Staying at the Royal Pacific in August with family of 4
Is it possible to find an acceptable inexpensive breakfast within walking distance? We are there 8/10-8/16 and I can't see spending $40+ each day. We didn't get the club level either as this would have added $600+ to vacation.
Any recommendations? Thanks

The lobby lounge serves a continental breakfast. Lots of quick offerings. You could also grab a cinnabon on the way to the park. In the park you can get a green egg and ham sandwich. There is a bakery in each park that has breakfast too.

Yup, milk , chocolate milk, coffee, tea and all sorts of juices. :thumbsup2

There is also Pastamore in Citywalk. They do a small variety of breakfast dishes (all a bit bland) but very cheap. You can sit outside and watch the crowds rushing into the parks!

Welcome aboard.

Agree, breakfast in the parks can be expensive. Most will recommend the Cinnabon place in City Walk on the way in.
I tell everyone to stock a cooler before checking in. Most limo services will make a stop as a perk for using them. If you have a rental car, then it's easy. You drive to Publix just north of the park, and stock up.
Eating doughnuts in the room not only saves money, but time, as you don't have to stop once you get everyone moving.
Yes, you're staying onsite, but if you want front seat rides on the coasters, it's a good idea to get to the gate first at 08:15am. Eating breakfast in the hotel room will let you do that.

Since you are new, I'll post a link to my site.

That'll be us!!! :thumbsup2

By the way, you said they stop at Publix? and the styrofoam cooler is in the beer aisle, correct??

You'll have to ask your limo driver if they will stop. I've never used a limo service, I just heard they'll stop as a perk for using them. Most people report they are nice about doing that. They may want to stop at the Walgreens, which is located right across the street from the parking garage. This is a drug store, with some food and drinks. Publix is a major grocery chain. If you go there, you'll have everything, plus the liquor store next to it. The Publix is 1 mile north of the park on Conroy Road, the driver will know where it is.
Yes, styrophome coolers are located in the beer isle up high. You'll have to reach up to grab one. They're cheap, like $5-6. Once you are done, just leave it next to the ice machne, and someone will take it.

I take it from this post that the rooms do not have mini fridges. Can you rent one? My daughter has a medical diet that we will need a fridge for.

There are mini bars in the rooms. Just don't move anything. You can also rent a fridge.

We always eat breakfast at Croissant Moon in IOA or the Boulangerie in Universal because their breakfast croissants with egg, ham or bacon and melted cheese are so very, very yummy.

From what I read, you can ask (& pay) to have the minibar fridge emptied and use it..one time fee (maybe $25??) You can ask the front desk...they should be able to accomodate "medical reasons".

Another vote for hitting Publix on your way in...especially if you're going to need a mini fridge anyway. You'll be able to get some fresh fruit, OJ, milk, cheese wedges, cereal, quick meal bars, cottage cheese...whatever you guys like. Just be sure to pack any plastic bowls/plates/utensils you might want. I generally use a tiny suitcase for my coffee pot, coffee and bowls/cups and stuff.

Not only does this save time in the mornings and some major $$$, it's a heck of a nutritious way to start the day when you and your family will expending so much energy. I know DH and I feel a lot better and more energized throughout the day when we do this versus eating something junky first thing in the morning.

Nice Post PlutoLuvr,

That's what I've been trying to tell everyone. It's not only the time, and money, but the quality of the food you can get.

Most people don't have any clue about stopping at a grocery store before checking in. Most limo services will do this, IF YOU ASK. Yes, it takes 1 hour of your time, but go for it. Pick up the styrophome cooler in the beer isle, and then fill your cart with beer, wine, doughnuts, milk, juice, coke, chips, and other snacks.

We were offered this the first time we went and used Happy Limo to pick us up...opted not to use it. This year, we rented the Hummerzine :car: (surprise for DS7) and DH said, "I don't care if we even only get a case of water, we WILL be stopping!" (Apparently less than 20 miles from the airport and DH wants all the time he can get.) So, I noticed on my reservation from Happy Limo that we do get a grocery stop.....but, it's NOT limited to the 15 minutes like the last time we used them. And, our pick-up time and drop off time are 2 hours! So, I'm guessing, I can take my time in the store....just getting the cooler and some drinks, snacks and light lunch and breakfast foods.

Thanks, Robvia :)

I agree with you completely. I don't hold back on spending, nor eating, when I'm on vacation (well, within reason I suppose), but eating three meals a day at restaurants day after day after day gets a bit taxing on both my wallet and GI system. We don't have a problem eating all our meals at restaurants when we go for a two- or three-day weekend, but for longer trips, breakfasts and "tasty beverages" seem the most logical things for us to take care of ourselves and still enjoy all the parks/resorts have to offer. I figure by making our in-room breakfasts and making a few drinks ourselves, that adds at least one really nice dinner to our budget or, in some cases, an extra night we can spend.

This saves soooo much time in the mornings, too, for our group. We can eat some cheese on some nice crackers with a glass of OJ while we're getting ready, then take a banana, apple or Luna bar on the boat ride or walk over to the parks, and breakfast is done. No food lines or waiting on food/servers. Plus, we're truly full until lunch, which saves even more time and $$$ not munching on stuff all morning.
