We've flown twice with United, once to Australia via Orlando in 2004 and last year, no problems whatsoever. Really friendly crew and even got upgraded to business class on the way home.
If you are running late for the connecting flight then you will be put to the front of the queue, make sure you have filled the immigration cards though, I missed something and it's a little embarrassing with everyone watching.
