Unity candle vs. sand ceremony

We had a destination wedding in Jamaica.

We chose to do a sand ceremony. I bought 2 of the same size tall bottles with a cork, and then 1 bigger bottle with a cork for us to pour it into.

We didn't use colored sand, but gathered sand from the beach in Jamaica and used that. We still have all 3 bottles as decor in our "tropical" guest bathroom.

ok now - WHERE did i read about somebody doing a PLAY_DOH ceremony?!?!?!? was it on here or another blog?? cant remember!! but even though the ides starts off kind of silly, its kind of a cool idea!! unless you just ade something weird out of your play doh.

We are also doing a sand ceremony. I never liked the look of the candles, and I really like that the sand blends together to represent our families blending together. We bought a nice jar with a lid that we can keep forever.

But I must say that I am even more convinced of the sand ceremony after reading daisygirl902's post. The solid layer for each individual followed by the blending is a great idea!
