I agree....its expensive . But at least is possible. For some folks, it would be worth the hefty fee (kind of like staying at a monorail resort ).

I wonder...if this was their way of getting the benefit to their new "value resort" customers, who wouldn't otherwise get it.

What is unfair is that I paid their high prices and now two of us don't even have FP+ because our tickets won't show on MDE. So, if they cut paper FP as well, then these two people will not have any FP, + or -. Honestly, I am surprised FP was not an onsite perk from the getgo. At least you have access and know a head of time that others may have an advantage. I never thought that two of us could be locked out of FP completely until last week and we check in on Friday.

This isn't an incentive. It is a measured test rollout.

Disney knows that there is very little need to incentivize people to overpay for small hotel rooms and cramped buses. An hour here or there, "free" chicken nuggets, wristbands, etc.

I rent DVC villas, don't do the dining plan and stay at the Boardwalk or Wilderness Lodge. None of those things are incentives for me. I just like to stay on property.

If regular FP goes back into effect once the testing is done, off site guests will have an advantage. They'll be able to get more than just 3 FP per day.

That's sure what it seems like! If they keep the FP+ limited to 3 per day and keep FP- unlimited that is not much of an incentive to stay on property!

Which is why I specifically said "currently". "Currently", its still affecting people who are vacationing at Disney.....many who booked before the whole FP+ thing was announced.

Does anyone know if the Universal and SW front-of-the-line programs were initially introduced solely to onsite guests? Or if they were rolled out to the general public at the same time as they were included as an onsite perk? I know the SW and Universal programs have been around a while.

Universal Express Unlimited was, for the LONGEST time (years and years), reserved for Hotel guests. I've looked, before...as recently as our trip in December 2012. I'm not sure when it changed, though..as it obviously has.

Express was always day guests only (since hotel guests already got Express Unlimited, automatically).

I don't know about the Seaworld program. We've never used it.

I half suspect that Universal Express Unlimited was rolled out to dayguests as part of the ticket bundle so that those staying at their new "budget" offering would have access to it.

Personally, I think that Disney is looking for some way to strong-arm people to pay ridiculously inflated prices for motel-style accommodations, and this is what they have found will work. Otherwise, the reasons for staying onsite are becoming woefully fragile......access to an overpriced dining plan with mediocre food quality, and problematic "free" bus transportation (slow, crowded, and prone to a variety of issues.....just read the transportation board).

Disagree. If incentivizing on site bookings were the goal, original FP would have been reserved for resort guests.

Disney's goal with FP+ is the same as its goal was with the original FP - to get people out of lines where they're not spending money.

The transition will cause some uncertainty for offsiters.

Keep this in mind...just like everything else it does, from designing TSM to where to put ice cream stands, FP+ is a result of Disney trying to marry its fiscal goals with its customers desires. DisBoards/AllEars/GenericDisneyBoard is probably not representative of Disney's customer base.

So does Disney. For the price of an on site hotel room you can have access to fp+.

If they said only people without kids or tall people could have fp+ that would be considered unfair.

maybe then they should have rooms other than crap motel quality rooms with Disney decor for $100 a night. I CAN'T stay in a crap Disney motel room because I have 2 teens, a boy and a girl that aren't sharing a bed. And almost every Disney room gives you 2 beds unless of course you would like to pay $500 a night for a slightly less crap room that is bigger. And no, I'm not paying $100 for a room in those garbage value resorts so why would I get TWO of them

I used to be able to ride Tower Of Terror by myself 2,3,4 times towards the end of the day before the FP+ garbage.

a few weeks back I couldn't even get on it once without a 90 minute wait.

Ridiculous

FP+ is not only screwing people out of FPs, it's also making the stand by waits almost double because of completely booked FP guest loading.

Seriously? Crap rooms? you get what you pay for and a 100 dollar room in Disney is way higher quality than you would get for a 100 dollar room elsewhere.. for 300 you can get a nice family suite at art of animation that sleeps 6. I don't think you have a clue what you are talking about...

Completely understandable, and true but "unfair" is the only word I can think of in this situation.....

a lot of people here are upset (believe me, wasnt trying to make it sound like poor me boohoo) I just felt like letting off some steam and see if maybe I'm not alone in feeling this way.

All of this will change soon weather we like it or not. People who are saying that the resort guests have the right to get extra perks are correct. They do deserve it, but in this case, your incentive of FP+ and your ability to also pull FP- will take away from my experience as a park guest. In a small way yes, but we will miss some of our favorite rides because of it.

While I don't think the Disney rooms are "crap", I do think they are nothing better than a typical Best Western. Yep, there are big Disney icons stuck around the common areas and *maybe* a bigger pool, but that's the only improvements over a very budget property in any other city.

On our August 2013 vacation, we had a 1200 square foot GORGEOUS villa at Sheraton Vistana Resort for $120 per night, taxes included. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen, in-room laundry facilities, screened in balcony, king bed in the master, jacuzzi tub. Granite countertops, ceramic tile, beautiful finishings throughout. A king bed in the master and two doubles in the second bedroom. 7 pools, a selection of hot tubs, onsite mini golf, basketball courts, volleyball courts. It was the same price as a room at POP, all 260? square feet of it.

Can't is not the same as choose not to. I have 2 teens, boy and girl, we happily stay in those "$100 crap motel rooms". We've stayed at all levels of resorts at Disney and always end up back at the values. It's our favorite

But you can stay at a Sheraton Vistana type place anywhere in the world. If you are staying at the Polynesian, you can see the Magic Kingdom from your room.

If people are that upset about losing perks, then don't go to Disney. Vote with your wallet.

My wife and I just returned from a 6 night stay at POP with Regular Dining Plan, and did we double-dip? You betcha. I am paying a lot for the vacation, and my idea of fun is riding the headliners as much as possible, so we did. Even so, it was nearly impossible to get a paper FP for TSMM or Soarin' past 9:45, or for Test Track after 10:30.

However, our previous 4 trips, we had stayed off-site with our 2 boys who are nearing teenage status. If this FP+ is too restrictive on being able to get FPs for off-site guests, then we just won't go as much and will only go when we are able to stay on property.

Vote with your wallet, whichever way that happens to be. Disney will get the message soon enough.
