My friend booked a flight on United and for one leg of her trip, the web site is not allowing her to choose her seats. It says "No Seat Maps" on the web page where normally you'd be able to choose your seat. Then at the very end of the process when she paid for her tickets, it said "N/A" for seat assignment. Can someone please explain what this means? We're hoping its not "standby" because she's traveling with her daughter. Does it just mean they haven't assigned the seats yet??

Thanks so much!!!!

It could mean that they have not finalized the type of plane for that leg of the trip yet OR it may require gate check-in at that airport for seat assignment. This happens to me occasionally when I book United online -- I just call the reservations number and get them to do a seat assignment for me. Unless the flight is restricted for some reason, they should be able to do this for your friend.

Thanks Steve, that's what I thought too! I told her what you said, to call the reservations number to see if they can assign them seats.
