Universal being bashed by Disneyites!!

Well, this is, after all the Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure Forum.

LOL whoops! Wasn't trying to be repetitive...just trying to get my point across! :)

Apparently repeating yourself is no longer allowed. On the bright side, guess we won't have to hear about those GB's anymore because she said she liked them once.:p Just when you think these threads got civil and were dead, someone drudges them back to life.

:rotfl: LOL!!!

Yeah...like THAT'LL ever happen!!

It IS why I don't post trip reports anymore though! ::yes::

My 4yo had a Sponge Bob shirt on at WDW and one day a WDW cast member commented on how he likes Sponge Bob. It was me that mentioned that we were at the wrong park for him to have that shirt on and the cast member and I got a laugh. I wouldn't have been offended if he had of mentioned it or if someone at Universal said something about Jake's Tower of Terror shirt. Now, someone harrassing someone else about it would be a different matter, but some ribbing isn't a bad thing.

I never said that, but I did say that in doing so in a negative manner just adds fuel to the fire.

What cracks me up is how hypocritical some people are. They get bent out of shape when Disney people bash Universal, so what do they do? Start posting on the same topic in "defense" and then give themselves self-congratulatory hi-fives and say "we showed those Disney people!"

*shrug* At first I was a bit...upset with Disney people bashing our park...especially when someone decided to single out the Ghostbusters Show (I get enough of that over here!!! :p). I guess I thought I'd want to put Disney people in their place but saying how much I dislike Disney and all. Over here it's obvious because...where I go to Universal at least once a week...who has time for other parks?

Oh well. If they continue to bash Universal, I'm not going to step in anymore. I already put in my two-cents. :)

Though I thought we already made amends with the Disney folk?

I don't know what thread you were reading but I saw absolutely no negative posting from Flyfly or any of the universal group on that thread. All that I saw were people posting why they love Universal or correcting misconceptions like how we have never seen graffiti covered bathrooms at Universal. If that's adding fuel to the fire then I say bring on the marshmallows.

Flyfly, there is no need for you to make amends to the Disney people. You did nothing wrong.

Tigger&Belle a didn't mind the first worker joking around about me buying a new shirt as I was at the wrong park...But the other worker went over board putting sponge bob down...

That was the one and ownly moment I felt uncomfortable at either Disney or Universal on my vacation....I must say 99.9% of the people I met were the nicest people I ever met and In general loved the antention the workers give you.

Can you back that up with some quotes please, since I seem unable to find these hypocritical posts.

Thanks Bev...I just don't want to make enemies on this board...and since this seems to be such a touchy topic (wow...)....

This is why I stay away from the debate board. I wouldn't be able to contain myself properly over there. :p :p

I gotta make my shirt...it's a Mickey Shirt that I was gonna get iron-on letters saying "I'm going to Universal!" (because it looks like Mickey is walking somewhere). It would be kewl!!

No it would be "cool". Don't start that weird spelling nonsense Flyfly or we'll have to ban you, you know.:p

LOL

Now would the GB's approve of that? ;)

You are really obsessed with them huh? I've never seen the show, perhaps in honor of you I will have to check it out sometime.

Ghostbusters obsessions, Haunted Mansion obsessions, roller coaster obsessions...it's the same thing really, except with different people.

The Ghobusters area can have up to three shows at once within viewing distance -- the GBs, Street Breaks, and the Blues Brothers. Some of the shows even overlap, so you can hear the Blues Brothers while Street Breaks is going on! :)

When you win the Super Bowl, just say, "I'm going to Universal!"

The problem with bashing Disney is that you're bashing nostalgia. No one will ever be able to make the argument that Dumbo is a better ride than One Fish, Two Fish -- or Mad Tea Party over Storm Force -- but Disney purists will argue that it's a superior attraction because it triggers an emotional response.

I'm not saying that that's right or wrong, only that you are best left ducking away from that thread because it's like arguing with someone over politics or religion. You're not going to sway the other person and both parties will only get more worked up in the process.

The worst thing that could ever happen is if everyone would favor the same one park over another. We would be down to just one park -- not seven -- in the Orlando area and we would all lose.

I used to read all of the Universal bashing and bought into it for some reason. My son finally talked me into going to Universal and now I'm hooked! I love both Disney and Universal and bashing either one seems so pointless to me. They both have their fans and their strengths and liking them both is to my advantage.

I have an uncomfortable feeling that eventually the public will discover Universal and then it will be totally packed!
