Unfair :(

I don't disagree. Onsite guests DO get those perks. As they should, as they are "resort" perks. Extra time on property, free transportation to the airport, dining plan...these are all *resort* perks. Staying at a Disney resort does not, however, automatically grant you access to the parks. You need to buy a separate park admission for that. That park admission costs the same for everyone, regardless of the hotel they stay at. Therefore, that admission should provide the same access to attractions for *all* guests. And thankfully, it will once FP+ is out of testing. Lol..and again the accusation is entitlement and if you don't like it, you're going to be miserable at disney etc. It *is* possible to have concerns about FP+ and still have an amazing trip at Disney. I know, b/c I had a fantastic time at Disney earlier this month. I didn't think about any of the DIS threads at all while I was there. That said, my experience also did nothing to assuage my concerns about FP+. That doesn't mean my trip was miserable ;)

I understand your point but when Universal charged for this privilege (if you weren't staying with them) I paid for this perk. I considered it worth the additional price and I had no problem paying for it. People are complaining about crowds and return times and lines, well this would significantly cut down on all of that.

As far as rude entitled people, you are right; they are in the parks. But I ignore those people best I can and when I can't I kill em with kindness and put on my happy Disney smile.

The extra hours on site is a perk of staying onsite. I have no issue with that. Offsite guests do not have access to the park during those hours at all - they are not open to the general public, and they are not paid for by the theme park admission. As for FPs being available during EMH...FP machines are closed during evening EMH. I didn't think they were open with morning EMH either. I know they sometimes open before 9, like when DHS starts letting everyone in at 8:45 instead of 9, but I don't recall being able to get them at 8am when the park didn't open until 9.

Back in August, during a.m. EMH at HS, I can tell you people were sprinting to the fast pass machines for TSM

I also don't get why people think testers shouldn't get to use both FP. Obviously WDW thinks they should. I personally think they should shut it down if it is really as bad as what has been reported, but otherwise they are within WDW policy and have every right to them. We had 13 in our party and most days by 2 had 5 left in the park. You better believe we pulled all 13 FP and let the older kids ride Splash, Sapce, BTM etc 3 times each with them.

This I agree with. We leave Friday and will only be using our FP+ reservations. Not knocking anyone for doing it but I just feel it's not right.

I'm the last one to defend FP+ simply based on the lack of information regarding the entire system, but the one thing I don't think people have any right to complain about is preferred treatment that on-site resort guests receive. Sorry, but that's life. Disney SHOULD offer better incentives to guests willing to shell out the money to stay on property.

I fully agree. After all, isn't it the people who stay on site, relying on Disney to house them, feed them, and entertain them, that are pouring the most money into Disney? That's how Disney will be able to afford expanding their parks and adding more rides. If you stay off site and don't give Disney that money, please don't complain that you don't have enough rides to go on.

WHAT!!! There's no purple magic bands!!!! That's it. I am never going back to Disney and the whole company will fall apart because of it. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:popcorn:: Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards
good point. The sad thing is, people really feel like this. Disney doesn't care about you, ultimately. They don't care about your kids either . Nor should they. They sell a product, you make a decision whether to purchase this product and you have the right to not purchase from them.

People should't be deluded that Disney is anything other than a business.

Funny question.. My DS says so, my DD's are like OMG accessories!! But me, like I've stated before I go to Cancun every year (grown up get away) and at our resort we wear bracelets that coordinate guest level.. and they are those cheap not exactly paper ones. So I find the MB's a refreshing change

I've got one in every color! I thought I would hate them because I don't wear anything on my wrists, but they really don't bother me and I don't have the urge to take it off, put it on... etc. I do, however, want BLING! So I intend to dress them up for my December trip.

how did the other 8 get back into the room?

We were off site. So I guess there are some added perks to staying off site;) It worked out great for the older two kids because everyone wanted to be gone so we saved the long waits for later and pulled FP. It was funny b/c on splash we barely made the return time on the third time through b/c the FP line was longer and that ride is pretty long too.

There are just perks to staying on site. It costs a lot of money to stay and play with Disney, and I feel resort guests should get a little extra, like FP+, EMH's, booking ADR's 180 days out etc. It's as it should be in my opinion...

Um, are you talking about me (OP)?

I think they are talking about the person who stated they have been going for 30 years.

And am I the only one who thinks the MB's are uncomfortable... I, honestly was ready to throw the damn thing out by the end of our trip...just sayin'

I thought I would, but found it wasn't uncomfortable. When we got them I read the insert in the box that shows how to make it smaller, but I'm right at the cusp of the smaller band. Give me some late-in-the-day swelling and THEN it would be awful if I took the color part off the grey part. :)

And then DH and DS wanted coverbands; the Star Wars ones came in a pack of 3, there are 3 of us, it made sense, so I covered mine up and it was even less uncomfortable for me.

I also started wearing it with the RFID part on the outside of my wristbone instead of on the top, and not only was it easier to hit the Mickey heads, but it FELT more comfortable as well on my wrist!

major case of multiple quote user envy.....:beach:

:) That's what happens when you read through a whole post in one sitting, click the " for every person with a point that you have thoughts about, and quickly/desperately post for fear that the thread will be closed before you get your half a cent in. :goodvibes

Does staying at a Disney resort cost that much more than offsite?

I just checked and value resorts start at $90 a night.

I think more than anything it's what you get for that $90 a night. I recently stayed at Wyndhams Bonnet Creek. For $109 a night we had a two bedroom condo. Bonnet Creek is one of the more expensive ones becuase it's kind of onsite, it's within the WDW gates, near Caribbean Beach resort. I think you could easily get a two bedroom condo for that or less a night at a lot of resorts in Orlando. For us it wasn't about cost so much as about the room to spread out.

Again, that's fine, but there's no need to complain about on-site people getting perks that you don't.

Once we factored in the cost of a rental car, the value resorts started looking very competitive.

If you stay off-site, you have to have a rental car. If you stay on-site (and assuming you're one of the folks who likes the busses, or at least finds them tolerable), then you can save yourself that money.

You also save on the cost of a taxi from the airport.

Plus, there's always discounts available on the rooms at Disney resorts.

Oh Christ, give me a break. I think most people know that it's unfair that my mother and father died of cancer in the last 4 years both around the age of 60. I think most people know it's not fair that priests molest little kids. I think most people know that some lunatic going in a school and shooting up a school isn't fair, but that is all a relative life experience. This forum discusses problem in respect to Disney and this happens to be one. People spend thousands of dollars on a vacation, and many people struggle to save that money to give their children the Disney Experience, something EVERY child should get. But no, it's not fair that a person staying offsite that is paying the same exact admission price as an on site guest is not getting the option of having the same value for that same price.

Aside from the offsite/on site comment I actually fully agree with you and enjoyed the read.

I absolutely hate wearing even those tyvek wristbands they put on you at concerts. I'm hoping that when this entire process is in full swing that I will have the option to use a card instead of having to wear a rubber band on a 95 degree day that is just going to make me sweat more.

I can't stand any kind of jewelry. I haven't worn my wedding ring since the day I got married 18 years ago.
