WOW! ALL UNITED FLIGHTS were grounded this morning for "automation issues"...
Watching CNN and supposedly computer glitch over now...BACKLOG and delays expected!:scared1:
AIRPORT LINES looked herendous! GOOD LUCK to those flying today.:goodvibes
As a safety net, ALWAYS purchase trip insurance "just in case"...If delayed more than 5 hours, at least hotel, meals would be paid for if must fly the next day; never hurts as a precaution!

Anybody who was caught up into this is entitled to compensation - how much depends on how long the delay was. Unlike weather delays, this was the airline's fault. :)

Fortunately, this was the entirety of an airline, so cascading failures should be minimal as people can still make their connections. As for the lines ... those looked like Tuesday at LaGuardia. :D

First United, then NYSE, then Wall Street Journal...Must wonder if it was cyber terrorism related? :eek:All were supposedly automation isdues????:confused3 HOPE ALL traveling eventually made it SAFELY!:goodvibes

United did confirm it was a computer problem - and they cancelled 60 flights, over 800 delayed - what a mess, this is the 2nd time they've had computer problems since they merged with Continental - I imagine they have outsourced a lot of their computer techs/software people, not to mention the infrastructure!

NYSE - I was listening to the radio on the way home, they may have been joking but did say they rebooted around 2 and it started, they were talking about the tech jobs, call an IT person etc... it should be interesting to hear that report in the coming days... but more and more of the computer jobs are going to special work permits from people coming in - and they get paid a lot less, and don't have the same knowledge as some of the people they may have replaced. (remember when Disney announced the same thing, )

Second? Or third? time for UA. They've had more than their fair share of issues since the CO merger, and seem to have the twitchiest reservations system.

It has the been the second time since June. There have been multiple other times that their systems have crashed.

March 13th and June 18th, so the third time this calendar year, and I seem to recall a few times last year as well.
