Universal offering rainchecks

I just read this in the local news and thought I'd share...I don't have any other details...Earl???

Rainchecks Available at Universal Orlando
Universal Orlando is now the first of Orlando's big three theme parks to give rainchecks. Originally, Universal officials said the idea wasn't feasible in central Florida, since it rains almost every afternoon in the summertime. However, the torrential downpours of the last couple of months caused a change of heart, so now Universal offers a raincheck that is good after 4 p.m. and must be used within three days. Walt Disney World doesn't give rainchecks and SeaWorld Orlando gives guests second-day tickets good for admission within seven days.

Boy, it's too late for all of the MAD people I ran into in June! There was a woman at the front desk asking what should she do because she was only able to enjoy one day out of 3 to the parks because of the rain. The clerk was basically telling her

I don't mind the rain myself but it's great that they offer this. I just wonder how many people will misuse this perk?

Right...I wonder what the "rules" will be...I mean, it IS possible to enjoy the parks in the rain, that's what ponchos are for...but when it's so much that they actually have to close attractions, THEN I can see where it can be a real problem! So I wonder what the criteria will be...as in, will they have had to shut down some of the attractions to qualify...? Surely just a passing shower won't warrant a raincheck issuance...
I guess the "after 4" thing is to help keep people from abusing it too much!!!

Last year DD and I were at River Country when the skies opened up and the lightning began... I over heard a woman talking to a cast member who said if the park was closed for at least a half an hour and you had been in the park less than 3 hours, they would give you a return ticket. As soon as the half an hour arrived, I marched to the window and asked for the ticket. Another woman was behind me to do the same. First, CM acted as though she did not know what I was talking about. I spit out the whole thing again and the lady behind me began to raise her voice. That was all it took. CM checked our tickets to see what time we arrived (It was within 15 min. of the 3 hr. window.) She then surprisingly issued one day tickets to Typhoon Lagoon "that are good for the rest of your life", meaning we could use them whenever we returned. (I guess she did not know River Country would close!) However, I have sent an E-mail asking where they will honor it now. I believe they only do that in the water parks-Not the regular parks, and it is only id they actually CLOSE the park for more than half an hour.-But, it was a "raincheck", so to speak.

I really hope people don't abuse this. This is a great thing they are doing.
