I'm taking my family to Universal for the first time this coming January. With the cooler temps, we will probably avoid rides where you can get wet. :cold: As I am not all that familar with Universal or IOA, I am hoping someone here can help me screen out the rides. In reading through the descriptions, it seems that IOA has quite a few rides where you could get wet. Any experiences would be helpful!

Thanks!!!

at IOA: Jurassic Park River Adventure
Ripsaw Falls
Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

you can get a little splashed on Jaws at the Studios, but not bad.

Rides you can get wet on
IOA:
Dudley Do Right....Flume
Jurassic Park River Adventure....Flume
Blutos Bilge Rat Barges.....raft ride
One Fish Two Fish.....fish squirt you a little

USF.....Curious George, wet playground

Anything else

If it's really cold out, they turn the water off on One Fish Two Fish.
For JPRA, if you sit in the back row, you only get a little splash.

Popeye's is the one where you get really wet, soaked all over - I am not 100% if it is open in January but if it is stay well clear.

Do not, repeat not, ride Dudley Do Rights. I was busily congratulating myself on remaining relatively dry on the ride and getting past the people shooting the water guns on the bridge. What I hadn't realised is that the water cannons shoot from the opposite direction and I was absolutely drowned. Even at 80 degrees, we were cold and wet for a long time!

We rode Kali River Rapids in January and Disney had these huge blow dryers that had us dry in about 2 minutes!

When we go in Jan we bring along some disposable ponchos for the water rides. The only ride in Universal that is questionable with a poncho is Bilge Rats, I usually make it through with only the bottom area of my shorts wet and remember to keep your feet against the center console area of the raft. I like going on the water rides this time of year because there never seems to be a line. We always hit the dry rides first then return to the water rides before we leave just in case we do get wet.

I totally agree with fws. I am about 240lb and sat in the front in the Dudley do-right ride and absolutley got drenched and the water knocked of my sunglasses too.
