I came up with the clock times. They are not very off. I used the fastest possible times and for your mom and you do to all that an hour and a half less is unfathomable. Respectfully of course. I don't doubt you can do a lot in EPCOT by 3, but to do all that in that order doesn't work.

I'm talking your estimated times, not ride times. For example you have us waiting 15 minutes for The Land. Thats more like 5. It only takes us about 30 minutes to eat in Mexico. We usually only wait about 5 minutes for the Mexico ride. We usually just walk on Spaceship Earth. Add in the fact that we usually just skip Energy, so there goes close to an hour from that. :confused3

They are both great :thumbsup2 both :sunny:ny

It is extremely unusual to get onto Spaceship Earth without a wait and initially you said you ride the Universe of Energy, now you are changing your story. However, this is starting to digress a bit. lol.

I've never, ever, ever, ever, EVER had to wait on line for Spaceship Earth. Ever. Every single time we went on it we walked right on.

In my zillions and zillions and zillions and zillions of times going to Epcot, I've only had to wait in a line once, maybe twice, for spaceship earth, and those lines took no longer than 5 minutes.

And also, yeah I actually should have said we normally don't ride Energy. Usually only if it's just loading or something. :confused3

Allllllllllllllllllso, I don't care how many times you tell me it's not possible to go through Epcot by 3 PM. My mom and I have done it. Actually multiple times. So I know for a fact that it's possible. So stop telling me it's not.

Now mind you we don't really stop to smell the roses, but thats because we've already done that. Multiple times. We know what the roses smell like, so we only look at them as we are passing by. We go in, plan out our day, decide what we are going to see and what we arn't, and we do it. We are done by around three, and we leave. My mom and I ususally go back to the hotel if we are staying on site, relax, then go to DTD or something at night.

Thank you and good night.

What do you guys do? Run in the park? The times Loves Disney had are right. Unless you hit a timewarp. It does take a while to get on Space Ship Earth sometimes. Now, granted, there are times when waits are super short. Which happens to Space Ship Earth near the end of the day. Also, I can't really remember if this was thrown in or not, but to use fast passes you must wait for your time to use them. Its not like you get them and go, you usually have to wait a little bit. So yea, if you can do all of that in Epcot, and actually ENJOY it and remember it and not kill yourself in the process bravo for you. And as far as having 4 parks. It does matter, it gives you more options on what you want to do. And (this was pointed out earlier but i must bring it back up) Universal is at there maximum space. WDW has acres upon acres upon acres to build on. Which space must be taken into consideration and how much expansion the park can achieve. And WDW can achieve a whole lot more than Universal. And as far as Universal being more adult, give me a break. So WDW has more of a "magic" touch. Me personally I like it, it makes me feel like a little kid again.
