Universal Hotels closed to Universal Help Needed!

Has anyone stayed here? We are coming in from 12/16 through 12/27. We are going to be on Disney property for the first 1/2 of our stay, but will be moving to Universal area for the 2nd 1/2 of stay. I am looking for a hotel around $100 a night or less that is close enough to either walk to Universal or shuttle there from the hotel. Any suggestions? I have been researching, and Hampton Inn seems to be OK and I have read they have a great free breakfast. But, maybe there are others out there that I don't know about that are better? We will not have a rental car. Thanks!

Holiday Inn Express and Double Tree are right across the street from Universal property. Many have just walked over from one of those 2 and jumped on the boat at PBH to City Walk or took the walking path over there.

This way you don't have to worry about shuttles or anything.

Friends of ours have stayed at the Doubletree and loved it. They are quite fussy and I don`t think they had one complaint.

Can`t help with prices as they booked it as a package.
