We did name our daughter Paris...it fits her perfectly (she is so girly). We chose this name before Paris Hilton became mainstream.

I stated before we want to name our nexy baby London (boy or girl).

So I will have a London and a Paris...I love it. I do agree is is kindda out there, but we are just normal people, LOL

My daughter's name is Addison (never watched Grey's Anatomy until she was 15mo old, I SWEAR). We get a lot of compliments on it and we call her Addy sometimes.

Of course my husband then reminded me that Emerson was a brand of TV....

We named our dd Zoë- yes, we use the symbols over the e. Otherwise it should be pronounced to rhyme with Joe- picky, I know and no one really cares but me. Zoë means "life" which is perfect for a little girl who is full of life- plus- it's short (DD can already spell it at 2!) and it's popular (about 65 on the 2004 Social Security name index) without being TOO popular. Only downside- seems to be popular as a dog's name. Oh well, can't have everything!

Whatever she chooses, check the meaning of the name. This was very important to me, and so Molly was out because it meant sorrow (any derivative of Mary does.)

That is why I can't believe Regan has appeared so many times here. Regan was the sister in King Lear who stabbed out her own father's eyes. I always think of that when I hear that name.

Like some, DH and I wanted different, but not TOOOOO different. Our DD's are Tessa and Makenna. We love their names. Tessa's we've only her one other time and the only other Makenna's seem to really be McKenna's.

If we ever have another DD, I still have one in reserve: Aizlyn. If not, my younger sister (no kids yet) likes the name too.

We just named our new puppy Zoe. If I was going to have another daughter her name would be Zoe. Since there will be no daughter #2, I wanted to use the name I loved. I knew her name would be Zoe before I even saw her and it really fits.

My DFi and I talk about having a girl all the time...if we are blessed with a child we have a feeling it will be a girl that looks like DFi with pigtails...

Anyway, we like the name Lila Grace (Grace is my middle name)...I would love the name Dagny...that was my Mom's Mom who passed away when my Mom was a child...thought that would be a nice tribute...but I think LILA over ruled....

I also like Brielle, Clarissa, Annalisa...Loralei...

I have a nearly 6-yr old daughter, Ashlyn. I still LOVE the name and have actually heard of a few other Ashlyn's around town. Still very feminine but not way-out-there weird. We also liked Reagan, Josyln, Addison, Ava... Good luck.

That's my daughter's name too! I loved the name Ashley, but thought it was too popular, so I was thrilled when I found Ashlyn in the baby name book. I also loved the fact that the book said the name meant "vision or dream", because from the time I got pregnant, until the time I had my ultrasound and discovered the gender, I had dreams that the baby was a girl.

Oh, and guess what her best friend from church is named? That's right! We call them "The Ashlyns" and they are pretty much joined at the hip!

Hi. I was very concerned about this too, when I was expecting each time. My oldest is a boy and is named Alexander, so my first piece of advice is for her to talk to lots and lots of other pregnant ladies to hear their choices or better yet, look online for the most up-to-date listings she can find about what is really popular right now ! Because you can pick a name that is relatively uncommon and then find out that it is the name that everyone had the same idea about during the last nine months of pregnancy. There were five earlier the same week in the same operating room that my son was born in and also five others in his kindergarten class plus 2 girls named Alexandra.

With my girls I succeeded to pick real names that were uncommon. I spelled them with the most classic spelling according to the experts, which is the opposite of what my parents did to me. The picked a semi-common name and spelled it differently. My girls are Gwyneth and Anneliese. Gwyneth is just right for people to be surprised by it and maybe ask to be sure they heard right, but most people have heard is several times and realize that after we repeat it for them. Anneliese is very uncommon, but is is a real German name and since we picked it we have heard of a few others with it. We commonly pronounce it with the Americanized pronunciantion, but we occasionally use the german pronunciation as a term of endearment, so she answers to both.

And we constantly get compliments on having picked out great names or hear people telling the girls how much they like their names.

My daughter is Eleanor Grace. Eleanor is not really unique but uncommon since it is "old fashioned". It is after a dear relative. We call her Grace (which is very common around here) since I have always loved the name. We thought about calling her Ella but it didn't sound great with our last name.

My youngest is Ambrosia, goes by Amber - I got a lot of flack for this name "Like the salad?!", but we were convinced that we were having a boy and that was the only girl's name we agreed on, so while we were in shock at our girl, Ambrosia was the only girl's name I could think of!

I also am a fan of the uncommon name. My name is Jolene and my daughter is Emerson Rose. We call her Emmy or Em for short. People occasionally call me Jo but I quickly correct them since I hate that. Interestingly enough Emerson Rose is also the name of Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) little girl born about a year before mine.
