Unfairness in discounts

I appreciate everyone's input but wanted to clarify a couple of things.

First, we can only afford one visit per year and we would love to take advantage of the 4/3 deal - however that came out after we had already booked the cruise and additional days at the park. My thought was that with the 40% discount we could save some funds for the next trip!

Secondly, the email I received was addressed to "the Korf Family" and only found out after I called that it was specifically for my MIL. Well, the email said the Korf family and my inlaws and us have the same last name. Also I was the one who paid for their room! I booked it online and it came to my email address as they do not have email.

I also want to clarify that my frustration is not that some other people are getting discounts and I am not - I am frustrated because I was sent an offer by Disney and then told when I called that I could not use it! I never would have given a second thought to these discounts if we had not received the email.
 
I wish Disney would just stop all discounts of any type and maybe lower their prices a bit. I personally think that would solve everything.

You have every right to be miffed.

Have you tried calling back again? Make like you never called before or have hubby call. You may get a more receptive cm, the second time around.

You can even say something when you get to the resort, ya never know.
 
I'm not sure what is with Disney's mailing system. My sis still gets mail from them to our parent's house in her maiden name. And she has been married 23 years!

I would call back and see what another CM tells you. If they tell you the same thing, I would just let it go. The way Disney releases discounts doesn't always make sense and it is best to just try and accept it.
 

We've received discounts we couldn't use. It is a random mailing, like winning a prize.

Not me. I say much more than "Darn!" I don't like any of those code-receiving people, unless I get one too. :lmao:

Somehow, some way, I do end up with a code offer every single year, despite going every single year. It's never the 40% off code with several travel dates through the year, but I do get a code of some sort. About 80% of the time, I am unable to take advantage of it and they go unused.

I haven't ever paid rack rate though either. There are AP discounts, Disney Visa offers, and general public codes. Getting a pin isn't the end-all, be-all of everything. Just keep your eyes open. We're going in June for 10 days under the 4/3 deal and watching for AP codes. DH and I are going sans-kids at the end of September under a bounce back rate. Yes, I'm still hoping for a pin code so I can run numbers, but I don't think it will be coming.

It' not unfair, it's target marketing. No different than offering high-interest bearing checking accounts to people who maintain high balances. It's a coupon. I get several targeted coupons sent to me from stores all the time--some I shop at frequently, some I don't. And some of those (Children's Place comes to mind) aren't transferable either.

I just read in another thread (about 40% off e-mail), a woman who said she got the e-mail but for her sister; she had booked her sister's room last year. She called and the cm let her use the code that came for her sister.

You really should try calling again and seeing what another cm tells you.
 
I would call again. I received a card at my address with my mother's name. I have paid for her to come along on a few trips. The nice CM said i could use it if some of the info was correct on the card (either name or address).
