I put this topic in Other Hotels and Attraction and Universal Orlando Resorts, because it doesn't matter which Resort/Theme Park. OK I can feel my skin burning:stir:

With that said....( I can't belive I'm going to ask this:blush:)

I'm basically look at the Standard Room at:
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge (Deluxe) vs Universals Royal Pacific Hotel .

Would you consider both to be the same level(room size, amenities).

Is one better than the other for those of you who have stay at either property.

Please let me know. TIA

We stayed at AKL in 2009 in a Savannah view bunkbed room. The lodge was amazing with spectacular details throughout. The kids adored the bunkbed option and they also LOVED eating on the balcony each morning watching the animals. I wouldn't turn down a free (or really inexpensive) trip to return.

We have stayed at RP twice now (this past May being the most recent), with another trip planned the end of Sept. I cannot get enough of that place! I'm not sure why exactly, but it just feels more luxurious to me.

Our first 2 visits to RP we have stayed in a "theme park view" 2 queen room (could see Dr Dooms Fearfall at IOA just barely) and then we have stayed in a pool view 2 queen. You could probably look up the precise sq ft of each resort's rooms online, but to me RP rooms felt just a little larger.

And the benefits of staying onsite at Universal far outweigh the benefits of staying onsite at WDW if you go to their respective parks. In fact this past visit we stayed 7 nights at RP knowing we also wanted to do MK and Epcot one day each in addition to our 4 days in IOA/US, and the choice as to which resort we wanted to book for the week easily went to RP with no qualms about it. Plus it was quite a bit less expensive that AKL would have been for the week, which was just a wonderful bonus.

I've stayed at both. I prefer RPR. I found AKL really sparse and although the main part of the Lodge is beautiful, I didn't think the rest of the hotel was anything special (except for the giraffe outside my room, lol). I found that it took such a long time to get from the hotel to the parks, that it really took away from my enjoyment.

I haven't stayed onsite at Universal yet, but I will be in Mar/Apr trip ! :)

I would split stay. I would go go use the univ while at universal and dis while at disney. Unless you are going less than 5 days, checking in/out once is no sweat. Get the best of location no matter where you are.
