This will be our 3rd trip to Disney, but our first to Universal. My son is old enough now that he has interest in going here. What rides would be good for him - he will be 8 and *LOVES* Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (road it 11 times 2 years ago) , Test Track, and this time he wants to try Tower of Terror and Expedition Everest. Soooo, what rides at Universal will most interest him?

Also, we will be traveling with my (very active) parents who are in their 60s, but they do need to avoid rides that might aggravate some minor back/neck problems. My DH will be able to take DS on the wilder ones, but I don't want my parents to try something they shouldn't.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Hi In the same boat !! Know Disney well but am Floundering in Florida on this !!!:rotfl2:
My DD and the kids are doing Universal while I do a solo portion at Pop !! I am thinking of joining them for 1 day Any tips on what rides/ attraction theis Non Rollercoaster, Big drops or spinning Mamma would enjoy would be great!!! Hey Befferk your son and I would prolly like the same :lmao:

If he's 8, he *should* be able to ride Doctor Doom (IOA), Simpsons (I dread the ride, honestly.), Rip Ride (Have fun waiting an hour and a half, unless you're getting express), Mummy, just about everything except Dueling Dragons and Hulk (unless he's lucky, of course).

Your parents could ride like E.T. and Jaws, but a majority of the rides have notifications of neck/back pain. Although, most of these are exaggerated (in my opinion).

Shreck,Jimmy Neutron have stationary seating.Simpsons is allitle rough and MIB and Spiderman do alot of spinning.Dudley DoRight is A real fast log flume as is JPRA,Popeye's is one of the best river rapid ride I ever rode and you will get soaked to the bone.Other then the coasters the other rides and shows are fairly tame.
Oh don't miss the Horror Makeup Show at the studios, its A not miss for the whole family!!

I see it twice A day when we go.I just love how they improv on the jokes!!:thumbsup2

Yeah bruv, I know-- It's great ;D. I hardly am able to see it anymore, because my brother is scared of it for some reason. Ah well.

JPRA real fast?!? Not sure I have ever moved slower in my entire life then I have on that ride. But then ending I suppose could be mildly fast.

Good advice though!

If the 8 yr old is tall enough and willing to ride Everest you should try out the Mummy on him. Awesome coaster, Height req is 48". I believe the new coaster is 47" req but I prefer Mummy over it.

Hes right about Popeyes rapids too they are the best I have ridden ever.

Have your son study the MiB tips up top w/o tellin hubby so he can school him and feel all happy that he beat his Dad!

As for the parents...At US prolly only need to avoid Mummy. Possibly Simpsons but it is not too bad.

You may want to save a few dollars by not even getting the 2 park pass for them if you have yet to purchase as most at IOA are thrill types. Only 2 shows and are not too amazing. But the scenery is great and worth walking around imo.

Another vote for Horror Make-up Show. :) Pretty much the reason I go to Universal.

44 times since January 21st of this year.. somewhere in the 50s this week :)

A very enjoyable show, especially with the original actors.

Thanks for all the advice. My son is very brave, and he is over the usual 48" coaster requirement, so I'm sure he'll have a good time :thumbsup2 We'll definitely check out the Horror Make-Up Show too.

Jonny_Duck - for the tickets, we were lucky enough to grab the 7-day/2-park tickets for $99 a few months back, I was so glad we did that! ;)

If he is tall enough.. he will LOVE Spiderman.. the Simpsons.. and Jimmy Newtron!

Negative ghostrider, I think it's 52". My little cousin has gone on the Mummy for years, and just barely got on Rip Ride Rockit (had to slide the card under the stand to see if he was indeed tall enough).

Oh that Make Up show sounds interesting to me !! I am a total NON Coaster type ride person !!! But I know I would like the Popeye Wet Ride:rotfl2: I'm glad to have found this thread as I need to learn all I can so I can plan the families days !!!:rotfl2:

51"...Knew it was some random weird number.
