Unique offer codes

So I was booking our trip for December when the website was experiencing issues. I decided to call, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that I had a unique offer code that beat out the room discount. So I was curious why these come along, and I saw on the forums that many people get them either through the mail or email. I did a lot of scanning and couldn't find any email from Disney with said-code. Had I not called, I never would've known. So in hopes of not missing these in the future, how are they sent? Do they come from the Disney Travel Company?

Disney emails these or direct mails occasionally. Or they used to. I've never gotten one so am envious.

I never got one through email or mail either...so I was surprised when I called. Needless to say that's how I will be booking from now on.
