Universal Gift Card,used one??

Yee-haw when my Grandma found out I was planning a trip to Universal she went and bought me a gift card to use!!! Gotta love Grandma!
It says on it I can use it towards tickets or trade in at the ticket booth for Universal Dollars?? Has anyone ever done this? I could us it towards the tickets, but I'm a little interest in the dollar thing, can they be used towards anything even your food purchases?
It says on the back it can ONLY be redeemed at the entrance of either park, so I'm guessing I couldn't use it towards my tickets anyway being I'm buying them online?

Thats right you can only use it at ticket window to purchase tickets and when you trade it in for universal dollars and yes you can use it on food.

Even though I have to trade it in for the dollars, they'll come in handy and help with stuff.
