"United Kingdom" CM Name Tags

Some times I was also known as Pat from the USA which is one of the Bin names (try explaining a UK accent but being from the US and working in the UK pavillion its very strange).
I've heard that some Guests think the UK CMs are actually Americans who Disney sent over to the UK to learn the accents!!!!lol:)

Awesome-I love to sit outside the Commissary and listen to the TV Theme songs!

Did your Texas friends make you a Texas Longhorns fan?:)
Haha! I used to try and race to bus x amount of tables before a TV them would finish. I was cool :p

I'm sorry I'm not sure what that is; guessing American football/baseball? She did tell me about "what a burger", which for most of our time together I thought it was "water burger". Until she wrote it down in a message to me! Haha!

"Water burger"-too funny!:)

I understand trying to understand accents-I was "talking" to a man from Scotland at WDW once and didn't understand a WORD!lol

I would just "nod" every now and then as if I was following along!lol:)

Yes,the Texas Longhorns are a very famous American college football team-think "Manchester United famous".:)

I had Canterbury, England on mine. i actually live in another town 15 mins away but chose Canterbury because i knew it's a place Americans may of heard of and it helped with conversations

I've also spotted than most of the loaner names people have used could be male or female. Alex could be Alexandria or Alexander, Chris could be Christopher or Christina. Same goes for Pat and Sam.

Yep they make sure they are as makes it easier to find a name tag if you forget yours.

The United Kingdom is a country.

No its not and to say that to some from Great Britain is quite offensive. The United Kingdom is a collection of Countries . With England being where i am from and Scotland who dont want to be part of the United Kingdom . Wales and Northen Ireland

Just be careful next time

technically this should say "some from the UK" as Great Britain is only England, Wales and Scotland and I think some of the people in Northern Ireland might get annoyed at it too.

Personally I don't really mind if it is considered a country but you are right, it is a collection of countries. Its like Africa being referred to as 1 country - it really isn't technically but a lot of people do for simplicity rather than calling it a continent. UK is I guess a kingdom but even wikipedia claims its a country - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom

The US gov't also considers the UK as 1 country. You can't get a US passport listing your place of birth as England, Wales, Scotland, or Norther Ireland -- it will say United Kingdom, country code GBR (Great Britain).

This is not the case for Africa, as a PP stated as a comparable situation. Anyone born in Africa will have their country of birth listed.

True sorry bad example I was on about more in terms of what people say rather than official documents. Great Britian however does not include Northern Ireland so I still think its odd you put country down as GBR. It also depends on whether you get a British or Irish passport as you can have either

Who knows why the government does what it does, lol.

Actually the majority of us do want to be part of the UK that's why No won. Bit offensive to say we all want to leave. (Especially as I'm currently working in London so obviously I like being part of the U.K.)

I couldn't agree more with your comment. Common sense would say that as the scottish people clearly voted to stay in the UK, it is particularly puzzling for someone to state that they wanted to leave? Extremely puzzling assumption and clearly not the case.

Old post just bumped up, yep, saw that. Hadn't seen any of the the thread before.

She was in the college program, but instead of the university she had the town where she grew up on her tag. Funny thing was we had moved from that town while she was in college.

Why is it funny? You guys moving didn't make her *from* that new town.

I grew up in San Jose CA. My mom moved to south FL just after I started college. Didn't mean I suddenly became from Miami! Just made that first spring break a bit more impressive-sounding that first year.

We are from where we are from. Not where our parents move to after we are adults.

Yeah, just because I have lived in Pittsburgh for 30+ years, I am FROM Cleveland, especially during football season!

Totally off topic, but I noticed on The Good Place TV show when they showed a video of how you got points to go there, remaining loyal to the Cleveland Browns was one of the big points earners.

Fun article - but there are a couple of little inaccuracies:

"It is always positioned over a cast member’s heart, on their left side." Or on the right side based on costume design (Security & Tower of Terror)

"Disney name tags only list a cast member’s first name and their hometown." Or country, or fantasy planet (Launch Bay), or fictitious character (Muppet Mobile Lab) - the article talks about colleges too.

"...individuals display a Jiminy Cricket pin on their name tag." It's a separate pin that is worn on the right side of the costume, not part of the name tag at all.

"In order to earn the language pins, cast members must pass a fluency test." This has actually changed over the last year; Cast can just request a language pin.

"Individuals with a Steamboat Willy pin have worked for Disney between 12-23 months. Pins with different characters and year number are provided to cast members who have worked for Disney for at least 24 months." At your 1 year anniversary you get Steamboat - the next pins come at 5, 10, 15, etc. There is nothing for 24 months.
