Every year at christmas I try to buy my DW one gift that is...well, different. Oh, I always get her the usual kinda stuff, but with just one gift I try to go "outside the box". :teeth: I've adopted a panda in her name, did the "onestock.com" thing (Disney, of course)...even bought her a piece of the moon (long story ;) ). But this year, I'm struggling to try to find something "different" like that, so I thought I'd come here for a little help.

So, have you guys got any "odd" gift ideas like that? Keep in mind that I'm talking about something you can do for less than $100 or so (I'm spending enough on "normal" stuff :teeth: ).

Thanks in advance!

Already did the star registry thing :teeth: But that's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. :thumbsup2

This is not so much outside the box as unique. Go to http://www.sharonjohnstonjeweler.com/index.asp, and look at the rings. They have round gemstones that can be changed. There are several styles that she offers in a boxed set that include the ring and 6 (or so) stones, some as low as $66. They are very different.

I don't know if it can be done from outside the parks, but what about a legacy tile at Epcot or a brick at Disneyland?

Cool--what a hubby, buys his wife the moon and the stars. LOL If I come up with something I will post.

I've thought about the "brick" thing at WDW (we've done the "Legacy" picture already), but kinda feel like that's more of an "us" thing than a "her" thing, if that makes since. :teeth:

Thanks :teeth: I do try to put a little thought into gifts for anyone (last year, I found an Epcot opening day commerative coin on eBay for an equally Disney crazed coworker, for example). But I'm running out of Disney things to get that don't - again - feel more like an "us" thing than something just for her.

How about sponsoring an animal at a shelter?

Is there something from her childhood that she always talks about?

I was always telling my husband about the Little House on the Prairie Colorforms set I had when I was little and how much I loved playing with it. Well, last year for Christmas he found one on EBAY. I LOVED it! My DDs and I sat down and played with it right away!

I just saw on amazon in their gourmet food section these baskets of nostalgic candies from each decade. You could get her one from the 60s or 70s or 80s. Very fun stuff and so many childhood favorites! They also sell that kind of thing at www.vermontcountrystore.com

what about sponsoring a section of landscaping in your town. not sure what the cost is, but around here there are little signs all over attributing the upkeep to x company or y family.
