Universal meets, Friday, May 21 (update 5/17 -- time change!)

OK, I've finally figured out some meet times for this Friday, May 21st for all those that are interested.

12 noon: Across the street from Revenge of the Mummy, USF
7 pm: In front of Monster Cafe, 7 pm

We'll see what the wait time for Mummy is. We might need to get Express tickets or hit the single rider line.

All those that show up to either meet will receive a DIS Meets 2003 DVD if you haven't gotten one. One per family. The DVDs are burned onto DVD+Rs, so please check your DVD player for compatibility. Generally, newer DVD players can play DVD+Rs.

We'll try to be at both. Hoping we can get near Mummy on Friday. From what I heard, there is a strong possibility that there will NOT be any Express open this first weekend, even for hotel guests .

I am just going to get up early Saturday morning and get there when the park opens to ride. I think it will be easier than fighting the "opening day" crowd.

If it's hot, we'll be in the couch area in Finnegans at 11am.
7 pm is a no-go, but will be in there that nite just to see the chaos!

Rode mummy on Wed. 5-12-04. Universal was letting a limited number of riders inside. Since I am from California I will compare it as a cross between Indiana Jones @ Disneyland and Space Mtn. The different part of the ride is the beginning when you go backwards. It is a smooth and fun ride. The overall best attraction in Orlando! The fire on the ceiling is a cool touch. Anyone @ Universal this week might get lucky. I only waited ten minutes as they were having some technical difficulties after I was already inside. On 5-13 people were waiting in the shade for a chance to ride and would mingle around the entrance every time
an operator would get on the phone, only to be disappointed. Be aware that you can not bring any carryons. The free lockers are to the right.

I will try my very best to high-tail it over to ROTM for the 11:00 a.m. meet. Our family is going to the Shrek2 AP breakfast/attraction/movie at 7:00 a.m. that day. The film starts at 9:00 a.m at the CityWalk Cineplex. I'm not certain, but if the movie runs about 95 mins. we should make it back to USF in time. Please try to hang out there just a bit before getting in the Mummy line. I really would like to meet some fellow board members. I know that many of you know each other already. How will I recognize you guys?????

They tested express yesterday (hotel guests only) and were running it today (as normal). I would expect them to have express on opening weekend.

Yeah, and we did a lot of playing around with it. If the express line is short, they are loaded every other car (on their side). If it's long, they get every car.

There were times where the express line was 0-5 mins!

I just checked and Shrek2 runs for 105 minutes meaning that we won't get out of the Cineplex until 10:45 a.m. at the earliest. Any chance we could push it back just 1/2 an hour to 11:30???

I'm actually trying to find out if we can attend another showing of the movie at some other point in the day. When we got our tickets for the event, we actually got two sets. (There are four of us.) The first set of tickets is for the Shrek Breakfast with a specific time of 7:00 a.m. The second set of tickets just says Shrek Movie Event with no time specified. I was kind of hoping that we could attend an afternoon showing of the film because while it's great that we're in the park at 7:00 a.m. and get to ride Shrek before the park opens, we then lose all the good early morning touring time at the Studios.

I hope to be able to make the meet.

I have the same question cc1954 does about the 7pm meet (cant meet for the 11, will still be in Jacksonville @ work) but want to be at the evening meet. Will the park remain opened to AP Holders? & if I get there say 6:45 will they still let us in?

I believe that AP passholders will be confined to a certain area until it's time to ride, much like what's done with HHN.

As for the 11 am meet, I'm going to move it up to noon.
